OK, this is going to sound a bit strange, but we have always named our cars. We have a huge Olds 88 Lux that was blue. We named that the Blue Whale.

Anyway, we worked on a name for our Element, and after several back and forths, we came up with the name SUMO.

Do any other people out there name thier cars/trucks? If you do, what did you name it?

Was planning to buy the Silver EX and my little guy would refer to the car as "Silver". We ended up doing a switch to Shorline Mist but, he still called the car Silver. Sooooooo, yes we named ours SILVER.

I have had three trucks which I called Bertha. When I get my "E", I will refer to her as "Elsie".

My driveway is 1/4 mile long and we got 7" snow last night, I didn't plow but Hummer chugged right out to the road like there was no snow, and easily plowed through the snowplow mound at the end of my drive.

How nice, this 4x4 stuff *is* what it's cracked up to be!

I don't have my Element yet but I do name my vehicles. I presently have a 13 year old Jeep Wrangler. When I first got her ( yes it's a she ), I got caught in the rain with the top down. So henceforth her name has been Raindrop. :)

As mentioned in another post, I have now christened my Green EX Element "THE TURTLE."

This is a most appropriate name for several reasons: 1) "Galapagos Green" reminds me of the Galapagos Islands explored by Charles Darwin (Yes, I used to teach Biology), and well known inhabitants of those islands are the Galapagos Turtles. 2) Turtles carry their "houses" (shells) with them as they travel. Shucks, "dorm rooms" are like little houses, aren't they? 3) The Element has a cute "boxey" appearance, just like box turtles. 4) etc., etc., etc.

My first Honda was Happy the Honda. My family put their foot down on that one for my Element. No go. After three days of pondering we came up with "Gibby" for Girl in Black (yes, my Element is black).

My secretary said the front of my E looks like a bat, so I now refer to it as the Batmobile! 8)

I named my Element Harpoon/SLAM after the AGM-85E missle that may be used in an attack against an enemy. It is powereed by teledyne turbo jet and carries a penetrating high explosive 488 lb warhead capable of wreaking mass destruction on an adversary. Just like my little Element! :twisted:

When we drive it though we call it "Rollin' on E" For those of you that don't know, this is a slang term that kids use when talking about being high (or consuming or whatever) on the drug Ecstasy. I'm an ER nurse, my sense of humor is both depraved and sick and I know too much about drugs....

Finally became the Dad of my new E on Thursday and immediately new that my original name (Little Black Box) was wrong for this baby. It is definitely gonna be known as "STUBBY". Love it for the first 350 miles so far.

My last car was a misubishi Montero and my brother bought one too. We had a burgundy mitsi and a blue mitsu.

I'm glad to know that my wife and I are not the only ones who name their vehicles. :D We named our new Shoreline Mist EX, "Ellie Mae," before we even figured out which model to buy. It just seemed fitting somehow. :wink:

Our 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo is named "Carlos". I know...pretty lame.

I just called the dealer. My E hasn't been born yet, but is due in the next 10 days or so. I plan to name my E 'Emmitt'

My name for my SM EX 5sp is Mist-E, but that may change once I take delivery and live with it for awhile.

I once pre-named a cat 'goober', but once she was home for a few days, it was clear her name was Ansel... :D

The Armadillo or Dillo for short. Ours is Shoreline Mist which is close to the color of an armadillo, plus they're (element & armadillo) kinda boxy and awkward looking. Also, we're in Texas, so it just fit.

When my pers. plates arrive, they will bear the nicknamesake of myself and my pooch -WNDRMUT- Sound familiar? glance left. Speaking of wandermut, my dog Cassius tested the easy clean interior the first day I had the car . I guess he wwas a little uneasy being in the new rig, but it was no biggie. had to christen it some time. since then it's been smooth sailin' . Cash loves that he can have a nice big flat bed in the back with his favorite blanket. A wandermut with a wondermut in their WNDRMUT.

