Hello Everyone,

I am a new to this site and also the proud, new, one day owner of a Rallye Red, EX 5 speed. I can't wait to drive my new ride and might get a chance to test it out in the snow we might get on Monday.

I just stumbled on to the New England E Owners section of this site, which I think is really cool and plan on being active in. I was surprized that no one has posted since December '04, so I figured I'd say hello and find out who my "neighbor's" are!

How about starting off the first post of 2005 in this section, with a New England Element Owners "Roll Call"?

I'll start:

Uncle Mike from Springfield saying Hi Y'all!

I like your enthusiasm, but this is a tough group to fire up. Must have something to do with the stoic, reserved New England demeanor...or the weather...or maybe everybody's worn out from the Red Sox AND Patriot's celebrations. Welcome to the club...good to have some new blood.

Creepy Old Uncle Michael (as I've trained my nieces to call me)

Wow, an Uncle Mike and a Creepy Old Uncle Michael.....is the Club ready for the two of us!

Thanks for the welcome and I hope you are wrong about this group being tough to fire up. I must admit I also needed time to recover from the Red Sox and Patriot's celebrations!

OK, who else is an E enthusiast from New England?

Darn! If my name was Michael, I could have been Auntie Michael - that would have been so cool.

I'm 2 minutes over the border from MA. Just got my E 10 days ago. For the first time I am not looking online for accessories for my doggies, but for my E instead. :)

Hello Neighbors: Weedoggies and The J :)

Congrats on your 10 day old E! When does the accessory "obsession" begin? I've only had mine for 2 days and am already surfing around looking to add splash guards, all season mats, license plate holder.........to start with! I thought having dealer installed fog lights, roof rack and side steps were all I needed.

Let's see who else is here from New England?

I'm 2 minutes from the NH border and bought my E last November for my daily 100 mile (round trip) commute. Although I love my E, my summer fun car is a 99 Corvette.

The drive is to N. Quincy for me. If you need a good shop to take the E to, you might remember Duff's Garage on 113 between Rt.3 and the Tyngs Bridge. The owner is an old family friend and his mechanics went to grade school with my wife.

Welcome aboard. I will advise you tread carefully on the accessory trail. It can be addictive. I recommend you do some research on accessories on this site before you spend your money. Talk about a small world. I drive through Dunstable every morning on my way to work.... . Pepperell is where I call home

greetings from watertown mass! we element owners need to be waving to each other!! i have seen too many e drivers that are your typical sullen commuters around boston. the e is way too fun of a car to be like that!

Now that I've taken a closer look at the Element drivers I pass, I think I am just in the wrong part of the state. I drive over the border through Newburyport and Ipswich to go to work and all the E's I pass are sadly owned by grumpy women in their 50's.

I did experience a cool three-E formation on 95 south the other morning...a FBP, SMM and I all passed each other in separate lanes in a matter of moments. Yup, I've ventured into nErd territory.

Hello Folks,

Thanks for the response to this thread. I think some New England meets or activities sound like fun and I look forward to checking out the calendar as the warm weather approaches!

I experienced my first wave on day two of owning my E. I made it tough for the guy not to wave at me since I didn't want to be r-E-jected in my inaugural attempt. I was waiting to turn left out of a store lot and stared down the E driver coming right at me. I timed it just right and gave him an enthusiastic wave just as he was about to drive past me. He looked a little befuddled and gave me a wimpy, kind of confused wave. My wife took all of this in and cracked up laughing!

I'm a 49 year old, mostly ungrumpy, not quite over the hill guy, who will wave at all y'all, and loves driving his new 5 speed EX toy with the killer sound system!
("Look honey, my car came with a SUB WOOFER!".... hot diggity! )

so i was at work on friday and i left to go pick up my e from the garage where i got it detailed. i got back to work and was so psyched because it looked brand new (granted it's only 4 months old). i had spilled an iced coffee all over the inside the day before and was a little slow on cleaning it - that mixed with the mud didn't do much for the interior. the guys at the garage made it look awesome. so there's my random e story and i live in pomfret, ct and work in southbridge, ma. and if it were socially acceptable, i'd marry my e.

