: What About A 2005 National Meet?
Bald Eagle 11-08-2004, 08:17 PM A while ago there was a fair amount of talk about getting together at the East Liberty plant in 2005. A National Meet will take quite a bit of planning. It's November...2005 will be here in less than two months. Any seroius interest in making this happen?
Theelements 11-08-2004, 08:28 PM sure but where? it would be hard
amtoro 11-08-2004, 08:36 PM Maybe 2, 3, 4... different events at the same time on different regions; if they're on Wi-Fi hotspots, we can use iChat and iSight to see how's it going on the other regions...
Mac Power!
Type X 11-08-2004, 08:37 PM [quote:1bac089722=" "]sure but where? it would be hard[/quote:1bac089722]
umm i believe his post says.... the East liberty plant
which i believe is in Ohio..
Theelements 11-08-2004, 09:00 PM ohio, i dont kno if it would drive from ca to oh
T Mac 11-08-2004, 09:57 PM Yes, I'm leaning toward maybe having a west coast meet and a meet in Ohio (near or at East Liberty - where the E is made) at or around the same time. Let me get through the holidays and we'll start cranking on something. If anyone wants to volunteer or help make suggestions, we're certainly open to that.
Thanks!
Theelements 11-08-2004, 11:33 PM oh i would love to help out. u kno me :D . Lets just wait after the holidays
popeye 11-08-2004, 11:45 PM not sure if ohio's still on my a-list  but a visit of the honda plant would be very very cool -i'm in, on and totally for it ;-)
i think the e factory is THE perfect destination for the 2005 national meet
Theelements 11-09-2004, 12:14 AM yeah same here, if we could get the factory involved too that could be cool
Bald Eagle 11-09-2004, 09:22 PM 45,000 Saturn owners showed up at the Saturn plant in Tennessee. That's right, forty five thousand of 'em. SATURNS, FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!
amtoro 11-09-2004, 10:06 PM I'm IN... it's maybe 1000 miles but what the h...! One more excuse to drive my beloved E
Empire 11-09-2004, 10:22 PM The PT Cruiser crowd had a MASSIVE meet/event also.
Most of these are company sponsored and organized events.
I think Honda is secretly run by ninjas though, you know they like to keep all low key and crap.
The overhead bin is actually for storing your throwing stars.
gazoo 11-13-2004, 07:30 PM I'm down for that. Sounds really cool. Late spring early summer?

spdrcr5 11-15-2004, 11:25 PM I am all for a National Meet at the E plant in Liberty, OH. So long as it is not the same weekend as my family reunion I am there.
insoucient1 11-17-2004, 03:55 PM I would definitely be down for a roadtrip!!! Count me in!!
ZosoRules1 12-01-2004, 10:53 PM Road trip to East Liberty! I'm in.
Theelements 12-01-2004, 11:47 PM too far, next time
lizzurd 12-03-2004, 05:32 PM 45,000 Saturn owners showed up at the Saturn plant in Tennessee. That's right, forty five thousand of 'em. SATURNS, FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!
Is that because E owners unlike Saturn owners have lives?......Only kidding.......i'd be willing to make the trip across the border to meet up.
Hondamade4dogs 12-15-2004, 07:37 AM I will go to the meet. I did belong to a PT Cruiser Club, we where having national Rallies every year. It was a trip to see Cruisers from all over the country in one place. Sometimes it was hard to find my car in the crowd. If anyone wants to meet in Oklahoma sometime, drop me a line....
Just bought an Orange Dogbox on Saturday
NoRegrets78 12-15-2004, 08:49 AM I'd go. Honda should organize something like this and advertise.
Theelements 12-15-2004, 06:53 PM yeah some 1 needs to mension this to em :)
joemama 12-16-2004, 02:11 PM I would be up for it. Especially if we got some sort of plant tour when they were making the Element.
I heard that East Liberty is nice but stay out of West Liberty after dark.
LmentalMastiffs 12-27-2004, 04:28 PM I know it's not after the Holidays yet... but what's up? Is there any planning happening? I'd like to volunteer my time and energy! :D
Also, has anyone thought to write to Honda and see if they'd be interested in sponsoring something like this!!!
I'm so there.. keep me posted!!
Kerri
Theelements 12-27-2004, 06:11 PM yeah lets set somthin up! hey TMAC can u talk w/ honda and let us meet at the honda plant? or somthin like that.. i was alsothingin like a Navada meet or somthin like that..... i dunno.... any 1 else have any suggestions???
T Mac 12-27-2004, 06:47 PM It is time to start looking into this. No doubt. I'm thinking a timeframe of late May to early June for an actual target date. Location - hopefully in Ohio and not sure if we can schedule a tour or not but I'll start making some calls.
I'd also like to have a west coast meet on the same date or near the same date for all those who can't attend the meet in Ohio.
I've asked for help in the past but a lot of time has gone by since then. So if you have some time or expertise in a certain area (perhaps you are from Ohio and know a good camping spot for 25-50 Element families)... drop me a line about your area of expertise and how you can help and we'll go from there!
Thanks all!
Theelements 12-27-2004, 07:33 PM yes if we do do this we need it to be big... hey tmac maybe you can make a cool banner and advertise it on the site etc!lets make this 1 big guys!
thadd 12-27-2004, 11:35 PM where is east liberty ohio exactly?
It looks to be about a 1/2 hour west of columbus?
Tessa Y 12-29-2004, 06:14 PM We would be game for a National Meet! I am looking out my windown now and see the Pacific Ocean but would be willing to drive to Maine if we had too. Just let us know when and where and we will be there!
Also, our company does printing, direct mail, vinyl signs and promotional stuff and if we can be any assistance in getting this off the ground, just let us know!

