I know this may seem silly but I was wondering what settings people are using on the stock EX system? I know personal pref has some play here but I still wonder what is a norm.
Treble
bass
Sub
fade
etc.
thanks
P.S. ShaneS mentions you need a Key CD.... What is the opinion of the "KEY" CD??????

Since speaker upgrade (four Infinity 6002Is + 1001T tweeters), I have been using subwoofer -1, fader +2 rear, all others 0. Briefly set treble to -1 but after getting used to improved response from the tweets, reverted to 0. When carrying back-seat passengers I put fader back to 0.

Mine's all stock, so of course lots of BandAids (i.e. EQ) are in evidence.
I have the Sub at about +4, Bass at about -4 and Treble at about +2 or +4
In my experience having the Bass anywhere near 0 (or certainly higher) results in muddy, one-note mid-bass with little to no definition. Turning the Sub up a bit helps bring back whatever bass and mid-bass (the system really isn't capable of "sub" bass) that there is.
That the Sub control has so much influence over the Bass and Mid-Bass is evidence that either the subwoofer is really being sent frequencies higher than normal lowest-of-low, or that the control is also "talking to" the door speakers.

i agree. Which is why I asked this question.
Anyone have a fav CD for setting audio system parameters?

I've got Treble +2, Bass Max, the rest at 0. I'm a electric bass player and I like to hear the low to mid bass range, but I found turning the Sub up emphasized too much "thump" from the bass drum and not enough of the string bass notes, hence the EQ is up and not the sub. It's just my personal taste.
As for a good cd to EQ with, I've found smooth jazz is good because of the range of sounds on a typical cd (lots of bass good mids and highs for the piano and winds). Keiko Matsui is a favorite.

I think Shane is talking about a Key CD in reference to HIS aftermarket head unit - wich is made by Eclipse.
Here's how it works; When you set up the unit initially you take any CD that you own and insert it into the head unit - it reads the cd and comes up with a checksum that is stored in memory.
If the unit is ever stolen (or the power to the unit is disconnectecd), the only way to activate it is by re-inserting that same key CD. It's a theft prevention device. If you don't have the CD - the unit will not work.