Hello and Welcome!

I have had my E only a few weeks and have never passed another E on the road until today. I drove by four of them today (in 4 different colors!), but went zero for four in my wave attempts!

Still hoping to see some more N.E. folks expressing interest in a meet or road trip this summer!

03-21-2005, 08:21 AM
I often wave, but not as much now that there are more on the road now. When I first got mine last winter, there were few on the road and everyone waved.

Best wishes,

Uncle MIke

Let's forget about "waving" for a moment, and try and get more website participation from New England Element owners, by at least saying "HELLO" on this thread! :)

The last time I checked there were over 7200 members of this club, yet only a handful have posted on this thread. Wassup wit dat? :-o I hope this New England forum dosn't set the record for having the highest number of "lurkers"! Come on Sox, & Patriot' fans........Give us a shout!!

Hi all, we just got our SOP two weeks ago and are loving it. We got a great deal on a leftover that they wanted off of the lot. Already have 1500 miles on it. It's the perfect dog mobile. Weedoggies we have probably passed each other on 95 I will keep an eye out. We have a WOOF sticker on the back.

Oh, cool! I had been thinking I hadn't seen a SOP since I chose the SSM over one at the dealership and now I've past a couple in the last week. Perhaps it was you!

I have a cartoon greyhound sticker on the back of mine, but it will be removed soon. It is doing the pose they refer to as "the roach" - on it's back with flailing legs, which a couple of my iggies do. A co-worker commented on my dead dog  sticker, and I won't have any of that!

Hello my fellow New Englanders! I'm from Mansfield, MA. I just took home my new Element today :) I fell in love with the Element when I went to the New England Auto Show last November. It was actually fun driving in all the heavy rain today. Hope at some point we can have a NE Element Club meet & greet.

Welcome ElementGrrl! :)

Congratulations on your new E and thanks for joining us here! I also enjoyed being out in the rain today and felt like I was in a nightclub on wheels by cranking up the BPM station on XM! I couldn't help but to laugh how cool it would have been to have had this car and stereo when I was eighteen. The good news is the E is kind of making me feel like I AM eighteen!

I'm happy to see you are also interested in participating in a meet or activitiE of some kind. I hope others chime in also and maybe if we put our thinking caps on we can come up with a fun idea that does not require too much work on anyones behalf to put together.

Enjoy your new ride!

Thanks Uncle Mike & Guy for the warm welcome  .

I know what you mean Uncle Mike about feeling like an eighteen year old again while driving the E. I think I'm having a mini, mid-life crisis since I'm turning 39 next month  I feel very young & hip driving around in my new E with the satellite radio cranked!

What is it about this vehicle that makes you immediately have the urge to E-accessorize! I have been very busy ready about the different accessories & mods that can be added to my new ride. I have to admit that I broke down and bought a couple of items online today. I'm so weak!

I hope when the weather gets a little warmer we can plan a get together here in NE. I think it would be really fun.

Welcome aboard danbo!

Congratulations on final-E getting the car you wanted! :)

I started this thread and the other thread: "List Your Ideas For New Egland Meets" as a newbie rarrrriinn to go in my new E, and meet up with some fellow E enthusiasts and club members at some meets, road trips, casual get togethers etc. Given the size of New England and the number of Element drivers, these threads have started off a little slower than I anticpated, but I'm not complaining. I believe in "quality not quantity" and would rather meet up with a smaller group of nice folks, than a large "convention" type crowd of folks who you may not get the chance to meet or talk with anyway.

It seems to me that the "leadership" positions are up for grabs.

Please list any ideas you may have for a New England get together on this thread:

The HondaSUV folks had their Olympics at Franconia Notch State Park. The drive up the Mt. Washington Auto Road was also an adventure. Great event, great location. Don't know if they're going to do it again this year, but I will announce it on EOC if they do.