T Mac 01-05-2005, 01:14 PM Here's what I'm leaning toward right now...
July 9/10 weekend - Columbus, OH
Nothing concrete, but it's sounding good. We are going to try to contact Honda about getting a tour soon too. That will really determine if we need to meet in Ohio or not.
thadd 01-05-2005, 08:43 PM sweet, a day after my birfday.
trickyvick 01-16-2005, 12:13 AM 45,000 Saturn owners showed up at the Saturn plant in Tennessee. That's right, forty five thousand of 'em. SATURNS, FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!
I thought you would like to see this Bald Eagle.....I stopped by today to thumb my nose at them!
Enjoy!
ELEMENTDUDE 01-16-2005, 08:43 AM July should be doable. We need to lock in the date.
Outstanding idea!! A plant tour would be super and I would get to see some E's with cool stuff in 'em. It's a day's drive from here and a good excuse to take a car that has become the family's favorite.
The last car meet I went to was for British car owners and I showed up in a Chevy powered Aston Martin. I was sure not in the in crowd. I promise to leave the E intact although a mid-engine....nah, never happen.
GuestBedroom 01-19-2005, 01:13 PM If you need help, I'd be glad to help!! Even if Honda can't give us a tour, see if they can set something up outside...maybe food, or pictures of E's being made!! Or of the Oompa Loompas that buld the E!!!!! Maybe Honda could put something on their Ohio web-site.
We could post flyers at dealerships or leave them on peoples E's!! It would be great to see more than 100 E's in one place, especially at the Honda plant they were built!!!
What else would be awesome, is if Honda gave or sold the Made in the USA Eagle emblem from the JDM E's!!! I'm sure they would sell a lot of these!!! Or if Honda offered a comemerative sticker recognizing the first National E meet at the Honda E plant!!!!
ZosoRules1 01-19-2005, 01:15 PM I'm excited! I wonder how many of the oompa-loompas will fit in an Element?
Tessa Y 01-19-2005, 07:21 PM I'm excited! I wonder how many of the oompa-loompas will fit in an Element?
My guess is 100. They are pretty small and compact - you could get them all naked, slather them in baby oil and then stack them perfectly, they would fit perfectly!
Bald Eagle 01-19-2005, 08:08 PM Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?
For a different perspective.
Borg Queen 02-05-2005, 08:14 PM East Liberty, OH. Smack dab on the west side of some damn fine driving roads...Hmmm.
thockman 02-07-2005, 09:33 PM Honda of America, the subsidiary of Honda that runs the East Liberty plant, hosts an annual Homecoming event the last week of July every year. The event is designed around the motorcycles built at the motorcycle plant, but there are a lot of activities on the Honda grounds and in Marysville for all the visitors in town. There is a county fair, light parade, Ride for Kids charity ride (drive), vendors, and uptown block party.
This event would be an excellent time to hold an Element meet due to the strong focus on Honda owners of all products visiting the plants that built the products. I can provide a name to contact in the Corporate Affairs department at Honda of America to see if the company would be interested in officially acknowledging your Element meet and incorporating it into the Homecoming activities to some degree. Anyone is welcome to register for the event. There are more details on the Homecoming at www.ohio.honda.com.
Tom
T Mac 02-07-2005, 10:48 PM I've got a contact at Honda in Ohio and she hasn't mentioned this event yet but I will ask her about it. Thanks for the tip!
special k 02-08-2005, 06:27 AM The Homecoming weekend is a great weekend to come down (like previous post, a lot going on). The only downfall is hotels may be difficult to come by. There's usually 15-16,000 people in that weekend, people stay anywhere from Bellefontaine to Columbus.. Marysville is a smaller sized town of about 15K itself. There's usually a tour of the motorcycle plant also. A large display of past and present honda products, motorcycle contests, etc. Marysville is in Union County and the Union County fair is held this week also. Let me know if I can help any, I live in Marysville (1/2 a mile from the fairgrounds) and work at Honda.
Bald Eagle 02-08-2005, 12:51 PM On the other hand, if we get together on the same weekend as the Honda Homecoming, we'll probably get lost in the crowd. 150 Element enthusiasts competing with 16,000 motorcycle fans. No contest. I'd rather go a week or two before the HH even though we'd miss the fair and Honda activities that are geared toward a motorcycle audience.
Besides, I've already seen Sturgis.
T Mac 02-08-2005, 01:01 PM ^^^ Ditto ^^^
I'll pass too.
I was in Durango, CO when a Harley cruise was passing through and it was a mess. The majority of bikers were fine but took every parking place in town, one to a bike, had a habit of going for dawn or late rides and brought a bunch of trailers with spare parts and bikes.
They did have some interesting parties though.

