: High mileage on my E

I want to ask you, fellow E owners, if you find yourself driving a lot more than average. This vehicle is just too fun to leave parked in the garage for too long. I find myself driving just for the joy of it. I've always heard the average is 15k per year and I'm trying to keep my mileage within that limit. I'm at 10,608 presently and have four months to go until the E's first anniversary. Anyone willing to share your mileage with me and the date you purchased the E? Thanks in advance!

We're at 11 months, with 23,000 miles. With the travel that's currently planned, I anticipate being out of warranty by next March (after only 15 months).

Oh... I work at home, so none of this is commuting!

Purchased in August so it's been around a little over three months and 7400 miles. To answer the question we do drive the E just for kicks. We have some other wheels but nothing is as much fun to drive. On a whim, and at 4000 miles, we hopped in and headed from Michigan to Florida. First day was ~800 miles to Dalton, GA without doing anything crazy. Second day was an easy trip to Tampa before dinner. Never had a car before that didn't leave us in knots when we got out. This one doesn't.

The E has an attitude that says get in and go somewhere - and we do. I have to admit it, it's the first car in a long time that I smile at. That's probably a car nut thing...

I'm with you. I work from home too. Sometimes I wait for 5:00 p.m. and hop into the E, pick up a friend and go cruising some back-roads. The evening can only get better if there's a good football game on the radio. :D

I am at 16,000 miles in 10 months of ownership... but didn't put more than 300-500 in a 7 week period of time because I was taking the train to work during that time.

I commute 27 each way for work plus I put another 15-30 during the day for work. I am hoping to have less than 18,000 at my 1 yr anniv on Jan 2... we'll see.

7,000 in 4 months of driving, but the great part is I do not have to worry about the mileage because it is a Honda. One of the reasons I bought it was because of Honda's good reputation. Car seems like it will last quite a while.

37,000 in one year - all local - so I just traded my 2004 SSM for a 2005 RR. Had it for a week and have already passed the 700 mark. The dealer is selling the old one as an "as is - no warrenty" Guess he didn't want to put the new tires on and have the 40K service done either.

Lets see, I bought it new Jan 2, 2004 with 8 miles. On Nov 16, 2004 I rolled over 16,000 as I posted above. Today I will roll over 36,000. That is more than 20,000 in a year. I am now hoping to be under 40,000 before my 2 year anniversary... we'll see. lol I am averaging ~1,800 miles/month so 40k/2 yrs is going to be cutting it pretty close.

Thinking about trading this in on a 2007 next year because of the miles I am putting on it... but won't make that final decision until the time gets closer and how the E is holding up then.

I bought used in Aug of 2004 with 16,800 miles
from an old man in San Antonio, TX.
Put 980 miles on it in the first 11 hours owned.
Yeah, I know.
Got home and slept!

I now have 34,342 miles.

17,542 in 15 months for me = roughly 14,034 miles/year

or 15,850 miles/year over the life of the Element.
Too much fun!

Bought my E in March of 2004. At the time I drove about 60 miles round trip to and from work every day, and I drove about 21,000 miles that first year. I now live only 7 miles from work, so I'm not putting as many miles on it. I'm at 34,500 now. However, whenever my wife and I drive anywhere, I insist on driving the E, and she agrees. It's definitely more fun than her Cavalier.

I will have to slow myself down soon. It is less than 2 weeks and already 1,000 miles on my E. I normally share milage between the E and my bike. In the last 2 weeks I only put around 500 miles on my bike so I will have to ride my bike more and just look more on my E. LOL:grin:

It's holding up great. Replaced the original tires at 35k (with Yokohoma Geolanders), routine maintenance done on the 5k schedule. Biggest problem so far? The other night I noticed the light for my fan speed knob was burned out. That's it. Love this car now as much as I did in Aug 03 when I drove away from the dealer.

I think I have most of you beat. I have loved putting 16.500 miles on in the
first four months driving cross country as a theater rigging contractor. I have
great faith in this vehicle and only a few complaints. Does anyone else think
that the arm rests are too low and too far back and that the cup holder is
pretty lame? Plus, the one thing that I actually do think is a safety issue are the rearview mirrors. They need an additional convex circle OR better yet a
less flat plane from the factory. But, mostly it is driving bliss in my 05-E.

I haven't had the E very long, but I have gone into cars.com to sell my old one. I put 75K on my Altima in 5.75 years, and I have really low miles compared to almost everybody else in there. 15K per year, I don't know where they got that figure (I've heard 12!).

Bought my E February, 2003. One of the first 2500 E's made

3 years old this month.

55,130 miles

1 windshield replaced compliments of Honda North America.

Replaced oem Goodyear tires at about 47,000 miles

Burned through the rear differential fluid and had the dreaded noise. Replaced all fluids except the brake fluid which looks new. Also changed the coolent 45,000 miles early. Don't believe Honda's maintenance hype and treat your coolent like all other cars ( 2 years or 24,000 miles)

Besides my intermittant "squeaky drivers seat", there have been no problems.

I'll be replacing my E at the end of this year. What replaces it will much depend upon Honda and it's new models for 07.

One of the first reviews i ever read about the E said it was the best handling SUV under $30,000. I just wish it had more HP. In spite of the E's breadbox shape, it handles/corners really well.

33,000 miles in 12 months. Including road trips to Sioux Falls, SD & the 2005 big E-vent in Ohio. Looks like just a bit more than 25mpg, but I drive "easy" (i.e. lots of cruise control and moderate speeds).

Major complaint: I shouldn't have waited unitl '05 to get an E.

Hi,

I commute from Swansea, MA to Hyannis, MA. It's 64 miles door to door. The ride is great, no traffic, only the occasional tourist slowing down rte 132 and
tourists not knowing how to negotiate rotarys. I just bought my E, I traded in a turbo beetle. I am breaking in the engine so I don't go over 3000rpms. I average 65-70mph and have been getting 24.9mpg. I log over 31k miles/year,
I figured a diesel jetta, toyota, or honda was going to take that abuse and with proper maintenance last over 300k miles. The gave me the room I needed and
I can't register a new diesel in MA, plus I'm relatively tall for a jetta or bug , my left leg used to get pretty well cramped up, by the end of the commute my left leg was stiff.

According to statistics, with regular maintenance the 2.4L should last a long time. I plan on running synthetic oil due to the high mileage I drive and change it every 7k miles.
