Hi,

This is my first brand new car and i was wondering how often do you wax a car? Once a week, twice a month, every other month?

Thanks

The best rule of thumb to use when waxing a car is once every 4 months. another determinate are the size of the water drops. If the drops of water on your hood over the size of a nickle, its time to re-wax. Still another determinate is heat. If you have very hot summers (like over 100 degrees), I would wax the car every month, because high heat can make the wax "melt off". If you use a high quality wax, it shouldn't ever have to worry about having too much wax on your car.

How does keeping the car on the street (no shade) affect the equation?

If you're living in a highly industrial area (Chicago, Pittsburg, NYC, etc),I would wax about every 2 months, no matter what. if you live in a small urban area, little pollution, you could still probably stick to the every 4 months routine. If still unsure ask a local body shop.

It can sometimes get as high as the middle 70's in November here in OKC. This is usually when I apply my last coat of wax until March. Of course, if you have access to a heated garage, you can wax until your hearts content. :D