I took my four year old daughter with me to pick up my new E the other day. Somehow, we've gotten into the odd habit of naming our Hondas (I was a Service Manager at a repair shop, so of course I only buy Hondas :wink: )... White Lightning, The Brown Turd...etc. My daughter took one look at the newest member of our fleet and proclaimed..."Fluffy!". So that's what I'm stuck with. Fluffy. Needless to say, I was hoping for something a little cooler. but by the time we drove the E around and showed it of to everyone back home, the name had stuck. Fluffy. At least she loves the Element as much as I do... besides, "a rose by any other name..." and all that.

the weekend we bought our e, we went to a local club to hear some bands. while we were waiting to get in and after drawing everyones attention to the element, we looked back at it ourselves. then we noticed we had parked beside a dumpster and in the night w/dim light it also looked like a dumpster. :lol: so for now it has been dubbed "the dumpster".

I have to admit i had to reach back in a popculture referance for the name i chose.

It just seemd to fit....And the one thing i've noticed, Elements are just to happy of cars...look at most of the names, you don't have Evil sounding names....then again who knows someone might call thier Satan's Statonwagon just to prove me wrong.

There's a rock band called Noir Desir (black desire) - that could be a neat name. Except if you have negative feelings about the french - they're a french alternative-punk band. Anyway Noir sounds kinda cool.

Canadian's are usually okay with the french. Its our own french we don't do too well with. The name is pretty good, it sound a little kinky. Almost a S&M feel not sure what image I would project.

The first time I saw the new Mercedes G600 Wagon, I wanted one. There's a problem though. There over $70,000.00. Nevertheless, instead of the G Wagon, I have a E Wagon. Another thing. People constantly say to me, " that looks like a little hummer. Why didn't you just get a hummer." I tell them, I have 30 thousand reasons why I didn't get a hummer. They look at me so strange. Then I have to explain that every reason equals one dollar. 30 thousand dollars difference in price.

I have always named my cars.. my parents did too. It was gonna be Ellie Element...but now that I've test drove 3 of them and sat in countless units I have found them to be masculine. Hank the Honda..Henry, Ernie the element (we know an ernie can do it!) I have two Greyhounds so he could be "the hound hauler" there's a BUS joke in there but I won't go there! I guess its gonna be "Little Eiho" which has a great story behind it. Yeah, my "Little Eiho" at your service! LOL

I have wanted a Hummer for more than 10 years, that darn $100,000.00 price kept getting in the way. Then they tease me with the H2; rumor has it that it will be $70,000.00 which wasn't any better than an H1, still too far from my vehicle budget. When they finally introduce the H2 at $48,000.00 (plus $8000 in options I want) it was closer,but still did not make sense for a couple of reasons - well, about 30,000 reasons. Hence, to bring this diatribe to an end - I have named my Element HondaHummer. 8)

For now I am calling mine SLIM (Shore Line Mist) but I am not comfortable with it. Still looking. A buddy of mine just got back from it's first road trip to Taos. I hurt my back really bad fly fishing and the ride back was actually not bad. I took the back/front passenger seats down, threw a big thermarest and a sleeping bag down and slept for 3 hours. Could never done that in my Rodeo. Maybe since I was stretched out I should call it LANCE (short for AmbuLANCE) 8)

LANCE, that the most creative yet, love it hope it sticks.

The two most important things I need from my transportation, (beside get from a to b), is carrying gear and sleeping in it. I build a tent for my dakota that worked pretty good, but had to take it down to go riding. I love the element because I can roll out of bed and drive to the trail head.

I am leaning toward naming my nbp Nomad.

I'm leaning toward something like, The "Droidmobile" or "The Droidbox". Still haven't decided for sure yet.

We picked up my SOP beauty on Friday!! LOVE IT!! My dad called and asked if THE GREAT PUMPKIN had arrived... the rest is history. The name has just stuck. My two boys have already broken it in pretty well. Haven't given the dogs a chance yet.

I'm getting a green Element. I'm too old to go cute with names. Combining green (earth) with the word Element, I come up with GOLEM.