Old lurker here, used to live in Merrimack, NH, moved to Wisconsin in August so my partner could go to law school, broke up with him and moved back to New England in December, just bought a house in Hartford, CT and got a yellow lab puppy.

I wave to all E's some folks wave back, some don't. Same thing when I drove a focus, those in the know wave, those that are clueless never do.

That was pretty cool - 3 E's all turning off onto our exit - perfect timing! Okay, enough chit-chat. I'll throw out a suggestion and see what kind of response it gets.

What: A Sunday afternoon picnic. Bring the family. Bring the dog(s). Most of all, bring the Element and a picnic lunch. Actually see the people you've met on the EOC forums, ogle each other's Elements, share windshield stories, discover non-automotive common interests, take lots of pictures, then post them and make everybody envious because we had such a great time..

When: May 15, rain date May 22. I'm guessing that some people may work on Saturday or have kids involved in sports. Things should be fairly green by then, but it's before the summer vacation season blossoms. This allows a month for folks to sign up.

Where: Purgatory Chasm State Reservation, Sutton, MA, just south of Worcester. http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/central/purg.htm Note: I know absolutely nothing about this place. Looks interesting but I've never been there. Hopefully somebody has some experience and can provide some insight. I picked it because it looks pretty centrally located and easy to get to from all different directions.

Comments? Anybody have a better idea? I'm not married to this plan. Just trying to build a fire from the spark that Uncle Mike started.

Uncle MIke
04-14-2005, 10:05 PM
Great Idea Bald Eagle!

Sorry your post had to go unanswered for 8 hours! I just logged in from my desk at work and was pleasantly surprised to see your suggestion. I checked out the link and it certainly seems to be a nice place to meet and hang out. I think Sunday is a great day (and one I can certainly attend), and is also a "throwback" to the days when families enjoyed "Sunday afternoon drives" together!

It would be nice if a group of New E-nglanders from this site got together for some comaraderiE and social E-vents such as this! Count me in and I will be happy to help "co-organize" this event with you if I can be of any minimal assistance!

Thanks for keeping the "spark" going, and I'm optimistic that we will be able to get enough people to make this a fun place to drive to on Sunday, May 15th! Who else is up for some fun on this day? :)

(I'll be in Texas over the weekend and will be without internet access until I return late Monday night. I look forward to checking out this thread when I get home!)

Got my E about two weeks ago -- already added a Home Depot lower grill cover, Lund intercepor bug deflector, and some really cool inserts for the cup holders and dash areas from Murdock industries. It's official. We are gittin' together. Nothing out of the ordinary...picnic, photography, maybe hiking, some interpretive dance, poetry readings, Element slalom, canine frisbee competition, automotive detailing clinic, battle of the bands and/or bluegrass concert, Revolutionary War reenactment, weaving demonstration, sack race, streaking...you know, the usual stuff. Please post on the "Ye Olde New England Springtime Gathering" thread even if you responded here.:)

I'm sure everyone is psyched for summer as well as some fun road trips and weekend excursions. Frankly, I'm looking for just about any excuse to gas up my E and take a drive ANYWHERE, if it means getting to stock up my cooler, load up my "pic-E-nic basket" and crank some tunes on the highway!:-D
I can't think of a better time to do this than at the:

Thanks for pulling up this thread and saying hello. I started it when I first bought my E, stumbled across this site, and was super excited to meet some fellow New England owners. I've been to two meets this summer and agree with Bald Eagle that the more posts on "New England" threads, the more interest there will be in future meets. Any other New England newcomers here?
Greetings!
I'm a proud owner of a 2005 MM EX and am having a great time owning an Element. I got her on D-Day, June 6th of this year. It's proved to be a great car for me as I am the one usually hauling my two daughters and a dog about.

