: Line Drawings of the E?
Elementless 12-20-2004, 12:50 PM Does anyone know where I can get line drawings of the Element? Something like this Mini Cooper drawing. I've searched Google, without much luck.
I'm experimenting with 3D animation software & found a tutorial on creating a 3D car from 2D drawings. It would be fun to play with a 3D Element.

T Mac 12-20-2004, 02:48 PM Wow!!!! Just look at all those 90 degree angles!! Holy smokes!! No wonder everybody thinks it looks so boxy! Yikes!
LOL
Sorry. The image above further illustrates how "unboxy" the E really is. Soapbox over. hehe.
Elementless 12-20-2004, 03:17 PM Outstanding, Ramblerdan!
Is there any way to get my hands on a higher-resolution image? If not, the one you posted should work fine.
ramblerdan 12-20-2004, 03:28 PM Any higher, and Honda's lawyers will come after me.
Phreaxer 12-21-2004, 12:52 AM Sorry. The image above further illustrates how "unboxy" the E really is. Soapbox over. hehe.
IMHO the interior space is MUCH more 'boxy' than the exterior.
Elementless 12-25-2004, 01:47 PM Here's what I've modeled so far. It represents about 6 hours work. I guess I'm about half done.
Still need to carve out the doors and windows, and separate the composite panels from the painted ones.
Then the fun really begins... the animation!
nippoelement2 12-25-2004, 04:11 PM wow sweet 3d pics. i think i wil use the line drawings for t shirt designs
gazoo 12-25-2004, 07:06 PM What software are you using?
Elementless 12-25-2004, 08:44 PM I'm using 3ds max, by Discreet. I'm a mediocre 3d artist, but I found this excellent tutorial on modeling cars from 2D line drawings:

gazoo 12-26-2004, 06:02 AM oh sweet. I have that app I think. What I lack is any artistic talent.
Elementless 12-27-2004, 02:54 PM Relatives have left. Back to tweaking the 3D Element...
Elementless 12-29-2004, 09:23 PM I think I'm about done with the 3D model. I need to come up with an interesting short animation.
Here are a few color combinations...
gazoo 12-29-2004, 09:38 PM wow. I need to learn how to use this program!
BriBoy01 12-30-2004, 01:06 AM WOW amazing work. Make sure and post those animations when you get done! Hook me up with on in Eternal blue pearl. One suggestion and maybe it just caught my eye but you didnt cut out the rear hatch. a simple fix if your trying to be perfect but im sure most wouldnt notice.
P3,FOYFN 01-02-2005, 08:54 PM Wow, that's really good. Maybe some animations could be the doors opening and the windshield wipers moving. Can you do lighting, cause If you can you could put headlights on it. How about bump-mapping? Have you tried anything with that?
Theelements 01-02-2005, 09:00 PM i do like that yellow one!
Elementless 01-03-2005, 11:37 PM It is possible to add more detail, but it would be a lot of work & I need to move on to other projects.
However color changes and simple animations are easy to do. I posted a few at...
