We seem to have alot of people with pups here.. I would like a roll call of either the pup who was your inspiration for getting the Element.. or what reason did you choose to adopt your Element?

I have a 4 year old Border Collie, he is too darn cute!
Meet Streak! (yep this photo is him in the back of my Element, looking out, in perfect posture!) :

http://tina.pirate-king.com/images/My_Cars/Element/MYelem17.jpg

He is the best pup on earth, really, it is true! He is comfortable in any vehicle as long as we are together, but I liked the washable interior so when we hit the muddy trail i don't have to cringe with the velour and carpetting!

I also just fell in love with the Element, it seems like it was made for me, it was the vehicle I have been waiting for!

I would love to hear about (and perhaps see a photo of) your pup(s), his/her name(s) & age(s)!!

Next..

I think I was a little selfish. I loved the car so much I bought it for me :(
But it worked out for Daisy (my Daisy Maisy) Because she is going to absolutely love this car! And nothing brings me more joy than to see her happy :)

We wanted a SUV that we could have the dogs with us, without worrying about all the carpet, and other issues. Most of the small SUV's just did not have the room.

We have 3 dogs, a fat yellow lab (Maple who is 6), an Alaskan Malamute (Lakota who is 5), and a Shep/Whipit mix who is all white with a touch of tan on her ears (she is 3 and her name is Winter).

They love the Element with the seats down, and a blanket over the seats. They have pleny of room, and each has their own window. They share the skylight.

I looked for nearly 2 years for a car that would fit our style with dogs. I wanted to be able to sleep in the car at times and since we hike a lot, the car needed to be able to handle dirty dogs. We went to the Seattle Auto show in 2002 and came away finding nothing that I really liked. The only car I liked was the HUMMER. We were coming close to buying an older Toyota Landcruiser, early '90 had a window that opened in the very back and seats that fold up like the ones in the Element. The Land Cruiser idea was OK, but they are gas hogs and buying a ten year old car did not thrill me

I came home from work one evening in early Dec. and my hubby said, "I've found our car!" He had bee watching TV and see an snippet on the Speed Vision Channel. The rest is history, we bought the car on Dec. 31st.

I love it, my dogs love it with the seats down and a blanket. Right now our snow is melting and we have mud everywhere, so ours is dirty. I wipe it out every other day or so. We are all so happy with our car. I am so glad that auto in general are changing. I never cared for the plush SUV's at all. I want to have fun in my car, fun with my dogs.

I have :

2 Australian Cattle Dogs
1 Catahoula Leopard Dog
1 Jack Russell Terrier

I haul some dogs in crates and some loose. I train and compete in the sport of Agility so spend numerous weekends at trials with my vehicle stuffed with gear.

Can't wait to get the Element organized and ready to travel.

I frequently hike with all 4 dogs and it's a mess when they roll in stinkums or swim in the river, nice to have a wipable car.

Last night when I drove my BRAND new Element home, I stopped at the grocery store. The bottle of liquid laundry soap leaked on the way home and I had a puddle of goo.....LOL...I was so smug as I took a towel and easily wiped it up. Can you imagine how pissed I would have been if that had spilled on new carpeting?

Hey red.. yeah i know what you mean (easy clean interior) at long last huh.. and that is horrible your laundry soap leaked but cool it was so easy to clean (and leaves a nice fresh scent in your vehicle).. smiles.

I have never heard of a "Catahoula Leopard Dog" do tell about that one, and pix would be cool.

My border would be awesome in agility, I love watching them compete.. but i am the one who need training, smiles! (total klutz, another good reason to get the element).

is your image on a website, or do you have a file with the pix?

here are two methods, depending on the location:
Insert image: " http ://i mage_url "

Insert URL: " http ://url or URL text (http :// url)"

Our fantastic website hosts do have the intructions for adding images and sending images on the main owners club message board page:

http://elementownersclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8

[quote:41fb3e999d="webmaster"]When you type a new message, there are several buttons just above the large text box. These buttons allow you to bold, italicize, etc. There's also a "Img" button.

