We currently wave (in St. Louis at the moment) because we are still a relative rarity - we may see another on the road maybe once or twice a week.

But once we're back in the Bay Area we'll probably stop waving. E's are a dime-a-dozen there; there's rarely a trip 'out' where we don't see two or three. It's so hard to grasp the concept that we're about to fade into the crowd.

My commute is 50 miles each way daily. I usually see one every 2 days or so. I always wave. sometimes I get a wave, sometimes I get nothing, one time I got reconized from the club!

I went to wal-mart yesterday at 9 am...park far away from the door, and came out to find a Blue one and a Orange one park right next to my orange one...it was like a little school of Elements in the giant parking lot sea....

I sort-of wave to other Element owners. Living in the DC metro area, people don't really know what it's like to be friendly any more. It was a lot easier when I owned a MINI, a majority of the car owners were really friendly.

I am usually so shocked to see another E in this area that they are gone by the time I think to wave!

I rarely see another one......I do wave...sometimes toot the horn

I saw two yesterday, and may not see another for a week. There are two others in my home town...one black and one silver.....I saw an orange one a few times but they had Florida tags so I figure they were visiting over the holidays.

I always wave and get waves back about half the time. People here are lost in their own little worlds. But when I am parking and see another "E" I will do everything I can to park next to it.

oh yea. definitely. I was in LA couple days ago and in the parking lot there were 3 Es parked there right next to each other. There was one empty space next to the NBP. So I knew it was meant for me to park there and so i did.
By the way including my Echo 3, it was SSM, NBP, GGM, SOP.

It's more of a wave and a big grin- driving to a restaurant with my sister down in Cincinnati a couple weeks ago, another E was pulling out of a parking space as I was pulling into the lot. We both stopped, stared at each other, threw up our hands and started laughing! My sister's comment, "God, you guys are just like sports car and Harley owners!" :-D (yeah, I always waved and got waved at in my old Miata too).

I'm brand new to EOC. Just got my new Element on Saturday (1-8-05). I'm thrilled to have it. There are VERY Few Element owners so far here in Kearney, NE but I will say that in a relatively small town, everybody else that does have one makes it a point to wave, I do too of course.

We totally wave - or at very least flash a grin I guess. I get so used to doing that I often start to wave at other E owners from my other truck, but stop myself 'cause I figure they wouldn't know what the heck Iz wavin about!

We are always looking for E drivers...we try and wave, but not to many wave back. Our passengers also think we're crazy! Once we saw an E in the same color, so we honked and flashed our brights...they honked back!!

In parking lots, we'll try and park next to other E's, otherwise we park in the back of the lot to protect our E.

Today while stopped at a red light another "E" of the same color came around the corner and stopped next to us right in the middle of the road to admire our "E" and of course we admired back... I rolled down the window and told him that I loved his Element and he said that he loved mine too. LOL

I drive through the city of Boston,
The home of the bean and the cod,
Where the Lowells talk to the Cabots,
And the Cabots talk only to God.

Now driving in Boston is tricky,
Surrounded by morons and idjits,
So it's nice when an Element owner,
Waves with all his digits!

Tonight was the coolest wave yet...I live in Monroe, Michigan, which is a small, old, historical town about halfway between Detroit and Toledo. Great place to live, but not exactly hip...You get the picture. We have a Honda dealer, but you don't see any E's in town (cept mine!) Tonight I pulled up at a stoplight in town and an E pulled up next to me! Two young girls, and the passenger was the first to wave! (this was not flirting, I am a 51 year old female!) We sat at the light, even as it turned green, waving and laughing. what's up with this? Back in 1983 when I first had my 83 accord, I used to joke to a co-worker (who had bought a Prelude on my recommendation that Honda's were great) that they must have put a drug in Hondas to make us all love them so much.....20+ years later, I'm convinced! Monroe must be gettin' hip????

I've waved at most E owners, though they rarely wave back around here. And they're not too common in Salt Lake. Though they're much more common in SLC than in Utah County (meh, never liked happy valley anyway).
I have had a couple people wave at me, and I of course wave back.
Yesterday, I passed a silver E just like mine and tooted my horn- I passed too fast though so I couldn't see what their reaction was.
Some Element owners especially around where I used to live looked downright pissed off when I saw them. And that's like ALL the time- it was weird.

