When I turn on the ignition key, there a "pop" sound comes from the radio speakers. This only happens the first time I start the car; if I shut it down and restart right away, no pop. However, if it sits for awhile, the pop comes back.
Any theories regarding what's going on?
thanks!

Do you have the stock stereo, if so LX or EX?
or
Is it an aftermarket system?
I haven't heard of this with the stock setup, but it can happen with an aftermarket system if you've got a bad ground or a really cheap amp.
If it is stock, a trip to the service department is in order.

OK, OK, you caught me. I have a beautiful green LX that is 100% fantastic, including the factory stereo. My question is for my wife's Nissan Murano (I couldn't find a Murano website like this, so I tried to fly in under the radar).
Anyway...her Murano has a factory-installed 5 disc system, a very nice sounding unit. The bad ground sounds like a great theory; unfortunately, the Murano is so space-age that I don't have a clue as to how to get to the stereo to check it out.
Thanks, and if anyone has any ideas, they're appreciated, even if it is for a Murano.

You don't have to hide that you bought one of those ugly things... :-D
We love the E but acknowledge the fact that there are other cars out there.
If it is still under the warrantee I would recommend taking it in. Given that it is a stock stereo, it'd be like trying to find a tick on a elephant's butt blindfolded.
It could be any of a number if things. It could be where any of the grounds meet the metal, it could be a short in a wire. I've seen before where the shrouding on a wire had been worn away by friction on a spreaker wire and that was causing a short.
There's just too many variables. If it's not under warrantee I would at least call the local service department, they might have had to deal with it before and can point you in the right direction.
