Hey,

On the Front and Rear Speakers there are four plugs which I don't plan on using with my aftermarket Speakers. I plan on just cutting them off and soldering directly to the new Speakers.

Question is how can I tell which is positive and/or negative after cutting the plugs off?

dc Voltmeter. Turn your radio on playing music, if it reads negative volts the leads are backwards. If it reads positive then the negative lead is the negative wire, the positive lead is the positive wire.

Or search for the wire colors in this forum.

The leads with the black stripes are negative.

Why not get a Honda speaker adapter plug from any audio shop (e.g. Circuit City), and connect those to the speakers. It will make changes easier in the future, including putting the old ones back in (for some reason or other). My philosophy is to avoid making permanent changes to the car.

Thx for the replies. btw (the above is a new one on me) What range is good to set my Voltmeter to? Is 20Volts a good range?

When I hook up the Voltmeter's leads do I just touch them to the speaker leads when playing the radio? If I get a neg reading then the leads are backwards and positive; this lead is then the positive wire?

Dude, im laughing my aass off right now. I just took my rear speakers out and I took apart one of those plugs for a closer look. Well... I errr..forgot to pay attention to what wires went were..

Man, I hate that. LOL.

I guess u could try lars method. Genom said the leads with the black stripes are neg but that may not help you since you took the plug apart so u can't be sure which side the neg goes on.

Here's an idea reassemble it the same way the one u didn't take apart then it will be connected properly.
