: Name of your Element
OK, this is going to sound a bit strange, but we have always named our cars. We have a huge Olds 88 Lux that was blue. We named that the Blue Whale.
Anyway, we worked on a name for our Element, and after several back and forths, we came up with the name SUMO.
Do any other people out there name thier cars/trucks? If you do, what did you name it?
silver 02-05-2003, 10:41 AM Was planning to buy the Silver EX and my little guy would refer to the car as "Silver". We ended up doing a switch to Shorline Mist but, he still called the car Silver. Sooooooo, yes we named ours SILVER.
Elemental Tom 02-05-2003, 03:22 PM :D I named mine "Little E" after the race car driver and it's size!
isketerol 02-05-2003, 04:10 PM I have had three trucks which I called Bertha. When I get my "E", I will refer to her as "Elsie".
Iskie
BCatJRZ 02-05-2003, 10:13 PM going to get my organe 4x4 ex from the dealer 2morrow... have already got a name picked out
"Juice Box"
cruves are for women not cars... i'm so pumped  :P
elementH3 02-06-2003, 01:05 AM As you can see by my username i named my SOP ex H3 (like the Hummer H2) only smaller and better......   :lol
p.s. just mate a H2 with a Mini Cooper and you get a Element!!!! :P
When it comes, it'll be called "My Little Black Box".
It just seems to fit!
RayO
GYPSYTDA 02-06-2003, 08:38 AM I LOVE these names.. juuice box, etc.. awesome.. soo cool!
Mine did not take a long thought it was immediate.. her name...
Ellie-Mae!
Classy yet down to earth type a gal that she is.. well must be a she to me.. my prelude was a guy.. i could tell my integra is a girl (with those adorable round headlights)..
Just a sense I have, that is all.
Looks kinda like a bull-dog too, that was my hubbies impression.. but he works with a guy named bulldog so that was just not an option.
lon777 02-07-2003, 02:03 AM The name for my blue beauty - "The blue UPS truck". Like UPS, it really hauls!!
GYPSYTDA 02-07-2003, 09:59 AM ok since UPS calls themselves "Brown" we call yours "Blue"?? smiles.. yeah that is cute, though it reminds me more of those old mail trucks.. ironically as a kid the mail truck was the same color combo as the prototype was, creepy huh,
Reddawg 02-07-2003, 11:43 AM Love the name "Juice Box" LOL
I call mine Baby Hummer
I'm quite sure it's the first in my county, people stop me everywhere I go to inspect her.
My driveway is 1/4 mile long and we got 7" snow last night, I didn't plow but Hummer chugged right out to the road like there was no snow, and easily plowed through the snowplow mound at the end of my drive.
How nice, this 4x4 stuff *is* what it's cracked up to be!
Patty
GYPSYTDA 02-07-2003, 11:52 AM yepper snow NO prob.. we have nearly a foot here, and we do not believe in shoveling apparently Element agrees with that, just happy went through it noo problem.. delightful creature!
cute name...Reddawg with the baby hummer.. awww
Carla 02-07-2003, 05:37 PM I call my Blue 4WD EX "Buster." From the demographic, you know....
LittleDogBox 02-07-2003, 07:28 PM [quote:af85e96968="RML"]OK, this is going to sound a bit strange, but we have always named our cars. We have a huge Olds 88 Lux that was blue. We named that the Blue Whale.

