Hi all,

Was looking to see if there was going to be a thread for the mid-Atlantic states! I live in Takoma Park, MD (suburb of DC) and bought my silver EX at the end of March. I have YET to see ANY elements on the road. I feel kinda lonely! Absolutely LOVE my element though.

I'm a very proud Element owner in ALEXANDRIA. I wish I could say that I haven't seen many around - and actually I haven't. But two days after I parked my GG E in the driveway, our neighbors three-doors down brought home their new GG E - EXACTLY THE SAME. At least all the neighbors know I got mine first!

I love everything about it. I've given tours everytime I get gas.

I have a Sunset Orange Pearl EX. Just the normal store bought kind. However, I am searching for Chrome parts and add ons, to make her unique! I am in Hagerstown MD and I see them everywhere as I drive all over the region in my big truck. I didn't like them at first! Soooooooooo I was off from work one day and my son and I went to JUST LOOK at one.
Now I am the proud owner of one. I was amazed at all the head and leg room, also the opening of the doors. Now the 2 girls can get in without struggling around the seat! The seat belts could have been put on the seats instead of the doors! It handles great! But now this creates a different problem.........How do I Keep my 16 year old out of the driver's seat? I did have the windows tinted to match all the way around!

Hi all!

I'm not from Baltimore, but I just drove my E through there on a roadtrip from VA to Salem, MA. It was the first long trip we'd taken and our E did great! I love it!!! BTW, we counted 20 other Es on the road there and back.

I bought my 2003 SSM 4WD 5-speed EX last night, and so far I love it! Since I'd been researching and saving for this car since April, there was little doubt I would feel any other way. I've seen many Elements since they were released, but only two since I drove mine off the lot: A blue one passed me on I-70 Eastbound this morning, then again on 29 South, and the second was a Black one parked in the McDonald's off of Broken Land Parkway. Have we all determined the official Element wave yet? Perhaps with it's surfer dude marketing push, a "hang loose" hand sign would be more appropriate.

I've been at Honda of Annapolis for 3 years and this was the first Honda i bought. Remember if you live close to Annapolis come you down to my dealership I'll be more t5han willing to rack it so you can check out the underneath. This area is the E! capitol of the East! I live around B-more but commute to Gaithersburg daily (gas money...) and there are soooo many E!'s on the road! I like the idea of the hang 10 thing as a greeting, i do that when i see other E!'s now anyhow, so that would just rock.

Hey all, I was wondering...... Has anyone (group) tried to organize an actual club? I also have a MINI Cooper S and belong to DC Metro MINIS and was just curious. Also, I think a meet would be nice. I am originally from FL and have seen the popularity for E's grow. My friend owns an '03 Orange and being in that one got me hooked to buy my '04. I am seeing E's everywhere now. I have actually seen more E's than MINI's on 270 near Rockville.

Hey everyone, MD-er here! Live in Laurel, work in Bethesda, see quite a few E's around. Tried honking at one once, just got a weird look, I guess they'll sell E's to anyone, huh? (Course, some strange white chick honking at you and grinning for no apparent reason would probably warrant an odd look, too.)

So, who's going to the St. Louis meet? I can see a caravan of E's rolling west in my head (along with all the purple dinosaurs that wander around in there). Let's carpool or roadtrip together, people!

P.S. Don't put me in front of the line, my nickname's BearBait for a reason...turns out 'bear' is a term truckers use for cops. And whadaya know, it's reckless driving if you hit more than 20 over (and get caught) in VA. HeHe.

I'd love to Caravan with a bunch of you fellow E owners from MD and VA...but the wife, kids, and I are actually going out to St. Louis a week and a half before the Event as we have family in St. Louis (wife's parents and brothers/sisters)....needless to say, we won't spend any money on hotels for the Event...that was the main reason I'm making it to this one....savin' a bunch of moolah:D I'll see you all out there in the Lou....but if you all have a plan to go back from St. Louis, then I'm definitely down for caravaning back to the East Coast...there are lots of different routes you can take besides 64 and 70, very pretty country to see between St. Louis and here....

A local get-together's a great idea! No sense in only having one chance to celebrate our divine E-ness! Spring's good, we could pick a local event and meet or how about a road trip w/camping, hiking, rafting, etc.? I've been wanting to break my baby in!

