I'm attempting to isntall Infinity 6002si speakers in the front. The speakers requires 4 screws but there are only 3 threaded holes on the door! how do I screw theses speakers on? The included adapter ring doesn't line up either! Plz help

DRILL AWAY!! i got the same setup. don't use the adapter ring, it just gets in the way. i used self tapping screws when installing mine, made my own holes.

I didn't even drill... I just used self-tapping screws, and away they went.

You need to cut out the baffle. Re-use the 3 screws that hold the factory speaks (they hold better), and add one more that comes with the Infinity's.

When drilling use a bit smaller in diameter than the screw.

Mine were installed thusly;

What do you mean by cutting out the baffle?

The diameter of the inifity speaker seems to be a bit too short. If I drill where the holes line up, i'd be right at the edge of the speaker opening on the door. The 3 holes that are currently holding the stock speakers in, they're too far out to hold the infinity speaker it seems.

Actually, I'm wrong about the baffle (I'm a dummy - I admit it!). I had earlier removed mine when I tried a deeper mount speaker (which didn't work), but I now remember that the Infinity 600si ("s" is for shallow mount) fits just fine without the spacer ring (throw that away). The second pic above shows mine cut out (notice the colored portion of the door showing where the "baffle" used to be). So... in summation, you don't need to cut out the baffle with the si's.

As far as your second question, if you align the holes in a North, South, East, West orientation you'll be just fine. You'll end up re-using the factory hole at the top (no drilling required), which will work if you use the original Honda screw.

May I suggest an even simpler method? Trade in the speakers for Pioneers, which fit without modification (except trimming an alignment tab).

Paul-Can you share with Boogerg the exact model number of the Pioneers that fit the front?

How are these pioneers compared to the Infinity 6002-series speakers?

I bought the cheapest Pioneers that Circuit City had in summer 03, when I mounted them in my DX with out any problem. I don't recall the model numbers, but they currently sell similar looking speakers for about the same price (about $50 for the pair) - these are 2 way blue plastic cone ones, 6 1/2". I was a little surprised not too long ago to see a thread praising these. Though someone also expressed the opinion that anything aftermarket is better than the stock speakers.

I'm sure that the more expensive Infinitys are better sounding, but an ordinary mortal like myself probably couldn't tell the difference. There have been threads here and on .org since 03 about installing Infinity, Pioneer and probably Polk speakers. If installing something like the Infinity calls for more drilling and cutting than you are willing to do, something like the Pioneer provides a simple alternative.

Here's a thread page with installation experience for Pioneer 1670Rs (mine are probably the 1640s)

Thanks for all the help! I was able to install all 4 speakers smoothly! Drilling new holes was the way to go!
