Hmmm ....

Plays cassettes: Strike One
Has front AUX jack: Strike Two
Has button, not knob, for volume: Strike Three

And from the CarDoman web site you linked, "This item is on factory backorder": Strike Four

But it looks to be double-DIN; don't know what would prevent it from fitting in the E. If they say "no" they must either have a reason or they are misinformed. Contact them?

I like JVC products and have had a number of them over the years, and the one you show is actually quite cool...go for it...do a load of extra research on it as well. The changer control is cool even if you don't use a changer...it can be used as an auxillary input with a JVC adapter JVC KS-U57 ( even though the HU has an AUX in the face already )

Its double DIN, it will fit, even though the Element's dash opening is slightly larger than a true double DIN.

I have a JVC HU on order...it is scheduled to arrive at my home on January 11th.

I was just going to comment that it didn't play MP3s...but you'll be putting an IPOD into it anyway right? The silver face will go nicely with the dash trim as well. Don't let me tell you how to spend your money, only you can make the final decision. Just research it...some sites actually show items that are very similar to compare it to, and may have more ( or less features ) that you are looking for.

It may actually attach to the dash openning with what ever original brackets are in there...I'm not 100% sure since I haven't disassembled my dash just yet.

Since we're on the subject of JVC HU's...I'll let the cat out of the bag...here's the HU I ordered last week that I'm waiting to receive:

http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/410399950

Now I have to look for a suitable drop down monitor for it...I'm thinking I'll just go with the JVC 9" widescreen unit they offer ( KV MR9000 )

I know it is only single DIN, but I have a few ideas for the pocket under the HU.

Kenwood makes a similar all-in-one unit. It's a bit more expensive but I think it includes a few more options.

Crutchfield says it doesn't fit the Element but they say the same thing about the DDX7015 model I have in mine, also a double din unit. Genom is right that the Element's din is just ever so slightly larger than true double din but it should still fit fine.