The Golem was a Jewish sage figure, made out of clay and revived by calling the Gods. It would obey your every command, but if you made it work on the Sabbath, it would go about destroying stuff. My GOLEM will not mind working on Sunday. But ridicule is another matter....

So... go ahead and laugh at my GOLEM. Make my day.... :lol:

Somewhere I read that there is button on the stereo system that you punch when you are driving through a fast food drive through that automatically lowers the stereo volume. Can't find it in the instruction booklet. Does anyone else know about this button and where it is. I can't find it anywhere. And, yes, I eat junk food!! :?

My SOP is sort of a paprika pumpkin color, so calling it the SpiceBox just seemed to fit. Like a spicebox, the treat is on the inside. Best darn Toybox I've ever seen!

My Pharmacist Fiance (and co-owner of L'element) haven't settled on a name yet.

However, throughout pharmacy school, my fiance (Dr. Zimmerman) always said that if he got to name an element on the periodic chart, he would call it Zimmonium - so we do joke that our car runs on Zimmonium.

I started naming vehicles when I had my first car. A good car will tell you its name and gender.

My best car name was a Rodeo named Sophie. She was Sophie Trucker, a bawdy old dame. That was a pretty good vehicle for me. Since then I've had another Sophie (I transfered the katra of Sophie from vehicle to vehicle - if you didn't see Star Trek III, don't ask), a red Trooper named Ruby(wrecked on ice), and Ruby's successor, Silver Surfer. Of all my cars, Silver Surfer is definitely the most male.

I am thinking if I get Galapagos Green, I'm going to ask the heavens to bring me the Spirit of Sophie again and she'll be Sophie E. Trucker.

My husband had a Camry named Cammie and when he got the champagne colored Lexus as a successor she was Chammy. His cars were definitely female, because they were bitchy, jealous and really didn't like me.

Somehow "GalaGreenBullPup" insinuated itself into 'our' lives (more stage-name or nom de plume don't you think?); and "beepbeep" kinda floats around as the quick-draw call when I want 'her' to fetch or come to me or

Well, I don't have a name yet (and it's day 5), but I have ordered the license plate "BOXECAR". Almost everything is taken here in CA (e.g. TOYBOX,BOXCAR,ELMENTL & variants etc.) so it took a while to come up with something.

Just brought my 'baby' home last night (SOP, EX, 4WD, 5spd) and he/she doesn't have a name yet....have to wait & see what sticks. Although the more I think about it being orange with the sweetest little black pinstripe...Tigger has been running through my head....with vanity plates TIDBLGR - how Tigger spells his name T-i-double G- er

...my Green Explorer Sport is the Reptar Wagon (I am Reptar hear me ROAR!!! - from Rugrats).

Not only do I name my cars, but I name them for my friends & family as well. My sister's 92 red Mazda 323 was Apple Car her whole life (was just carted off to car heaven last week)..it looked just like a red delicious apple!

We used to own an 81 Honda Civic that I named "Bonzai" because at 65 mph the car's manual transmission just screamed. Best car we ever owned. We currently own a blue 89 Accord that we call "bluebird" (the speedometer cable chirps). We have tried to come up with a name for our new Element, but don't have one yet. I guess we will have to wait for this one to name itself too.

"Nemo". It's easy to find my Nemo in the parking lot, it's a SOP!

Mine has been named "Elmo". Although until I take delivery of it I suppose I should refer to it as "Absent" :cry:

I have given my "Elsie" a last name - "Surefoot". We have had buckets of rain this afternoon which my "Elsie" handled very well. My old Chevy S-10 would have required me to drop in to second and ease, gently ease off the clutch for risk of spinning the rear wheels. "Elsie" is a much better behaved girl, hence her new last name of "Surefoot".

She finally has a name....Spicey :)

And, if it wasn't for the references to Cocaine, in the song by the Dead, she'd have her own theme song. The wife wouldn't understand. But if I don't tell her......

my wife and i just got our gg ex 2wd last night. haven't had a enough time with it to learn name or gender. we traded my old bmw as part of the transaction for the element. the bmw was a 1987 325is with 256,000 miles on it. her name was molly.