I don't have my Element yet but I do name my vehicles. I presently have a 13 year old Jeep Wrangler. When I first got her ( yes it's a she ), I got caught in the rain with the top down. So henceforth her name has been Raindrop. :)
GYPSYTDA 02-07-2003, 07:41 PM LittleDogBox: aww that is sooo cute.. raindrop.. that is darn precious!
Carla: Buster fits, it really dones.. I love that Demographic Buster.. and blue.. aww cool,
of course ya all know what color I am partial too!
johnord 02-09-2003, 12:21 PM  We named ours "Spike", "lil' Grunt" might be a good one!
DrAlbertLee 02-12-2003, 09:34 AM As mentioned in another post, I have now christened my Green EX Element "THE TURTLE."
This is a most appropriate name for several reasons: 1) "Galapagos Green" reminds me of the Galapagos Islands explored by Charles Darwin (Yes, I used to teach Biology), and well known inhabitants of those islands are the Galapagos Turtles. 2) Turtles carry their "houses" (shells) with them as they travel. Shucks, "dorm rooms" are like little houses, aren't they? 3) The Element has a cute "boxey" appearance, just like box turtles. 4) etc., etc., etc.
OrangeEman 02-12-2003, 09:54 AM Name: SpongEEEbob
Ger Brassfield 02-13-2003, 11:09 PM Why, the only logical name for us is....."Miss Elly"
GYPSYTDA 02-14-2003, 10:56 AM Ger Brassfield: Close cousin to my Ellie Mae, eh?
okfine 02-14-2003, 11:11 AM My first Honda was Happy the Honda. My family put their foot down on that one for my Element. No go. After three days of pondering we came up with "Gibby" for Girl in Black (yes, my Element is black).
burnt-O 02-14-2003, 08:11 PM My secretary said the front of my E looks like a bat, so I now refer to it as the Batmobile! 8)
HansBlix 02-15-2003, 10:03 AM I named my Element Harpoon/SLAM after the AGM-85E missle that may be used in an attack against an enemy. It is powereed by teledyne turbo jet and carries a penetrating high explosive 488 lb warhead capable of wreaking mass destruction on an adversary. Just like my little Element!
Haven't named mine yet...call it a "Hummer Lite" on occasion...
When we drive it though we call it "Rollin' on E" For those of you that don't know, this is a slang term that kids use when talking about being high (or consuming or whatever) on the drug Ecstasy. I'm an ER nurse, my sense of humor is both depraved and sick and I know too much about drugs....
GYPSYTDA 02-15-2003, 05:31 PM [quote:31714697fa="HansBlix"]I named my Element Harpoon/SLAM after the AGM-85E missle that may be used in an attack against an enemy. and yet your Element has a duo name here is your other post "I named my element Louie Anderson after the rotund comedian/game show host"
Which Element did you get, and are you crossed between names?
Finally became the Dad of my new E on Thursday and immediately new that my original name (Little Black Box) was wrong for this baby. It is definitely gonna be known as "STUBBY". Love it for the first 350 miles so far.
RayO[/i][/b]
SPACE E 02-23-2003, 07:41 PM Because it's kinda ugly in an adorable way, sorta rusty brown, and has all these cool folds!
Reddawg 02-23-2003, 09:38 PM TOO CUTE
:0)
;-)
:P
:D
Aykew 02-24-2003, 08:39 AM Just got my SOP element yesterday... her name is "Tardis", because it's much bigger inside than it is outside!
toastyapricot 02-26-2003, 10:29 PM My last car was a misubishi Montero and my brother bought one too. We had a burgundy mitsi and a blue mitsu.
Not sure yet what to name the little orange critter yet.....
bigmobrown 02-26-2003, 11:36 PM Hi Everybody!
I'm glad to know that my wife and I are not the only ones who name their vehicles. :D We named our new Shoreline Mist EX, "Ellie Mae," before we even figured out which model to buy. It just seemed fitting somehow.
Our 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo is named "Carlos". I know...pretty lame.
Here some of our previous vehicles:
Chevy Silverado - Silvia, Honda CRV - Casper, Ford Bronco - Nellie, Ford Bronco II - Bart, Chevy Van - Wendy, VW Van - Helga, Chevy camper van - Bertha, Ford Camper Van - Beulah, Holiday Rambler motorhome - Harvey...just to name a few!
fosterbo 02-28-2003, 09:04 PM I'm going to call my new Element "Watson" when he gets here. Actually, Sherlock Holmes never said "It's elementary, my dear Watson." That quote came from Hollywood.
trackboy1001 02-28-2003, 10:30 PM I just called the dealer. My E hasn't been born yet, but is due in the next 10 days or so. I plan to name my E 'Emmitt'
My name for my SM EX 5sp is Mist-E, but that may change once I take delivery and live with it for awhile.
I once pre-named a cat 'goober', but once she was home for a few days, it was clear her name was Ansel... :D
-jdef
 We named our SOP E 'BEVO' after the University of Texas mascot.
2003 SOP Element
2002 Civic Coupe
SPACE E 03-07-2003, 01:18 PM The Aggies in my family hate my SOP.
Who cares? It didn't come in red. Go Coogs anyway!
Sunstoke 03-07-2003, 06:04 PM Exxxcellent!!! (Big Simpson's fan!)
M Ornett 03-08-2003, 07:53 AM The Armadillo or Dillo for short. Ours is Shoreline Mist which is close to the color of an armadillo, plus they're (element & armadillo) kinda boxy and awkward looking. Also, we're in Texas, so it just fit.
Wandermut 03-11-2003, 08:26 PM When my pers. plates arrive, they will bear the nicknamesake of myself and my pooch -WNDRMUT- Sound familiar? glance left. Speaking of wandermut, my dog Cassius tested the easy clean interior the first day I had the car . I guess he wwas a little uneasy being in the new rig, but it was no biggie. had to christen it some time. since then it's been smooth sailin' . Cash loves that he can have a nice big flat bed in the back with his favorite blanket. A wandermut with a wondermut in their WNDRMUT.
Anthony 03-12-2003, 03:46 AM I took my four year old daughter with me to pick up my new E the other day. Somehow, we've gotten into the odd habit of naming our Hondas (I was a Service Manager at a repair shop, so of course I only buy Hondas  )... White Lightning, The Brown Turd...etc. My daughter took one look at the newest member of our fleet and proclaimed..."Fluffy!". So that's what I'm stuck with. Fluffy. Needless to say, I was hoping for something a little cooler. but by the time we drove the E around and showed it of to everyone back home, the name had stuck. Fluffy. At least she loves the Element as much as I do... besides, "a rose by any other name..." and all that.
-Anthony
P.s.- it's good to know I don't belong to the only insane family, out naming their cars!
Jammantooth 03-14-2003, 08:41 PM the weekend we bought our e, we went to a local club to hear some bands. while we were waiting to get in and after drawing everyones attention to the element, we looked back at it ourselves. then we noticed we had parked beside a dumpster and in the night w/dim light it also looked like a dumpster. so for now it has been dubbed "the dumpster".
Macromonkey 03-16-2003, 11:03 PM I have to admit i had to reach back in a popculture referance for the name i chose.
Scooter
It just seemd to fit....And the one thing i've noticed, Elements are just to happy of cars...look at most of the names, you don't have Evil sounding names....then again who knows someone might call thier Satan's Statonwagon just to prove me wrong.
Ger Brassfield 03-16-2003, 11:12 PM I do not name my cars........they are just cars! However wifey wanted to name it, so I let her call it Miss Elly. Big Whoop! :x