I agree, Ocean City's awesome but not if you can't swim...tried that last time in May and let's just say I'm glad I'm not a guy, would've taken a month to coax the boys back out.

Harpers Ferry's great, there's tons of activities available. Or maybe Deep Creek Lake, we could plan a day hike on the AT (for those non-hikers out there, that's the Appalachian Trail) and there's boating available there, too.

FYI, the river rafting season starts in April most places. If this is something we're all interested in, can we get a virtual show of hands re: what level rafter you'd consider yoursefl? I've done Class 4 white water rafting w/inflatables, but have no kayaking experience.

Yeah, the more I think about it, Ocean City's probably not the best choice. There's limited opportunities to display our E's - can anyone imagine finding parking near the boardwalk for all of us??? And Boardwalk Fries & Dippin' Dots are the bomb, but I want to take my E out of city-life for a change!

Anyway, the White Flint mall in Rockville would be an awesome place to have a meet. Dave & Busters is a great place to shoot pool, play games, drink a couple beers, eat, etc... the upper deck of the parking lot is ALWAYS empty and could accomodate a lot of Es!

Hang in there. My wife was broadsided in our E, the passenger rear wheel was bent up underneath. It was horrible and being AWD I figured it would never be right again. We insisted on the dealer doing the work (Virginia is a right-to-choose state, you pick the repair shop not the insurance company). Our E is a year from the accident and still runs fine. The service manager at First Team Honda was / is kind of a jerk but the guys that work there really did a great job. I hope all goes well for you.

I bought my E at First Team. I have had no dealings with service there except for the first and only, so far, oil change. It was free. I traded the 'tires for life' for 6 free oil changes. The hook for tires for life is that you have to get all of the service there.

Thanks for the kudos, L.O.Mint, but I can't take all of the credit. Please see post #91 at http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3552&page=10 - "orange cool box" did his installation with bolts. When I tried it, it puckered, so I used zip ties threaded from the back side of the gutter guard, then fed back through, wrapped around the vertical supports and forward again. Once tightened, I cut them off and poked the remainder back through so you couldn't see it. I also used door trim/ding guard stuff on the sides to give it a little cleaner look. I'm very pleased with the results. :)

Yes, the gutter guard is, in fact, taller and wider than the opening. I simply trimmed it a little at a time with tin snips 'til it fit correctly. The bend is already there when you buy it, which is fine by me.

Yes, and sorry for the long absence. Projects due at work and all. The Navy kept me in Virginia Beach forever, now I'm working on the Peninsula, and living near Suffolk in Driver. We bought a small house and a few acres of land out here in 2004, it snowed almost a foot that year right after Christmas. We wouldn't have been able to get in our out of our house if it weren't for the Element. It ran through the snow and ice like it was nothing. My driveway is 600 feet long and circles our house, I drove laps in the E to make a path for our car! The E is a perfect fit for rural living. Anyway, I trust you are keeping Virginia Beach in good shape?

Smart move on the oil change swap. I just ignored the tire offer since it is pretty much a scam. Speaking of tires, I just bought new ones at WallyWorld for my Element. We bought the Uniroyal TigerPaws ($60 each). They handle great and almost half the price of the original Goodyears.

I like the "drove laps" section. I was truly hoping for some real snow this year... *sigh*. Maybe next year.

As far as keeping Va. Beach in "good shape", I assume you're referring to the the rescue squad. Yes, I believe so, and love doing it more than virtually anything else. Concert season is here at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, and we supply the venue with medical staff for each and every function there. It's a great way to help out, and also see some good shows at no charge. Looking forward to it!

You're most welcome. Please note that I screwed up when I placed them, and I didn't do it according to the directions (oops). I measured from the bottom of the door instead of the crease, and had to cut the back pieces to fit. Be your own judge, but I've been pleased so far. I'm dingless either way. Can't speak for those who've done the install correctly.

My hitch link is here: http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23629&highlight=u-haul+hitch

I didn't have it during the meet in Richmond.

Stock?: They had one, but it was spoken for, so they got another for me the next morning. Got a 3:00 appointment and was out by 4.

BEWARE... one of only 2 (in Va. Beach) U-Haul hitch installers would guarantee a Valley hitch... "Depends on what they send me," said the other. BZZZZZZZZ! Wrong answer!