...i don't even HAVE an E yet - i'm hoping to get a Shoreline Mist Metallic as soon as i can save up. have to convince the hubby first, tho - he just bought a new car this year. it'll be a squeeze, but i NEED a car also 'cos mine's on its last leg. and i am DYING to get an E - it just seems like the best car out there!!!!! so, if i am successful, my E will be named HUMPHREY. wish me luck!!!!!!...

My E is called Froggy. GGM of course. Also responds to Kermit.

Maybe "Jet" or "Ebony" since she is NBP. My wife likes "Ellie" but that may be too common.

My Element's name is JuneE. I was watching a dvd on Alaska, and when they mentioned Juneau Alaska I thought it would be a good name for my car. My friend suggeted "JuneE", and I liked it. Then I got to thinking that since I had bought my car in July it might have been built in June. I went out the next day to check and it had been built in June. So I guess it could also be short for June Element. :)

My SOP E is known as the "crazy redhead"

Our E has been dubbed "Angus" - seems to fit. We also have two New Beetles who's names are Grace and Hansi. BTW, we did our first road trip in our E and averaged about 23-24 MPG on the highway. Much better than the Blazer he replaced. Love this vehicle!!!

I know it's not exactly original, but it is orange and rolls down the road exactly like bricks don't.

We have an alternate French name because it's not politically correct to think the French are OK even if they really are.

Now, if there were only some way to get the bigger inside than outside thing into the name, but alas - bricks are bigger on the outside.

Since I have only had my E for about 2 months now I haven't entirely settled on a name. (I like to get know a vehicle better before I am so presumptuous to name them) However, I play network Halo (Xbox video game) (http://www.xbox.com/en-us/halo/default.htm) with a few close friends who all agreed when I pulled up in my Galapagos green E that it appeared to be some kind of futuristic military transport vehicle from the game Halo. So, for the time being "she" has been known as Halo to most, because warthog is a mouthful and Puma (Red vs. Blue (http://redvsblue.com)) is silly.

Heh. A friend sent the redvsblue Wild Wild Web video to me this morning. I had 0 Halo context, but it was still really really amusing.

His name is Rocky which is short for Rocky the Rock Box, I just wanted to name him the ROck Box but my friend wanted to name him Addrienne, which is her name and after informed her that my element was a boy, we decided on Rocky, to compliment Addrienne.

Well after tossing around a few names we decided on "Bella" i thought of ellie 1st, but then decided its too obvious-no disrespect meant to the ellies out there. :P

Leona. My husband wanted a third child - preferably a daughter. After we decided to have only two kids and get the E, I told him he could name it and if he wanted another girl here was his opportunity.

So Leona it is! :lol:

I've been thinking for several days now, and I decided to go back to the name of my first car, Marco Polo, the greatest explorer of all times... :wink:

My wife and I have a deal where we each get to name each other's vehicles.

Past names have included "Squeaky" (Plymouth Sundance with a loose fan belt), "Crunchy" (A Saturn that got hit in sub-zero weather shattering a panel) and "Stumpy" (A GMC Pickup... Don't Ask)

It looked like the front-runner for my new E was "Stinky" for a while. One of our greyhounds "relaxes" every time he goes for a ride and well... We are glad that there are plenty of windows and a skylight to open.

My wife finally came up with "Kryten" yesterday. Kryten was an android on the BBC comedy/sci-fi show "Red Dwarf". We had our reasons, but mostly chose the name because the E is kinda shaped like his head (Not sure if that is unfortunate for him or my E)

Colin already knows this.....but my husband and his friend Andy are huge Red Dwarf fans.....my husband has a the whole box set (gift from his wonderful wife :wink: ) But the funniest thing has to be that my husband kinda sorta looks like Rimmer......so Andy and I call him Rimmer and he hates.