Macromonkey 03-16-2003, 11:17 PM Hey now. Naming Car's isn't a bad thing...Every Car i've ever owned had a name, It just goes to show how much you like/enjoy your car. Now i have to admit i've had a car or two with names that wern't soo wonderful...thats mainly because they wern't wonder cars......
And this isn't just a girly thing (then again comming from a guy thats kinda obvious) but Look at all the Bomber's from WWII....they had names....
Okie rant over.... :)
I do wonder how many people Choose Eli for a name (my girlfriend started with that untill scooter came to mind...and then since then Scooter its been)
boneheadz 03-17-2003, 08:28 AM I can't come up with a name for my nighthawk.
If I had bought sop, Abby, the color matches the desert.
Blue, It big, boxy and square, The Tick.
If they made red, Pinch-E (Homer Simpsons pet lobster)
I'm stuck for a name.
M Ornett 03-17-2003, 11:57 AM The Black Box.
boneheadz 03-17-2003, 12:15 PM Its such a good name its been taken.
M Ornett 03-17-2003, 12:36 PM There's a rock band called Noir Desir (black desire) - that could be a neat name. Except if you have negative feelings about the french - they're a french alternative-punk band. Anyway Noir sounds kinda cool.
boneheadz 03-17-2003, 12:38 PM Canadian's are usually okay with the french. Its our own french we don't do too well with. The name is pretty good, it sound a little kinky. Almost a S&M feel not sure what image I would project.
JE_ELEMENT_TN 03-18-2003, 09:55 PM The first time I saw the new Mercedes G600 Wagon, I wanted one. There's a problem though. There over $70,000.00. Nevertheless, instead of the G Wagon, I have a E Wagon. Another thing. People constantly say to me, " that looks like a little hummer. Why didn't you just get a hummer." I tell them, I have 30 thousand reasons why I didn't get a hummer. They look at me so strange. Then I have to explain that every reason equals one dollar. 30 thousand dollars difference in price.
Inmyelement 03-19-2003, 04:25 AM I have always named my cars.. my parents did too. It was gonna be Ellie Element...but now that I've test drove 3 of them and sat in countless units I have found them to be masculine. Hank the Honda..Henry, Ernie the element (we know an ernie can do it!) I have two Greyhounds so he could be "the hound hauler" there's a BUS joke in there but I won't go there! I guess its gonna be "Little Eiho" which has a great story behind it. Yeah, my "Little Eiho" at your service! LOL
dexter19 03-22-2003, 02:58 AM i call mine "GEX' its a GG 4wd EX
HondaHummer 03-22-2003, 05:14 AM I have wanted a Hummer for more than 10 years, that darn $100,000.00 price kept getting in the way. Then they tease me with the H2; rumor has it that it will be $70,000.00 which wasn't any better than an H1, still too far from my vehicle budget. When they finally introduce the H2 at $48,000.00 (plus $8000 in options I want) it was closer, but still did not make sense for a couple of reasons - well, about 30,000 reasons. Hence, to bring this diatribe to an end - I have named my Element HondaHummer. 8)
SpcCwby30 03-23-2003, 07:34 PM For now I am calling mine SLIM (Shore Line Mist) but I am not comfortable with it. Still looking. A buddy of mine just got back from it's first road trip to Taos. I hurt my back really bad fly fishing and the ride back was actually not bad. I took the back/front passenger seats down, threw a big thermarest and a sleeping bag down and slept for 3 hours. Could never done that in my Rodeo. Maybe since I was stretched out I should call it LANCE (short for AmbuLANCE) 8)
boneheadz 03-23-2003, 08:56 PM LANCE, that the most creative yet, love it hope it sticks.
The two most important things I need from my transportation, (beside get from a to b), is carrying gear and sleeping in it. I build a tent for my dakota that worked pretty good, but had to take it down to go riding. I love the element because I can roll out of bed and drive to the trail head.
I am leaning toward naming my nbp Nomad.
droidian 03-24-2003, 03:09 PM I'm leaning toward something like, The "Droidmobile" or "The Droidbox". Still haven't decided for sure yet.
4grins 03-24-2003, 07:11 PM We picked up my SOP beauty on Friday!! LOVE IT!! My dad called and asked if THE GREAT PUMPKIN had arrived... the rest is history. The name has just stuck. My two boys have already broken it in pretty well. Haven't given the dogs a chance yet.
Sunstoke 03-25-2003, 09:14 PM Awesome!! 8)
I got my SOP EX on Saturday, (my weblog entry with 1 pic is here (http://www.keanuvision.com/archives/000851.html#000851)).
Does anyone remember "Station" from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey?
I call my E the "Station" Wagon.
Sunstoke 03-26-2003, 04:04 PM Yeah, we got totally lied to by our album covers, man! 8)
StLouisPenguin 03-26-2003, 08:02 PM Well I haven't gotten my Element yet.....but for me it will take driving her for a while....I have always named my cars and my family's cars....
1993 White Chevy Cavalier....Casper The Fridendly, yet Invisible Car (on my first road trip I almost got hit like 30 times....so we decided it was invisible)
My mom's 1980 Gold Civic Wagon....Butterscotch
My Mom's Gray Ford Escort Wagon.....Licorice....it had burgundy interior
My Brother's Gray Cavalier.....Eeyore (also considering this for my Element)
My Brother's International Travel All....The Truckster
My Brother's 1966 Ford Mustang.....Red Ruckas
My Mom had a Gold Oldmosbile that we named The Golden Nugget and called her Nuggie for short
The List could go on forever....but those were the most memorable....I am sure that my Element's name will come after I get it! I can hardly wait!!!!
Diane
geeler 03-26-2003, 08:06 PM Roger Rabbit.
Greybear 03-26-2003, 08:06 PM I'm getting a green Element. I'm too old to go cute with names. Combining green (earth) with the word Element, I come up with GOLEM.
The Golem was a Jewish sage figure, made out of clay and revived by calling the Gods. It would obey your every command, but if you made it work on the Sabbath, it would go about destroying stuff. My GOLEM will not mind working on Sunday. But ridicule is another matter....
So... go ahead and laugh at my GOLEM. Make my day....
Chuck
Black Elephant 03-27-2003, 10:21 AM I call mine the Black Elephant.
nickoel 03-27-2003, 01:58 PM My SOP is "THE BIG KAHUNA" my TIKI's are placed strategically through out it to ward off any danger and unwelcome people.
artdude102 03-27-2003, 04:02 PM :D
Elementary my Dear!
Magikent 03-28-2003, 07:11 PM Plan on getting my SOP EX as soon as I sell my current SUV. I am going to call it "THE CLOWN CAR." So small from the outside, can fit a troop of circus clowns on the inside.. . .plus it says something about the driver
PepperJaxx 03-30-2003, 08:55 AM
Call mine HumBug. Breed a beetle with a Hummer and you get HumBug.
Call'n my (silver Element)"Spike" (since it looks a lot like a bull-dog I had). "Tonka" was the runner-up name. :D
XCElement 04-01-2003, 12:05 AM simply, the BRICK
hambone 04-01-2003, 08:30 AM i bought mine to done a bit 'o travelling and to just have something to do a 'get-away' weekeed in...
figured i would call it the 'lil think tank'
SF Honda H2 04-01-2003, 08:43 PM We call ours "The School Bus" although HONDA H2 will be on the plates when we finally get them.
alegresha 04-02-2003, 07:44 AM I go tomorrow to get my element. I am thinking about the name:
BABYHUM