Thanks for the Hello!

I don't know about you guys, but it seems the Elements presence in the area is growing like rabbits in Australia. I Commute from Chesapeake to Newport News everyday, and I am always seeing more and more.

My 2004 was creamed on 664 last fall, and I am very glad to say that my Element is a battle wagon. It took the hit and was able to drive off. I can’t say that much for the Pontiac mini van that hit me. The folks at the Honda dealership in Churchland did a great job fixing it back up. There are no signs that it had ever been scratched, let alone T-boned. I plan to keep this at least long enough for my 4 year old to dive it when he comes of age.

I am on 234 all of the time. Maybe we will run into each other ?? Or better yet meet Kattoon and some others at a meet in MD. 8)
Maybe we can meet if it EVER STOPS RAINING!!! sheesh!

I was thinking maybe meet at Great Falls, but that can be a real pain to get into on the weekends. I think it would be more fun to meet at a park than just in a parking lot ... There are so many to choose from in the DC area, it's quite daunting. What would everyone think about Rock Creek Park? If not, I found a really cool park by accident. It's a bit further away and has a cool name: Devil's Backbone County Park http://www.washco-md.net/public_works/parks/devils.htm
It's not a very large park, but it's very pretty. (It's near Boonsboro)

Anyone else have other suggestions?

It went down hill a while back, but then some rebuilding efforts took place. It ain't as bad as it used to be.

BTW they changed the name...can't remember what the hell they call it now though....Westfield shopping town maybe?

Wheaton white trash rule!

I'm not the biggest Doug Duncan fan, but if his successor completes the Wheaton re-build the way they did Silver Spring, it would be a great place.

That sounds good.

When I hear the name Boonsboro, it reminds me of a young boy playing a banjo on a bridge and Ned Beatty running up a hill squeeling like a pig. I'm sorry. I just suffer from POST-DELIVERENCE SYNDROME.

This area is the E! capitol of the East! I live around B-more but commute to Gaithersburg daily (gas money...) and there are soooo many E!'s on the road! I like the idea of the hang 10 thing as a greeting, i do that when i see other E!'s now anyhow, so that would just rock.

I live in Germantown, MD and work in Rockville and I see quite a few E's on the road in my daily commute. Interstingly enough, I have also been seeing quite a few FJ Cruisers popping up in my neck of the woods as well. :-) Funny thing is that I always pass the same FJ twice a week at the same gas station, knowing I do the same commute but only fill up once a week:D

I am over near College Park/Laurel Maryland- I think I'm the only one in my neighborhood with an E, but the hospital I work at has the exact same E in the parking lot about 75% of the time.

I would love to go to a meet too when the next one come up! I think I've become just a little obsessed with my car.

I'm new to this site - I'm looking to buy an E in the late spring, loved the original '03 but held off for a vriety of reasons. I really like the the '07 with its upgraded safety features and new interior look, I test drove one the other day and love the feel of it! I'm counting the ones I see going to and from work in DC from Funfax and see about six to ten a day. It really is a great wagon compared to the other small SUVs.

Welcome aboard. I'm going to try to answer your questions.

I don't believe there are any particular "groups" on this board. Geographically we're broken down to regions. You live in the region called Mid-Atlantic Element Owners (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=37). There you will find posts that include breakdowns to more specific areas, towns, vicinities, etc.

When you find a thread you'd like to follow, click on "Thread Tools" near the top of the page and "Subscribe" to that thread. Note: If you post on that thread, you don't have to worry about subscribing. You'll be notified when someone posts.

In addition, click on "New Posts" near the top of the page. Lots of great stuff there.

Happy surfing. :D

Hey Diana, welcome to the EOC.:)

First, you do not have a green Element. No one has a green Element. You may own a Galapagos Green or a Kiwi Metallic. Which one are you?

Second, I think the mid-Atlantic chapter is planning Ocean City in July ???

Side steps? I don't have 'em, but I am thinking about it. Lots of EOCers have 'em.

Something in May sounds great since I missed the Spring Fling due to a tire blowout. I am located in the trailer park of Northern Virginia (Woodbridge) not far at all from you. Maybe if we can centralize something so we can get the folks from Virginia Beach to come up that might work out.
