: Air Distrib. Control - EX MODELS mini heads up
tblask 04-04-2003, 08:25 PM Or for those DX OWNERS w/AIR CON:
For those who never knew or sorta' forgot (like me) -
Within the Heating & Cooling System the so-called MODE CONTROL DIAL
(that's the one of three on the right)>>>When It's Turned To The Two
Far Right Positions, also being the 2 & 3 o'clock positions which have
the Windshield symbols on them<<< - THE GODDAM AIR CONDITIONER
IS ON, WITH IT'S INCREASED LOAD ON ENGINE EFFICIENCY AND FUEL
MILEAGE.
I always mean to drop into a stationary store and get a package that
includes 2 self-stick little round blue dots to place on the Mode Control
Dial just below the windshield symbols as a reminder that if chosen it's
AIR CON time......a blue sharpie just wouldn't do.
Cheers, Tim B.
Alien Element 04-04-2003, 08:47 PM Well, the "Defroster" does work better in some cases when the air conditioner is used to control the humidity inside the vehicle. But most of the time you can defeat this function by pressing the AC button to turn it off while in the defrost mode. Is this not the case with the Element?
mmathews 04-04-2003, 09:54 PM Yeah, I read that in the manual (yes, I read manuals, mostly so I don't hear the RTFM statement too often). Our Odyssey does the same thing, but the AC light comes on and stays on unless you turn it off. Unfortunately, the Element AC light remains unlit, although the AC remains on.
Seems like a mistake in thinking.
JE_ELEMENT_TN 04-04-2003, 11:09 PM  Your problem is saying G D. And you wonder why stuff goes wrong. Dumbass!
Oak Lawn Element 04-05-2003, 07:27 AM The 2k2 Si was that way also, but a Honda Tech posted a reprogramming sequence in ephatch.com that defeated this. I might have to see if it works on the E. I'll let y'all know.
tblask 04-06-2003, 11:18 AM JE -TN : No offenese intended; I'm sorry & I apologize...at most might
have said "gol darn" or just 'irritating' or 'confusing' or anything but.
Oak Lawn : Interesting notion re possible reprogramming. I would have
just assumed all that 'switch-y' stuff was hard-wired...If only I could
replace the forgotten stuff with new, good stuff - or maybe I am and just
can't remember or don't notice when I'm learning. HUH? Anyway, thanx...
lon777 04-06-2003, 11:37 AM Why are you worried the A/C is running. Not because of gas mileage! Have a friend who is a flight test engineer and aerodynamicist. He said with modern A/C systems the drag on the engine is less than going 40 MPH with the windows open. So no matter what, i always run the A/C and never worry about fuel consumption.

I appreciate it.
Inmyelement 04-06-2003, 10:05 PM that one of the nicest features!

So, saying goddam is a problem (religious based I presume), but assuming the role of judge and jury, and cursing sans God's name is hokey dokey? [valley-girl accent]whatever[/valley-girl accent] :?
One of the nice things about this board is that we can all express our feelings without things getting out of hand.
Je_Element_Tn,
I am sure that you just made a slight mistake referring to someone else on this board by anything other than a civilized manner.
Oak Lawn Element,
The Mods can [/valley-girl accent] totally [/valley-girl accent] handle it, thanks.
za9ra22 04-07-2003, 09:16 AM Personally I can't see why a person who caused unintended offence by using the word 'goddam' should feel the need to aplogize, but the person who intends to offend by using the word 'dumbass' clearly does not.

Most Excellent! :)
