Finally ordered (and received) my panavise mount. Ordered The proclip ipod holder from proclip website and it's backordered. Any suggestions for another place to order it or even for a different holder?

Thanks,

Dave

I emailed him but got no reply after 3-4 days and didn't want to wait it out so ordered online.

I saw your pic on your post and have another question for you. Do you like it on the right? I'm thinking of putting it on the left for easy use while driving alone which is about 90% of the time but considering the right side because of trips when my girlfriend would be in control of the iPod.

I also considered the left hand mount but decided against it for several reasons. Like you, I wanted to have it accessible to the passenger ( I have the swivel mount to make access easier as well) and I didn't want the data/charger cable hanging accross the HVAC controls.

I also purchased the quick disconnect mount that allows you to slide the holder off the dashboard mount as I use the iPod in my other vehicle as well. With the holder off, I find the right hand mount interferes less with the radio controls.

I got the ProClip iPod holder and never used it. While it's machined to fit the iPod precisely, that means you can't use ANY case with it, even a thing silicone one like I use. Seems the be the things with most iPod holders or cradle replacements, they don't think people use cases. The ProClip holder has absolutely no give in it to allow for anything other than the "sticker" type covering for the iPod

I do use the ProClip "clip", but got a PDA holder from Bracketron.

The FreeWay PDA holder adjusts to fit the iPod snugly, has a hold in the bottom to accomodate the dock connector. It also fits my iPaq.

So my recommendation is to get the iClip bracket and the Bracketron holder.

A 'second' for the Freeway PDA holder. I use it with my Zen Touch (http://www.red-tail.net/e/bracket/) player, it's a great low-profile solution.

Is the plate on the back of the Freeway a removeable AMPS bracket? I like the idea of the Freeway so that I can keep the iPod in a silicon case but prefer to use the the Proclip mounting system and quick connect brackets.

[edit] if I can use the Freeway - I'll sell you my Proclip holder DaveD!

The Freeway came with a clip, the fixed end intended to screw into a standard AMPS bracket. Since both were made of ABS I just superglued the bracket to the Proclip, the Freeway then just slots into it.

The Freeway PDA holder I ordered just arrived. It seems to be easily adaptable to the Proclip mount as you said LMNT47

Rather than supergluing the mount together, however, I think I will just leave it clipped together for now. With the velcro straps of the Freeway in place there doesn't seem to be much risk of it coming apart.

I will try and post some pictures of the Freeway attached to the Proclip quick disconnect mount if anyone is interested in a solution that allows you to move your MP3 player between vehicles.

As you can see, the Freeway holder mounts a little bit lower than the Proclip holder. This is an improvement I think - the iPod is not in the way of the vent