raydrums 04-02-2003, 06:16 PM "FunkE" works for mE :)
My SOP EX is called "Atrus", after the lead character in the Myst game series.... unique, adventurous, smart, powerful. Perfect.
The last car I had was a 3-door yellow Saturn coupe named "Diane". :)
Drew
EternalElement 04-12-2003, 08:49 PM My wife and I call it our little "Toaster Oven".
Mines the Galpogas Green Toad
Pecoskid66 04-15-2003, 08:53 PM Okay, it's good to know I am not the only one. I named my Shoreline Mist Ellemae! Couldn't resist!
Pecoskid66 04-15-2003, 08:59 PM Somewhere I read that there is button on the stereo system that you punch when you are driving through a fast food drive through that automatically lowers the stereo volume. Can't find it in the instruction booklet. Does anyone else know about this button and where it is. I can't find it anywhere. And, yes, I eat junk food!! :?
dr komodo 04-16-2003, 10:00 PM "Fugly". But, man, I love it.
natural wonder 04-17-2003, 07:35 AM My SOP is sort of a paprika pumpkin color, so calling it the SpiceBox just seemed to fit. Like a spicebox, the treat is on the inside. Best darn Toybox I've ever seen!
Zimmonium 04-19-2003, 12:33 PM My Pharmacist Fiance (and co-owner of L'element) haven't settled on a name yet.
However, throughout pharmacy school, my fiance (Dr. Zimmerman) always said that if he got to name an element on the periodic chart, he would call it Zimmonium - so we do joke that our car runs on Zimmonium.
Does anyone else drive around and make jokes about being "in their element?" I love using the name of this car in a sentence. I guess it's the English major in me...
billybud 04-20-2003, 10:21 AM Yeah...we have been referring to our E on order as "Watson"...
From Sherlock Holmes, since you may like literature.
billybud 04-20-2003, 10:23 AM For those who aren't up on Sherlock..it's the often used phrase..."Its elementary, my dear Watson."
Flaime 04-20-2003, 12:46 PM I've never really named any of my cars before, but after driving my E for a month now, names like "Bug Killer", Bug Collector", or "The Exterminator" come to mind.
RSpen 04-22-2003, 10:54 PM I've only had "ELMO" for a week, but I already think he's the best vehicle ever. 8)
TheLusciousHellcat 04-22-2003, 11:37 PM I started naming vehicles when I had my first car. A good car will tell you its name and gender.
My best car name was a Rodeo named Sophie. She was Sophie Trucker, a bawdy old dame. That was a pretty good vehicle for me. Since then I've had another Sophie (I transfered the katra of Sophie from vehicle to vehicle - if you didn't see Star Trek III, don't ask), a red Trooper named Ruby(wrecked on ice), and Ruby's successor, Silver Surfer. Of all my cars, Silver Surfer is definitely the most male.
I am thinking if I get Galapagos Green, I'm going to ask the heavens to bring me the Spirit of Sophie again and she'll be Sophie E. Trucker.
My husband had a Camry named Cammie and when he got the champagne colored Lexus as a successor she was Chammy. His cars were definitely female, because they were bitchy, jealous and really didn't like me.
tblask 04-23-2003, 09:50 PM Somehow "GalaGreenBullPup" insinuated itself into 'our' lives (more stage-name or nom de plume don't you think?); and "beepbeep" kinda floats around as the quick-draw call when I want 'her' to fetch or come to me or
it's time to feed her or go to the store...Cheers! beepbeep
pookSter 04-24-2003, 08:13 AM Mine is named "The Pook Mobile".
It's parked in "the pookSter's lair" which is located in Pookville. Hmm, see a pattern here?
JoeDentist 04-24-2003, 04:14 PM When mine arrives, it will be "Watson."
zelda 04-25-2003, 11:33 AM Mine is Zeldaa! I pull a 1953 travel trailer so I gave her a nice strong name of the same period!
magicrat 04-25-2003, 04:31 PM Mine is: "Orange Crush"
boneheadz 04-25-2003, 06:49 PM Lots have names, but does anyone else have a theme song
isketerol 04-25-2003, 10:01 PM I was trying to get the Ponderosa theme song for you, boneheadz, but I could not find it anywhere!
My theme song would be 21st Century Schizoid Man.
Iskie
bubble709 04-26-2003, 12:55 AM mine is simple...I called mine "Boxy"
whonowz 04-27-2003, 09:00 PM My wife keeps referring to our GG EX as the Munster-mobile. Herman comes to mind. :?
Wayne 05-01-2003, 04:07 PM I hope to meet my new E in person next week. He will be named Elliot.
pickupstix 05-05-2003, 12:29 AM I plan on buying a Shoreline Mist Metallic and was thinkin' of calling her Sandy
When my friends ask me what color I am getting, and I say Shoreline, EVERYONE ASKS IF IT WILL BE BLUE
shoreline....
HEMan 06-03-2003, 02:28 PM My Element should arrive in about 2 weeks. It shall be named ------
EL Dude
1manparty 06-03-2003, 05:43 PM My wife thinks my E looks like an alien, so she named it E.T.
Staggie 06-03-2003, 06:46 PM Well, I don't have a name yet (and it's day 5), but I have ordered the license plate "BOXECAR". Almost everything is taken here in CA (e.g. TOYBOX,BOXCAR,ELMENTL & variants etc.) so it took a while to come up with something.
firefly13 06-04-2003, 10:33 AM Just brought my 'baby' home last night (SOP, EX, 4WD, 5spd) and he/she doesn't have a name yet....have to wait & see what sticks. Although the more I think about it being orange with the sweetest little black pinstripe...Tigger has been running through my head....with vanity plates TIDBLGR - how Tigger spells his name T-i-double G- er
...my Green Explorer Sport is the Reptar Wagon (I am Reptar hear me ROAR!!! - from Rugrats).
Not only do I name my cars, but I name them for my friends & family as well. My sister's 92 red Mazda 323 was Apple Car her whole life (was just carted off to car heaven last week)..it looked just like a red delicious apple!
...yeah, well anyways.....glad to see I'm not the only crazy one!
Enjoy!!!
Christine
maehslane 06-04-2003, 12:03 PM We used to own an 81 Honda Civic that I named "Bonzai" because at 65 mph the car's manual transmission just screamed. Best car we ever owned. We currently own a blue 89 Accord that we call "bluebird" (the speedometer cable chirps). We have tried to come up with a name for our new Element, but don't have one yet. I guess we will have to wait for this one to name itself too.
Slowhand 06-04-2003, 04:45 PM "Nemo". It's easy to find my Nemo in the parking lot, it's a SOP!
Mine has been named "Elmo". Although until I take delivery of it I suppose I should refer to it as "Absent"
isketerol 06-04-2003, 06:32 PM I have given my "Elsie" a last name - "Surefoot". We have had buckets of rain this afternoon which my "Elsie" handled very well. My old Chevy S-10 would have required me to drop in to second and ease, gently ease off the clutch for risk of spinning the rear wheels. "Elsie" is a much better behaved girl, hence her new last name of "Surefoot".
firefly13 06-06-2003, 08:22 AM She finally has a name....Spicey :)
Not terribly original, I know, but it seems to have stuck...
I was showing her off to a friend, and she said "I like the color...it's spicey!"...then she said that she had been a little afraid when I told her it was orange....
and I was thinking to myself... yeah...she IS a little Spicey (just like me!!!)
hee hee!
Christine
cratE 06-06-2003, 09:14 PM I named mine "The Crate" due to its brownish (SMM) color, boxy style, and carrying ability.
P.S. My last two cars were called "The Fridge" (white '94 Dodge Caravan) and "Agent Orange" (hemi orange '72 Dodge Challenger).