I have an SOP 2004 4WD LX. I am going to name mine ChuckE. As in Chucky from Childs Play since it looks like a toy truck and has orange hair. LOL. :lol:

I was going with "Testudo," but he didn't like it. Kon-Tiki was suggested, but I thought that would be more appropriate for a SOP E. I woke up in the middle of the night with Thor Heyerdahl in my mind. Thor was a great explorer, so that was point number one. Thor made an expedition to the Galapagos Islands, which was point number two for my GGM E. The clincher is that, in Norwegian, Thor is pronounced "Tor," sounds like "Tour," which is exaclty what I want to do in it. That there's also a connection to the mighty Norse god of thunder is just gravy.

So he's Thor, pronounced Tor.

My daughter suggested it, "Elle Driver" from Kill Bill.

We have been from Sunkist to BOXO FUN to Winslow. Not sure where it will end SOP EXS AWD

Okay people... why isn't anyone naming their little machine after one of the table of elements? I've got one for you. The long name is Molybdenum, but we always pronounced it wrong on purpose..."Molly-B-den-um".... So Molly maybe? Do you know that there is an element called Californium for those of you in California?

A friend at work was looking at it the first day I drove it to work...he said it reminded him of an old Japanese horror film or something and called it "Godzilla." The name has kinda stuck....now I just need to find a little fiji blue godzilla figure for the dash....

My brother said my NBP looked like a Top Hat. A client said it looked like an SS Staff Car, others say it looks like a chopped Hearse.

One funny thing I noticed is no one has ever compared it to any other automobile. I consider that a big plus.

I struggled to find a name for my E. I thought of Watson (from Sherlock Holmes), Jack (as in '-o-Lantern'), Punkin', Sunset, Penny (S.O.P. looks kinda coppery), S.O.P. Box (soap box), Pug; and the list goes on and on.

I decided on Bamm Bamm. I collect Barney Rubble stuff. My E is strong like Bamm Bamm yet, kinda cute in an ugly way. 'Seems to fit nicely for me and my E.

It was the colour name that grabbed me. I had to prove I learned something doing a biology degree. Galapagos Turtle (I realise the true animal is the tortoise, but turtle sounded better).

A good friend of mine purchased a 2003 5spd FWD Sunset Orange in colour and calls it Sunset Boulevard. The funny part is that when they're parked next to each other when MTB or camping; we've come to call them Stop & Go. :grin:

After investigating it turn out a lot of Elements have been named WATSON

I'm changing its name to ESOR --short for EYE SORE.

Fugly is short for... well the overseers probably won't let me put it in print so your just going to have to figure it out on your own.

I drive an SOP Ex, which looks like the box it came in. I love that and also have a 1974 VW-Porsche 914 that also looks like the box it came in. Lastly, I love old school Schwinn Stingrays and my favorite model is the Orange Krate Stingray. I also think Orange Krate fits the E very nicely so that's the E's new name; Orange Krate.

A friend's daughter (age 9) said my SOP E reminded her of Holloween (orange paint, blackish panels). Eddie Munster is sort of holloweenish. An old friend's cat was a black cat with orange eyes, his name was eddie. I loved the name, best name for a cat I've ever heard. So, Eddie it is.

Anyone seen the movie "The Fifth Element"? Well, if you have the name of the 5th element is "Lee-Loo". (As seen in picture to the left) I am just not feeling that for my black E. Plus my friend just bought a new black xterra and named it the "TIE fighter". So the hunt continues..... :roll:

I'm a chemical engineer, so I needed to name it after some sort of Element. I chose Flourine, because it's the most reactive of all elements. My GF was taught an anecdote in high school about Flourine to help remember that it was the most reactive relating to it's 'promiscuity' and that it was so promiscuous it would even sleep with it's 'noble (Nobel) brothers'.

Therefore: "Flourine the Slut"

Last vehicle was a jeep but Miss Ellie is just right for my dog and myself.
Of course the dog is 135 pounds....