Move your cursor to the location you want to post the image, then click the "Img" button. This inserts the opening "image tag" for your link.

Next, type in the path to your image. So, if your images are on your local server or machine and the address is "http://www.yourdomainhere.com/images/myimage100.jpg" - type that.

Lastly, hit the "Img" button again so it puts the closing image tag on the right of the image path.

If you have questions, please post them here. If you don't have anywhere to store your pics and you want me to post one on our server, I'll do it. Just email me.

Thanks everyone! 8)[/quote:41fb3e999d]

You can see a few of my dogs on this site. Kate the Catahoula is the tall, leggy hound shaped dark blue leopard colored girl.

http://www.irisweb.net/pattysdogs/

The red cattle dog is Annie Oakley, the blue mottle cattle dog is Pizza.

My Jack Russell pup isn't on the site.

They will all be enjoying my Element for years.

Kate:

not sure what you mean by "leggy hound shaped dark blue leopard colored girl. " that is baffling.. what is a dark blue leopard colored girl?

TIP: if you have trouble inserting an image.. go to the image right click, select "properties" then copy the "address" insert that between the two "image" tags...

Reddawg

Great how you copied those pictures right to the board.

When you say right click and copy the address, I'm not sure what you mean and how they end up in the body of your message.

Also, how do you make all the emoticons appear in an email? I can only manage the two obvious ones :-) and ;-)

Kate's color is Blue Leopard, meaning the patchwork/spotted coat color. They call the grey/black "blue" for some reason. She also has blue spots in each of her eyes.

BTW, I adore Border Collies too, just don't happen to have one. Great agility dogs if you can steer them :-)

I have lots of appointments and errands tomorrow, thank goodness, I didn't get to drive my new Element hardly at all today.

Reddawg, thank you.. yeah I have heard the dark-dark black called blue, and the merls called blue-merl. She is gorgeous!!

EMOTICONS: are to the right of the message when you are creating your reply.. you can choose more by selecting "view more emoticons" which ie below the 20 that are shown. just click on the one you want.

INSERTING PHOTOS: there are a few methods.. on my personal site, i have my lil album.. and when you click on the image it shows it larger.. this case you choose "IMG" which is a buttom below the "Subject" line above.. then past the site address (when my image comes up the site address shows on the "address" line of the screen, below your menu bar & toolbar). then you select "IMG" again to close the code.

in other cases, an image can not be made larger, and is with a multi images on the same page.. here you can go to the photo you want, RIGHT click on the image (right button on your mouse) then a menu will pop up, select PROPERTIES, what will show will say General at the top, the protocol, type, address etc.. next to address.. take you cursor and select the address there.. this is the address or location of your image.. place this between the IMG tags.. and your image will show in your message.

let me know if youhave more questions.

I'm so happy to see there are so many dog lovers here! Reddawg, I have an agility course in my back yard! Unfortunately, we never use it, built it for a show we held. We have American Bulldogs that we show and weight pull. I can't wait to travel in the E. Sometimes we arrive to a show site in the wee hours and need to nap a bit- this should be perfect! I hit "insert image" to post a weight pulling pic, but I'm not sure how to do it :(

Well lyonsX2, Honda claims that the interior is waterproof, not cat urine proof! Cat urine and nuclear waste both have a half-life of several thousand years - neither will go away in your lifetime.

Not the sole reason... but a big factor! My wife and I have lots of animals (we do animal rescue as a hobby), but the dogs like to go for a ride.

My dogs:

Joey - 65lb. American Pit Bull (tan and white)
Maddie - funky looking medium size Border Terrier (tan)
Pee Pee Weiner Dog - funky Dachsund /Corgi mix (black)

Peace...

my element was brought totally, completely, 100% due to our dog Digger (big American Bull Dog). Our weekend ritual is to head for the "dog beach" nearby, get him as brackish as possible then load him back into the car.
I'm not saying I don't love the Element for many other reasons but Honda's commerial indicating you could hose down the floor ( I know, I know, don't really put a hose to the inside!) pretty such sealed it for us.