yelapa 06-18-2003, 06:50 PM "Ed"

zozohead 06-19-2003, 08:05 AM I call mine "my car".
TheLusciousHellcat 06-19-2003, 08:46 AM Let's see
My car's a girl
Orange.
Crazy in the best way.
Lots of fun.
In for the long haul.
Who else could she be but......... LUCY!
P3,FOYFN 06-19-2003, 07:05 PM Lucy's an awsome name!
dougola 06-19-2003, 08:58 PM Okay, I finally gave it some thought and came up with the perfect name.
EEyore. not that I or my "E" are depressed, it's just so depressing to see so many people not driving an E! :D :D :D
Elementary Watson 06-23-2003, 09:10 PM I had thought long and hard on this, seeing my club name, it was obviously going to be Watson. Then I saw three or four on here.
So I'm thinking about calling her, Casey Jones. I drove a couple of co-workers to lunch on Friday, and one guy commented that she took turns like driving on rails.
And, if it wasn't for the references to Cocaine, in the song by the Dead, she'd have her own theme song. The wife wouldn't understand. But if I don't tell her......
Other theme songs, "City of New Orleans", the "casey Jones song we all heard as a kid".
TennesseE 06-23-2003, 09:25 PM We call our E Seaside after the town along Florida county road 30a by the same name. Took her there last week. Wonderful place. http://www.seasidefl.com.
drmabq 06-30-2003, 06:44 PM "Babar" :D
(Didn't I read somewhere that the guys at one of the Honda factories referred to the Es as "Elephants"?)
richc 07-02-2003, 02:41 PM Well we picked ours up and have been calling it "The Clown Car" ever since.
element-b 07-02-2003, 07:05 PM hmmm whats a good name for an E?
..... this sounds good and fits the E well
"Reverend Box"
*thumbs up*
elementlady 07-02-2003, 11:58 PM I finally named my new girl today! Emma-Mae or Emmie for short!
EBP DX
i joined the club using my e's name: OPIE.
the signature explains it all!
StLouisPenguin 07-07-2003, 04:44 PM cute...very cute Opie.....two points for creativity!
I've been thinking of different names.. cant decide yet..
There are the names that start with E:
Eleanor
Elly
And girls names that I like:
Samantha
Sabrina
Jody
There are other names too, but I just cant remember them at the moment.
Lve2laff 07-10-2003, 10:34 AM 8)
Lula is the name of my new Element. This comes from a writer whom I love-Janet Evanovich--and the adventures of Stephanie Plum and her side kick--LULA....a large woman who gets herself into much trouble....Any Plum readers out there?
LaJollaElement 07-10-2003, 01:02 PM or Tonka for short.
My folks didn't let me have trucks when I was younger. "Trucks are for boys!" So, revenge is sweet. I have a giant life-size one now!!!
VengaBus 07-15-2003, 04:52 PM The VengaBus! Just got it Friday, from the dealer's lot drove to Rehoboth Beach, DE for the weekend. Awsome vehicle! 8)
keysbartender 07-15-2003, 05:11 PM I started calling mine the elephant and it just stuck with us[/b]
Smyth 07-15-2003, 10:06 PM I call mine "Crash"