The East Liberty Plant will be on summer shut down from July 2 to July 9. I am certain there wil be no chance of a tour on the weekend of July 9 / 10.

I AGREE TOTALY!!!
SECONDLY
I used to live really close to the honda plant and they have a large testing track that im shure we could fit a goo amount of E'S on much like the car shows/meets in daytona around the track
THIRD
there are plenty of hotels lodgeing and camping between west lib. and columbus and columbus is only 30 mins away from west lib.
FORTH
I'd would like to have the meet in early june the weather is awsome in june humid and hot in july
ither way im there count me in
LAST
1. i do think we shoud set a definite date
2.make flyers for everone to print off this site
3.have everyone print flyers and drop them of at our local dealers honda hot spots. ect...
i will print and take flyers to all my local honda dealers in my area and have everyone else do the same spread the word!!!!
skeeter1422002 03-09-2005, 05:43 PM hope you guys relise the week of the gold wing home coming is a big thing with thousands of bike and its a huge thing for honda and the small town of west lib. so busy that one (hate to say it) honda really wouldnt care about a small group of happy E owners plus the hotels, camp sites ect. are extremly full that whole month due to all of this.
Bald Eagle 03-09-2005, 07:11 PM Honda Homecoming is July 28-30. We'll be the warm up act.

Thanks for the insight
but we are having it on July 15th
are you honda's spokesman since you know so much about what they want?
bkafer 03-09-2005, 07:51 PM Honda sponsorship would be great. Maybe they could have engineers on site yto answer tech questions.
You'll need to start getting ideas of how many will attend.
You may have 150 or so. should a TV network mention it or a car mag, you may have thousands show up.
So then you have to think of where to put them . Then porta pots and insurance and soo your doing more then just having a few people show up.
It becomes a full time job.
I have helped put together dog shows. sounds easy huh a few dogs or a few cars.. BUT it took 6 months to put a show together.
Yes a lot of work.
I'll be good for moral support
Plus if there is anything I could do with the computer I would be happy to help.
Plus Imay even show up who knows.....
Can you get a special area here on this site to show dates and what may be happening????
special k 03-09-2005, 08:15 PM Skeeter
This is coming from someone who lives here now and works for Honda.
2 weeks before homecoming the hotels and campgrounds won't be full from people anticipating homecoming.
The only one who can truly answer how Honda feels about Element owners coming from across the country to visit the plant where they're cars are made is T-Mac because he's been in contact arranging things. I think it will be a great time and Honda will put on a great presentation/event.
Oh, and the plant is in East Liberty not West Liberty.
T Mac 03-09-2005, 08:19 PM I am going to post official details - at least as much of it that is "official" that I have right now - Friday or Saturday of this week. That being said, I can tell you this right now...
THE DATES OF THE EOC NATIONAL MEET ARE: JULY 15/16/17
Honda IS interested and they DO want to interact with us. In fact, they have invited us to visit their facility on Friday, July 15th and 100 lucky people out of our group will get to go. I know that a lot of you are interested in going out there but not everyone will get to go. If necessary, we'll have a lottery of some sort to get the numbers. I'll post details on this later, including everything that will take place at their facility.
I'm still looking for a location for a big "hangout" picnic kinda thing for Saturday...maybe a huge park in the Columbus area that we can bring several hundred of us together to hang out, eat and visit face-to-face.
I'm also looking for an official hotel and things like that.
Watch for the offiical announcement Friday or Saturday. Thanks!
Thanks for all the time and work your putting into this thing. It sure is worth the $20 a month dues.
Bald Eagle 03-09-2005, 08:42 PM Thanks for all the time and work your putting into this thing. It sure is worth the $20 a month dues.
...or $9.99 if you qualify for the "Over 30 Senior Discount".
special k 03-09-2005, 08:44 PM T-Mac
Marysville has many parks that may be available. Attached is a link to a newsletter from the city that has some park information, including size.
http://www.marysvilleohio.org/2004%20Newsletter.pdf
The Union County fairgrounds are also in Marysville at routes 31 and 33.
Another option is Bellefontaine which is about 10-15 minutes west of East Liberty. The next closest batch of hotels to Marysville (which has 4), is in Dublin. There are many hotels in Dublin. This is going to be about a 30-35 minute drive from the plant though.
John
My wife told me it was $20 and she pays all the bills. I wonder if she's spending the other $10 on that damn landscapper Raul!