I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. He was bummed out when I left an Expedition and went to a truck. He had to ride in a cage in the back. He was partly the decision to switch back to a Ute-style vehicle.

He's about 85 lbs and fits perfectly behind the rear seats. I figure on long trips I can just lift the seats up to give him more room.

Chessies, that is, but they're only 70 & 55 pounds each. Plus a weimaraner. The only thing that bothered them was the slick floors (weim), so we bought a small rug and put in the back.

Have you visited cbrs4me.com? Or www.teamchesapeake.com?

and my wife couldn't fit in my truck at the same time, so, when I totalled the truck a couple weeks ago, we looked for just the right vehicle, one that would ride well, carry our camping/reenacting gear, that I could take hunting w/o worrying about messing up the interior (deer blood and mud are not kind to carpeting and seats), and would have space to take Lynyrd with us, too.

Here's a pic of Lynyrd the day I rescued him from drowning in an HDPE lined process water retention pond...

http://www.colonialmarket.com/spike/dog2.jpg

He's bigger now, that was in August of last year, and he looked to be 4-5 months old at the time, according to the vet. He's a Black & Tan Coonhound, and when you hear him bark, its pretty obvious...

He's got his own website, http://www.colonialmarket.com/spike/dog.htm but it's not been updated since Christmas....

My dog is not very big, and not particularly active as he's about to turn 13, and has arthritis and cataracts, but I hope he'll like the Element.

Henry is a Wire-Haired Fox Terrier. If you remember "The Thin Man movies about Nick and Nora Charles, their dog Asta was a Wire-Haired Fox Terrier. There's nothing like one. So much personality and so darned cute.

He does love to go in the car. I will say "Where is my Henry's leash?" and he'll get very happy. Then I say "Go on a journey with me!" and he'll get even happier and start trotting to the back door.

Here's a picture of us.

We frequently haul bikes and a big dog and we bought an Element to replace a Toyota pickup that rode like, well, a truck. Long trips were tiring and my wife had to stop far more often than when we drove a car. We think the truck's rough ride sort of sped up certain processes...

Anyway, we can now load two mountain bikes inside and still have room for our 92 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback's bed. She just turned 10 and has arthritis in her hips, but she can get in and out of the Element far easier than the pickup. She stands on the curb and leaps directly onto her bed! Not bad for a big 'ole dog. When we go camping, her preferred spot is on her bed in the Element with all the door open. We have to coax her out to come into the tent with us at night.

This is definitely a conscientious dog owner's vehicle!

We also said good bye to our Toyota Tacoma pick up, they are great trucks.. but sheesh I needed step ladder to get in it.. it was rather high (had the off road suspension, which likely made it higher then normal) I love the access to the E! Much nicer.. and my pup is also happier about it.. he had no problem getting in the truck but sheesh.. after along day of playing it was not too fun for him to go for the running leap to get in.

Ridgebacks are awesome, and hey hellcat your pup is too cute for words, I love that breed too, aw heck I love animals anyhow, but i do have ones I am partial too more then others, naturally my all time favorite is my Border Collie.

I love how the ridgeback does not wanna get out of the E, too cute, sounds like you all are enjoying it that is fabulous!

Probably 75% of the reason I went with the E is my dog and my roommate's two dogs. They are great friends and love to go out together. My E makes it possible. From oldest to youngest: Zeke, Rott, 3 yrs. . .Lexis, Blue Great Dane, 2.5 years. . .Skyler, Blue Dane, 1.5 years. From biggest to smallest, just reverse the order. I figure it's 350 pounds of dog. Although the fighting over the little cracks of the back windows is annoying!

Enjoy the summer everyone!!! 8)

My dogs were a considerable influence on my choice of an E. (Actually, the preliminary selection was made by a friend, who happens to be the GM of one of the local Honda Dealers. He used to be GM of a Dodge dealership -- which explains why my last two vehicles were an '85 Ramcharger and a '95 Grand Caravan Sport.)

