Nice one, GM. What an original concept!!
Notice the high roof also... are they perhaps trying to fit into their "element" here?
keckhanded 10-20-2004, 10:14 PM This is what I was writing about the other day. Suzuki has a commercial where Honda is called generic. Makes no sense to me. (Brendon do I put a "'" after make

Oops! Sorry, keckhanded... I didn't mean to steal your idea! I guess I shouldn't be so hard on GM. ;)
Here's another one...
Nissan Murano:

80honda 10-21-2004, 07:58 AM sorry, I do not see any similarities at all. Now go take a closer look at the rear. Then take a close look at a Chrysler Town and country. BINGO. The look just alike.
Now what pisses me off is all the Magazine reviews and they are acting like Chevy invented the sliding rear seat. Excuse me.

I kinda like the rounded rear on the Lexus and Murano. I pointed it out to my wife the other day, who said it looked like the bulging of a botulin-infected soup can. I guess guys like rounded rears better than women... :P

THE FIFTH 10-21-2004, 10:42 AM touareg must fall into this catagory too.
$40,000 for a smaller cargo capacity than a E
LOL
MikeQBF 10-21-2004, 10:46 AM You're looking to pin the "plagiarism" label where it's not a fair assessment. Similarities in profile are more than likely the result of wind tunnel tweaks. Same thing happened resulting in the "jelly bean" car phenomenon in the early '90's.
>$40,000 for a smaller cargo capacity
If cargo capacity is an important yardstick, then go buy a Freightliner Sprinter (http://www.fl-sprinter.com/) for $35K. It gets 25 mpg, too.

That's what I was thinking too.
Sorta related: I'd love to have been able to overhear the conversations during the E's wind-tunnel test and redesign phases... :)

Good points, guys! Actually I was driving home tonight and noticed just how MANY cars look similar to each other! Unbelievable!! I guess that's just one of the reasons that I like me "E" so much! :)
Oh, and Brendan... Did Honda actually subject the "E" to the wind tunnel testing?? LOL :)

Good point. It may be the case that when engineering sent it back to design to "make it less of a drag", design added the polyurethane flooring, FXC fabrics, and 270Watt stereo.
That would explain a lot. :)

speaking of wind.... i drove down the I-5 from sacramento to LA this past sunday... and OMG the wind. There were gusty wind warnings everywhere and traveling at 80mph was not fun... at one point the wind was blowing so hard it felt like my door was going to be ripped off as it was rattling!
still love the E tho. ;)

Yeah, so would the engineers, but the wind was too loud.
Seriously, when the gearshift reads "1 - 2 - 3 - SubOrbital", I'll worry about aerodynamics. I like the boxyness of the E, even if it's a bit louder at highway speed than an Extruda .

jvacierto 10-22-2004, 01:43 PM I don't remember where I got it, but this saying sums up pretty much anything in life:
"People don't like new stuff, they like re-packaged old stuff."
This is more true in car designs than anything else.

Somewhere about 2,400 years ago, a old man wrote this: "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." The older I get, the more I wonder if The Preacher might have been right.
I bought a new car in 1995. Now, nine years later, I expected to find some really neat new innovations in the showroom. Let's see, we've got side airbags now, and... Well, that's about it. The Element is one of the very few cars with an Aux input! What happened to radar in the bumpers? Why are things like steering still mechanical? And let's not even talk about gas mileage.
On the other hand, they say that the reason God was able to create the world in six days was that he didn't have an installed base...