I was disappointed that I couldn't get to the SB&HF, but we were driving back from Long Beach Island in Jersey after our stay at the beach. Perhaps there will be a Fantastic Fall Foliage Festival that we can make.

I also like you plate....I heard another line in here about a new New Hampshire line, instead of "Live free or die" it was changed to "Live E or die". Like I said I can't take credit, someone on this board wrote it.

The picnic was fun and I'm sure they'll be more and Uncle Mike will surely drag his new Kayak along......

My wife shocked me with a suggestion she made when we were driving home from the "EOC Summer Bug & Humidity Festival". Denise made me promise not to laugh before she would tell me her idea:........... which was to plan an overnight camping trip with the New England EOC and have us sleep in our Elements! :)

You'd have to know her to understand why I was shocked, she's had absolutly zero interest in camping before, and our vacations are always in hotels, resorts, etc. This last E meet must have really affected her (her first and my second one)! I'm also surprised to see her wearing the New England Chapter EOC tee shirt around, which I figured she'd keep just as a souveneir, but Noooo she's actually wearing it....what the heck is going on? :-o

Nahh, she's practically a "tea totaler"......just getting caught up in the moment I guess! :-D

Well, the summer events were a good time, and the calendar is really flying by. If anyone has any ideas for a fall or winter get together...Let's hear 'em! Anyone up for a fall picnic, foilage ride, hay ride, bike ride, ski trip, etc.? I love the idea of overnight camping, but am not sure a 2 day commitment is an easy thing for folks to schedule.

Check the NEMC thread (under Local Clubs) at HondaSUV for the latest information. They were trying to get a head count to make dinner reservations...but there's no obligation to do the full day. We've got something going on that morning, but may try to catch up later in the day.

Welcom to The EOC SALMONHOLE. Glad you joined us. I have been keeping an Eye on this thread for about two months.

I was hoping for an after X-mas NE Meet/winter drive. We need to start the planning NOW. We need to find someplace to go and find out how many.

So it looks like if We want you in on this, we have to do it B-4 May.

Looking at the numbers in the open area of the board, It looks like about 50 from NE.

If we only got 10 it would still be Fun.

Waiting to see if this starts to come togeather.

Well, i dont know what anyone else thinks. But Dom.five contacted me about maybe doin an EOC meet in New Bedford, Mass. at Antonio's Restaurant. It's a Portuguese Restaurant, one of the best in the area. I know people come from all over the this part of the state to eat there. You will have leftovers when you are done eating and the prices are more than reasonable. Here is a link to the local newspaper giving a review of the restaurant.

Ahhhhhhhh - home sweet home.

I've been in China for two weeks and just arrived back home last night. Flying into Burlington last night I was looking out the window of the plane and really was hit by how much beauty we're surrounded by.

I visited very industrial, highly populated, dirty areas of China so the sight of Lake Champlain and the blue, blue skies almost brought tears to my eyes.

I stood outside of my house last night just taking deep breaths of fresh, clean air.

It's good to be back!

hey I was wondering........would this be a dinner thing only or would some of us, who don't like night driving, (old eyes), might want to get a room????

Are there other things around there that might be of interest in New Bedfoird? I know that city has a lot of one way streets, so for out of towners, we'd have to negotiate carefully.

Luckily it's near the highway. Just wondering if we could incorporate more than just dinner.

Thanks,

There are a few things, but not much in the winter. It is a city but not too bad to get around. There is the Whaling Museum in the downtown area. And a few blocks away from Antonio's, there is a HUGE Antiques store. There are other activities as well, but what was brought to my attention, mainly is Antonio's. And if anyone wants to stay the night, theres a Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn and a Marriot Suites all close by.

Denise and I are always up for some Sunday afternoon/evening activities and it's great to see some ideas being posted here. New Bedford sounds good to us and I like the idea visiting the hometowns of fellow EOC members. I also think it's great for people to post any fun ideas for casual

I've never been in it, but the sign on the front says "250 Dealers". It based inside one of the old Mills in the city. And if Home Depot has its way, it wont be there too much longer.