:-)
I can laugh about it now... but I know my back pocket is not laughing.
I just feel good that everyone is ok... cause it could have been a whole lot worse. Check the link to understand what I am saying.
switters 07-17-2003, 02:04 PM my wife and i just got our gg ex 2wd last night. haven't had a enough time with it to learn name or gender. we traded my old bmw as part of the transaction for the element. the bmw was a 1987 325is with 256,000 miles on it. her name was molly.
as of right now, the element is feeling rather masculine to me. just not sure yet.
maybe japhy.

Babar 09-01-2003, 09:34 AM Babar, King of the Elements.
dazy12 09-02-2003, 11:15 AM [quote:d37083fea8="M Ornett"]or Dillo for short. Ours is Shoreline Mist which is close to the color of an armadillo, plus they're (element & armadillo) kinda boxy and awkward looking. Also, we're in Texas, so it just fit.[/quote:d37083fea8]
how about Eledillo? :-)
dazy
curiousgeorge 09-03-2003, 01:44 PM i also posted this in another section, but thought i'd re-post. i'm selfishly looking for some "GOOD LUCK" responses from you lucky E Owners!!!!
...i don't even HAVE an E yet - i'm hoping to get a Shoreline Mist Metallic as soon as i can save up. have to convince the hubby first, tho - he just bought a new car this year. it'll be a squeeze, but i NEED a car also 'cos mine's on its last leg. and i am DYING to get an E - it just seems like the best car out there!!!!! so, if i am successful, my E will be named HUMPHREY. wish me luck!!!!!!...
doofusdavid 09-03-2003, 02:45 PM Mine's named "Chunk," a la the Goonies.
dazy12 09-05-2003, 05:53 PM doofusdave: i love that name :-)

EforMe 09-05-2003, 08:11 PM H3 seem to fit fine for me.
HansBlix 09-08-2003, 02:31 PM We named our Element "The Box" in honor of its unique shape.
greenmountian boy 06-25-2004, 08:11 PM In the spirit of the utility of the design, my family afffectionately refers to our "E" as either "the rubber room and/or dumpster on wheels"
brendan 06-25-2004, 08:19 PM [quote:5b196899c9=" "]"the rubber room"[/quote:5b196899c9]
I *like* that!

StLouisPenguin 06-26-2004, 06:52 PM I *like* that!
lol....go figure! I like it too!!!
One of my favorite little sayings is "I live in a plastic world, but I dream in leather" *giggles*
billandjennifer 07-02-2004, 11:21 PM We named ours "Bull Winkle" 8) We think it looks like a "hustling" baby Moose.
Motie 07-04-2004, 11:37 PM My E is called Froggy. GGM of course. Also responds to Kermit.
subie1 08-08-2004, 06:56 PM Maybe "Jet" or "Ebony" since she is NBP. My wife likes "Ellie" but that may be too common.
blackdog1 08-08-2004, 09:26 PM My Element's name is JuneE. I was watching a dvd on Alaska, and when they mentioned Juneau Alaska I thought it would be a good name for my car. My friend suggeted "JuneE", and I liked it. Then I got to thinking that since I had bought my car in July it might have been built in June. I went out the next day to check and it had been built in June. So I guess it could also be short for June Element. :)
DOGBOX 08-08-2004, 11:33 PM My SOP E is known as the "crazy redhead"
newkdf 08-09-2004, 05:18 AM Our E has been dubbed "Angus" - seems to fit. We also have two New Beetles who's names are Grace and Hansi. BTW, we did our first road trip in our E and averaged about 23-24 MPG on the highway. Much better than the Blazer he replaced. Love this vehicle!!!
DanzE 08-10-2004, 02:10 PM "Mojo" aka the orange toaster
hal9001 08-11-2004, 11:06 AM Right now I'm calling her Ella Mint (even though she's not green)
Got personalized plates coming which say BOX CAR.
salutlemonde 08-15-2004, 04:55 PM I know it's not exactly original, but it is orange and rolls down the road exactly like bricks don't.
Theme song: "We're on the Road to Nowhere" / Talking Heads.
We have an alternate French name because it's not politically correct to think the French are OK even if they really are.
Now, if there were only some way to get the bigger inside than outside thing into the name, but alas - bricks are bigger on the outside.
Stacey 08-16-2004, 04:09 PM Not strange at all...We named our E Kiwi..It really suits her...
Stacey
The J 08-17-2004, 02:03 AM Since I have only had my E for about 2 months now I haven't entirely settled on a name. (I like to get know a vehicle better before I am so presumptuous to name them) However, I play network Halo (Xbox video game) (http://www.xbox.com/en-us/halo/default.htm) with a few close friends who all agreed when I pulled up in my Galapagos green E that it appeared to be some kind of futuristic military transport vehicle from the game Halo. So, for the time being "she" has been known as Halo to most, because warthog is a mouthful and Puma (Red vs. Blue (http://redvsblue.com)) is silly.
brendan 08-17-2004, 11:16 AM Heh. A friend sent the redvsblue Wild Wild Web video to me this morning. I had 0 Halo context, but it was still really really amusing.

hobbbz 08-19-2004, 04:53 PM His name is Rocky which is short for Rocky the Rock Box, I just wanted to name him the ROck Box but my friend wanted to name him Addrienne, which is her name and after informed her that my element was a boy, we decided on Rocky, to compliment Addrienne.
bella 08-26-2004, 12:31 PM Well after tossing around a few names we decided on "Bella" i thought of ellie 1st, but then decided its too obvious-no disrespect meant to the ellies out there. :P
FamilyE 09-03-2004, 12:26 AM Leona. My husband wanted a third child - preferably a daughter. After we decided to have only two kids and get the E, I told him he could name it and if he wanted another girl here was his opportunity.
So Leona it is!
amtoro 09-03-2004, 02:57 PM I've been thinking for several days now, and I decided to go back to the name of my first car, Marco Polo, the greatest explorer of all times...
devilvern 09-07-2004, 11:28 AM My wife and I have a deal where we each get to name each other's vehicles.
Past names have included "Squeaky" (Plymouth Sundance with a loose fan belt), "Crunchy" (A Saturn that got hit in sub-zero weather shattering a panel) and "Stumpy" (A GMC Pickup... Don't Ask)
It looked like the front-runner for my new E was "Stinky" for a while. One of our greyhounds "relaxes" every time he goes for a ride and well... We are glad that there are plenty of windows and a skylight to open.
My wife finally came up with "Kryten" yesterday. Kryten was an android on the BBC comedy/sci-fi show "Red Dwarf". We had our reasons, but mostly chose the name because the E is kinda shaped like his head (Not sure if that is unfortunate for him or my E)
http://www.sadgeezer.com/RedDwarf/mech1.jpg
napoleon_E 09-07-2004, 12:43 PM Blue Rascal or Cobalt