But any vehicle I ended up with had to be Dog Friendly. That means, back seat. Convertible would have been nice, but it also had to be able to tow my boat (which the E can. Barely.) The only convertable I knew of that could do that would be a 78 Cadillac or 69 Bel Aire. So the Element was the obvious choice.

We have 95 lb Rhodesian Ridgeback named Zeke, who influenced our car buying a great deal! He loves to run and swim and find mud to put in the car. This seemed like a great choice. The only twinges of guilt I have had with the element have been

1. Depriving him of his own window. He loves to put his head out (please no angry emails about a rock putting his eye out, I know.)

2. He was slipping and sliding until I found the post about the 12.49 carpet from Wal-Mart - much better now!

That being said he obviously loves the car. The first time he saw it he jumped over the closed tailgate through the open glass hatch!

Would kind of like for him to stay in the cargo area but it is not working out - he just hurdles the rear seats to hang out with us up front.

I have two full grown Beagles. Like mosty evrything in my life, they were a heavy influence on my decision. They are happy they get to go Bye Bye more than they did when I had my Civic. It was just too hard to deal with two dogs in something that small.

They have thier own Tent that they ride in in the E, keeps the hair from flying everywhere, and they use it outside as well. They are just a little spoiled.

Nothing like a 20+k dog house, eh?

Most definitely bought the car for the dog. I have a dog who has a serious case of separation anxiety so I began shopping for a dog friendly auto so I can take her with me (I figure no separation; no separation anxiety!) I anxiously awaited the GMC Envoy with the sliding roof to come on to showrooms, only to learn that it costs about $40,000 and Consumer Reports gives it a poor reliablity rating. That's when someone told me about the interior of the E. I figured that was a young kids' car so was cynical about it working for me, an aging boomer. Huh; was I ever wrong. I fell in love with the car. It's perfect for my lifestyle; it's perfect for the dogs. I'm anxious to see how many people buy this car because of their dogs. If statistics warrent it, maybe Honda will begin to design more conveniences in the car that would appeal specifically to the dog owner.

I can't say I bought my E because of my dogs...but they do love it. Definitely didn't need all the room for the dogs seeing as one is a 5lb Yorkshire terrier and the other is a 9lb mini Dachshund....but hey...they think they're big dogs!

After living in Anchorage Alaska for 2 years with 3 dogs, I must say the Element was definitely purchased because of the dogs. Anyone who has been through the joys of winter breakup at the dog parks will understand what I mean. Not to mention how fun it was to put 3 dogs in a Corolla. Oh yeah, and now I dont have to deal with the black interior either. (2 dogs are fawn colored and one is black).

I always wanted an SUV type vehicle, but my husband swore my next car was going to be a mini van. I hate mini vans (sorry no offense, but my only kids are dogs). When we were shopping for his S2000, I fell in love with the Element.

The fact that I bought a car without test driving it should tell Honda something (and not that I am a moron). This vehicle is a large dog kennel. and if you dont believe it, just look at this:

The easy-to-clean aspect of the Element is what did it for my wife. We have 2 Miniature Schnauzers that make a HUGE mess after a good long run in the park, especially on muddy days!

Why on earth vehicles have cloth and floor rugs is beyond me. :)

We've got a 1.5 year old BC named Kirby...has a habit of laying down in the nearest mud puddle right before jumping into the car. No longer a problem!!
I'll post some pics soon, but for now check out:

Mine only holds one Jack Russell Terrier, but needed room for the tunnel and hurdles.

The Element was her consolation prize, this is what she really wanted:

One reason we purchased the E is that our border collie gets car sick. It is much easier to clean-up. Also the whole family can travel in comfort, without the dog having to sit on my lap for 4+ hours.

Have you tried a static strip? (Attaches the underside of the car.) Anyone I have know with a car sick dog this solved the problem. Don't know why but they swear it works.

ok heres the psuedo(puh*sway*doh)-science...
1) rub dog vigorously against sweater.
2) stick dog to strip on underside of car.
3) motion-sick dog vomits on road & not in car.
4)
ummmm... yeah, don't try this at home kids