We're a tourist island, so I see lots in the summer (some hauling , some being
hauled). they look pretty cute being towed by a million dollar motorcoach.
you think to yourself, hey that guy's got lotsa bucks and class and look at his
choice of vehicles.
yep, I wave,

Here in Portland OR, E's are getting pretty common. I parked at Costco a couple of weeks ago and in my row of cars there were THREE E's (incl mine). All SOP's. It was sooo cool. They looked so happy.

DC Metro area here.. E's, especially the Oranges ones, are pretty common here. I make an effort to always wave.

Now whether or not I get a response, it's generally 30/70% ~ 30 who do wave and are just as excited as I am.. and 70 who look at me like I've lost my mind or don't bother to acknowledge me at all.

I am always happy to see another E. yesterday, i was driving into a parking lot and i saw a SOP and we stopped in the middle, smiled, laughed, and waved at each other and continued on. hahaha. my passengers get a crack out of this every time.

I've got a friend in town who's got the same color E as mine, and we always stop to talk. I've tried waving to others while in Seattle, but haven't gotten a wave back - either they are being snooty or they're in an espresso-induced haze! :)

Here in my neck of the woods, the great rare and elusive "E" has made a starteling comeback. The older generation has started producing offspring at an amazing pace and with new and wild colors! We have seen Red/Black ones and also Silver/Blue ones too. Before the "E" population was about 1 "E" to ever 4-5 square miles but now its 1 "E" to ever half mile! I have three within 5 blocks of our house now.

But the funny thing is that most of the new "E"s are not friendly. They do not wave back when waved too, they do not smile and nod when contact has been made. Very rarely does our "E" get to have a conversation with other "E"s and when it does, its an older "E".

I guess every generation has this problem though... The older generation thinks that the younger generation is rude and has no manners.

You can call me... Marlin Perkins :-D

Oh yeah - I'd definitely blame those darned Frappacinno's!! On the up side - we not only got a wave back this weekend from a nice green E this weekend on the way over the Narrows Bridge, he even gave a little toot! Yay!

I give "the look," you know, that knowing nod... and sometimes I get a look back, and maybe a smile/nod.

Used to do it with my Jetta (back when they were all boxy and people bought them because of their performance, not their looks).

In Cincinnati, they're common enough that it seems not to be that big of a deal for the other drivers, so they don't often notice you. In Youngstown NO ONE waves to strangers, EVER. So when I give "the look," I'll often see them looking around or just looking confused.

My wife thinks it's lame that I pay attention and acknowledge the other Es out there (and she really thought the National Meetup was a dumb idea), but then again she used to date a scooter enthusiast (read: freak) who used to spend all his time and money doing scooter-related things... every weekend another rally... and he'd drive 100s of miles on his sub-55MPH scooter to get to them. She's just worried I'll end up like that.

Thank god we're not THAT obsessed... are we? :-o

At least we can go over 55.

I used to all the time, but gave up because I got a sneer from some old woman once in the other E...... Too bad that put me off...

I almost waved to someone last week, just cuz I felt like getting friendly again, and they just stared.... hmm... :?

Don't give up, Zorblaz! It's such a friendly looking vehicle, that I think people will come around and start waving back to you if you keep at it! :) Who knows - you might start a whole new thing back there and Everyone will start waving to Everyone! ;-)
Here's one to get you started (or as close as I can get here) (see post icon). And that's all the way from Seattle! :)

Do you know the "Element Owners wave"? Probably not ( because I think I invented it  ). When I pass an oncoming Element I make an "E" sign with my hand (hand pointing sideways, first 3 fingers extended, hold the pinky with the thumb). I've gotten a few waves back, and also some strange looks (I guess it might look like a rude gesture to some :? )

You know how Harley riders will sometimes give a low wave to each other as they pass. Try this next time...it might catch on!

i used to wave to other E drivers, but after encountering less-than-enthusiastic responses, i kinda stopped doing it. now, occassionally i will lift up two fingers off of the wheel and do a "v" at Es. if you see me in my orange E with an alien sticker on the back window, say hello fur sure :)

I try to wave if I can. There are a few Es running around Montana. Get waves back about half the time. It seems like I am always the wave initiator, though. It is fun to find the other Es in the parking lot and park next to them.

Maybe we ought to have Day-Glo orange EOC stickers to put on the windshield, right behind (in front of?) the rearview mirror.

That way you could spot other Cogniscienti you meet on the road in time for a big "Hey there! How ya doin', Pal?" kind of wave.

Nav-E-Gator
03-31-2005, 01:31 PM
Day Glo Orange huh? Well, that would be a good way to spot from far off! ;) I say everyone who's friendly enough just keep waving - the others will catch on sooner or later!