Just remember, Kryten's head does explode from time to time: that's one reason he keeps 3 backup heads. So...be careful out there :)

zenrandom 09-16-2004, 11:46 AM I've settled on schilpad for my brand new GG element...
its turtle in dutch :-)

DaveD 09-16-2004, 07:59 PM My co-workers call mine "Jeepers Creepers" because it looks a miniature version of that old huge square truck from the movie. I never thought about it till they said something but it does...
For some reason I've always called her "The Hoopdy" I'm not sure how to spell that but it is MY name for her so I guess that's right.
Dave
hownowcb 09-17-2004, 04:04 AM My favorite "eposide" is the Smeg-Ups (or was it the cooking show?), whereupon we learn of the many optional attachments for Kryten's Groinal Unit! Had to love the blender/mixer plug-in runing amok all over the set!

(My original avatar on this site!)
StLouisPenguin 09-17-2004, 08:12 AM Colin already knows this.....but my husband and his friend Andy are huge Red Dwarf fans.....my husband has a the whole box set (gift from his wonderful wife  ) But the funniest thing has to be that my husband kinda sorta looks like Rimmer......so Andy and I call him Rimmer and he hates.
Totally un-E related.....so I will repeat my E's name is Baby Blue!!!
DreamE 09-17-2004, 08:54 AM I have an SOP 2004 4WD LX. I am going to name mine ChuckE. As in Chucky from Childs Play since it looks like a toy truck and has orange hair. LOL.
nightcap965 09-29-2004, 08:50 PM I was going with "Testudo," but he didn't like it. Kon-Tiki was suggested, but I thought that would be more appropriate for a SOP E. I woke up in the middle of the night with Thor Heyerdahl in my mind. Thor was a great explorer, so that was point number one. Thor made an expedition to the Galapagos Islands, which was point number two for my GGM E. The clincher is that, in Norwegian, Thor is pronounced "Tor," sounds like "Tour," which is exaclty what I want to do in it. That there's also a connection to the mighty Norse god of thunder is just gravy.
So he's Thor, pronounced Tor.
elle driver 10-05-2004, 11:15 AM My daughter suggested it, "Elle Driver" from Kill Bill.
civicway 10-05-2004, 11:23 AM We have been from Sunkist to BOXO FUN to Winslow. Not sure where it will end SOP EXS AWD
DrFaulken 10-08-2004, 03:27 PM "Carbon" thus far for my new Nighthawk EX :)
DOGBOX 10-11-2004, 04:32 PM I was gonna change my E's name to Elmo, then remembered the Alamo, so it is now "Elamo"
popeye 10-11-2004, 09:53 PM popeye, of course, is my orange e's name: i yam what i yam, comes in handy, is a good companion at all times, steadfast and true and a character but with a great sense of humor -or at least makes others smile ;-)
also, a small 3 inch vinyl popeye figure is dangling from my rear mirror (which i'd bought at an antique shoppe in ct on the day i started considering the element as a possible buy)
Stewie 10-15-2004, 09:53 PM :D these are all so nice. I got my E early this year and because of it's spunkiness my girlfriend name it Stewie in admiration of the baby from The Family Guy"
HoustonTom 10-28-2004, 09:38 PM Everyone asks us why we call our Element "Jumbo" and of course we answer "Because he's Jumbo the Element!" We get a lot of groans.
Borg Queen 10-28-2004, 09:57 PM "The BORG-mobile". As in a "Borg Cube" from Star Trek.
Resistance is futile..Warp 10 anyone?
My Miata is "Damien" because I swear it's possessed. :D

Basil999 12-07-2004, 03:02 PM Okay people... why isn't anyone naming their little machine after one of the table of elements? I've got one for you. The long name is Molybdenum, but we always pronounced it wrong on purpose..."Molly-B-den-um".... So Molly maybe? Do you know that there is an element called Californium for those of you in California?
treewoman 12-11-2004, 09:31 PM A friend at work was looking at it the first day I drove it to work...he said it reminded him of an old Japanese horror film or something and called it "Godzilla." The name has kinda stuck....now I just need to find a little fiji blue godzilla figure for the dash....
lance 12-20-2004, 08:48 PM I had to look through all 19 pages of posts (apparently I have too much time on my hands) to see if anyone came up with this one - Mini E, as in Austin Powers - shagarrific!!!! :)

Budman 12-20-2004, 09:12 PM My brother said my NBP looked like a Top Hat. A client said it looked like an SS Staff Car, others say it looks like a chopped Hearse.
One funny thing I noticed is no one has ever compared it to any other automobile. I consider that a big plus.
L-M-N-T 12-22-2004, 11:38 AM I struggled to find a name for my E. I thought of Watson (from Sherlock Holmes), Jack (as in '-o-Lantern'), Punkin', Sunset, Penny (S.O.P. looks kinda coppery), S.O.P. Box (soap box), Pug; and the list goes on and on.
I decided on Bamm Bamm. I collect Barney Rubble stuff. My E is strong like Bamm Bamm yet, kinda cute in an ugly way. 'Seems to fit nicely for me and my E.
NoRegrets78 12-22-2004, 01:23 PM The Box.

I just hope MgE's nicer to me than the woman in the song. :-o

Galapagos Turtle 02-11-2005, 10:02 PM It was the colour name that grabbed me. I had to prove I learned something doing a biology degree. Galapagos Turtle (I realise the true animal is the tortoise, but turtle sounded better).
A good friend of mine purchased a 2003 5spd FWD Sunset Orange in colour and calls it Sunset Boulevard. The funny part is that when they're parked next to each other when MTB or camping; we've come to call them Stop & Go.

campywilly 03-22-2005, 07:56 AM marlene? wait, that's my rifle's name...
WeeDoggies 03-22-2005, 08:03 PM I've been trying to think of a name the past month but nothing seemed to fit. He's just been "the E"...
Then it flew out of my mouth the other night - Mister E-body. Bad, I know.
wankerklink 03-26-2005, 09:47 AM I named my SOP " WATSON" as in "It's Element-ary my dear Watson
rbschader 03-27-2005, 08:52 AM Look it up on the periodic table - a Black Element is called 'Carbon'.
wankerklink 03-28-2005, 06:52 AM After investigating it turn out a lot of Elements have been named WATSON
so since all my friends and relatives [ except my brother ] think it's UGLY
I'm changing its name to ESOR --short for EYE SORE.
I named mine the Green Hornet.
wmk7479 03-30-2005, 07:51 AM I couldn't get off of the first letter of the car for the longest time...
my 87 T-Bird was Tracey
my 98 Stang was Maria
but I didn't like anything with 'E' :(
Thankfully, reading everyone's posts helped me figure out my new E's name... Maggie! (I made the whole jump from car name to color name to get it... hahaha Magnesium)
 Don't mind me... I'm a little slow. ;-)
DJEMBE 03-31-2005, 01:14 PM I want to start a gang, like a motorcycle club. We could call ourselves The Hellements and start rumbles with people who drive Scion Xbs. Dibs on the presidency of the Los Angeles chapter...
Ric
Rooster 04-03-2005, 04:28 PM I don't have a name for it but my wife refers to it as "The Box"
JamesCzar 04-04-2005, 01:07 PM Ok... I think I have it. I was looking at my E parked the other day from across the parking lot, and with the brush guard on it, it looks pretty sweet... beefy... brauny...
So I came up with BeastE (pronounced like Beastie).
Shame I already got plates... maybe next year.
Jake_62 04-04-2005, 11:20 PM Since my SOP is kinda fiery orange, I decided to call it:
El Diablo Guapo (The Handsome Devil)
jdiane 04-05-2005, 07:40 PM I have the SSM, and she looks like a cement block, or cinder block= Cind-E (pronounced Cindy- like the youngest Brady, but much much cuter!).... so how do I sign up for the Element support group???
ol fugly 04-08-2005, 09:07 PM Actually my log on name is the name of my e cause it ain't just ugly, it's fugly!
Fugly is short for... well the overseers probably won't let me put it in print so your just going to have to figure it out on your own.
cfbales 04-09-2005, 01:06 AM I drive an SOP Ex, which looks like the box it came in. I love that and also have a 1974 VW-Porsche 914 that also looks like the box it came in. Lastly, I love old school Schwinn Stingrays and my favorite model is the Orange Krate Stingray. I also think Orange Krate fits the E very nicely so that's the E's new name; Orange Krate.
napoleon_E 04-09-2005, 05:33 PM Blue Rascal
Dad's car. Or Irv's car. Or my car.
RLelement 04-09-2005, 06:08 PM Her name is Alanis!
wankerklink 04-09-2005, 09:16 PM Her name is Alanis!
And the reasoning behind that name is-----?
frogsnout 04-12-2005, 12:01 PM I am currently calling mine the 'KrazEE Eyez Killa', after my favorite episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
"Are you my caucasian?"
ElementGrrl 04-12-2005, 10:39 PM I have always given my car a girl's name, like the ship naming tradition.
I have named my SSM Element, Miss Ellie. I was a Dallas fan when I was young and my E reminds me a bit of the family matriarch on the show. A real belle of a gal, but tough enough not to put up with any crap from anybody!
ICHING 05-21-2005, 01:47 AM The wife has named it "Lilly", so that settles that
Imamonkey 07-09-2005, 11:58 PM Eddie.
A friend's daughter (age 9) said my SOP E reminded her of Holloween (orange paint, blackish panels). Eddie Munster is sort of holloweenish. An old friend's cat was a black cat with orange eyes, his name was eddie. I loved the name, best name for a cat I've ever heard. So, Eddie it is.
The5thELEMENT 07-10-2005, 01:26 AM Anyone seen the movie "The Fifth Element"? Well, if you have the name of the 5th element is "Lee-Loo". (As seen in picture to the left) I am just not feeling that for my black E. Plus my friend just bought a new black xterra and named it the "TIE fighter". So the hunt continues.....
wilbz 07-10-2005, 08:26 AM I'm a chemical engineer, so I needed to name it after some sort of Element. I chose Flourine, because it's the most reactive of all elements. My GF was taught an anecdote in high school about Flourine to help remember that it was the most reactive relating to it's 'promiscuity' and that it was so promiscuous it would even sleep with it's 'noble (Nobel) brothers'.
Therefore: "Flourine the Slut"
spartanvet71 07-10-2005, 10:51 AM I just got my E 2 days ago and my daughter named it "Mr. E"
3rdHonda 07-10-2005, 03:03 PM Red Square
chancho 07-10-2005, 03:16 PM mine is baby hummer
trickyvick 07-10-2005, 10:22 PM well, we just got back from a road trip earlier in the week and my step-mother named it the "deep freeze"!
She said she has never been so cold on the 4th of july!
jurneez 07-11-2005, 03:49 PM I have always given my car a girl's name, like the ship naming tradition.
I have named my SSM Element, Miss Ellie. I was a Dallas fan when I was young and my E reminds me a bit of the family matriarch on the show. A real belle of a gal, but tough enough not to put up with any crap from anybody!
Hey ElementGrrl,
I named mine that too!. Except for short I call her Ellie.
Last vehicle was a jeep but Miss Ellie is just right for my dog and myself.
Of course the dog is 135 pounds....
Lots of room.