Actually it's more of a carrot for Screaming Eagle (...although accepting at first, Pam is beginning to resent that handle. May have to change it to something like "Shopping Eagle").

I'd be up for a New Bedford area meet for spring. If we come that far we might venture out to the Cape for the weekend. Make New Bedford/Antonio's the finale on Sunday? We're pretty busy through April, but May is wide open.

The Honda SUV folks are having a meet at Watkins Glen this weekend (July 8th). I check over there periodically and noticed the chatter about this a while ago. Unfortunately it snuck up on me, or I would have tried to get some E owners to join in.

Evidently if you get fifteen people to sign up you can do a lap of the Watkins Glen race course.

How cool is that!?

I haven't been on the EOC much over the past couple of months as life as been super busy.

Here in Burlington I have noticed an Element explosion - E's are everywhere! I get some waves, but not as many waves as I get when I am in the White Mountains of NH - another E-centric place!

I'm not much of a mod person but I have added a roof-top Thule rack system. Since I have two large, goofy labrador retrievers I've opted to put my bike on the roof of my E. I'm not exactly tall, so it's a bit tricky getting the E up there, but with practice its become much easier.

The other "mod" is adding in a TomTom 510 GPS. I've only had it for a few days, but fiddling around with it sitting in my house it seems to be mapping routes just about the way I expect it to. I can't decide what I want to do in terms of mounting it, but I guess that's another post for another thread!

Anyway, just checking in. I am off to China and Korea next week but I will be home at the beginning of August and I may just pop in to the upcoming meet!

Happy summer everyone!

How many people normally come to the element meets? The first New England/Northeast meet in the Spring of 2005 drew about 6-8 Elements for a Sunday afternoon gathering. It has grown steadily since then. Haven't checked lately, but we have something like 16-18 campsites reserved for the August meet, plus who knows how many joining the group for the day on Saturday or Sunday.

There is a hard core group at most every meet as well as more and more first time new faces. It's a diverse group drawn together by their Element ownership who then discover all kinds of other common interests.

Planning to join us?

Hope you enjoy your international travel and it will be great if you can join us at the summer meet and maybe get to see Bald Eagle in a grass skirt! (It's a Hawaiian theme so wear a tropical shirt if you have one)

Hello and welcome to the EOC. If you are enjoying your E and have been looking for an on-line community of fun loving Element enthusiasts, who also share other interests......Congratulations on finding this site....You will love it here!:D

I started this thread a year and a half ago as a newbie owner who just joined the"club", and was dying to attend my first meet. My wife thought I was nuts when I invited her to the first meet...."Your going to drive 45 minutes to hang out with a bunch of strangers?" Well guess what, that first meet was so much fun, with everyone feeling like an old friend, that I came home and said "Honey....You missed a great time today and you HAVE TO attend the next meet with me!" Denise went to the next meet to "make me happy" but a funny thing happened...She Had A Blast!.......and has been to every meet since then. Trust me there are no "cliques"....(gawd I HATED those in high school), just a great bunch of people who will welcome you the moment your E pulls into the lot!:D

Ahhhhh, back from a trip to Asia and I'm up at 6am! That's actually not too bad, considering I flew in late yesterday afternoon.

The trip was successful, but .........

I LOVE BEING HOME!!!! Particularly because I live where I do ... I stood on my front porch at 5am this morning and just took deep breaths of FRESH air, looked at the blue sky, and listened to the birds singing. And beyond the birds singing I just listened to the silence .... two weeks in Asia and in hotel rooms gives you either an incredible amount of noise, or manufactured silence (ie - the soundproofed kind of hotel silence). Also, I am drinking a REAL cup of coffee .... Starbucks is your only option over there and thought I do like a frappucino, I"m not one to drink their hot coffee

Anyway, I am super, super stoked to be home!!! Later on this morning I'll set my Garmin to the White Mountains of NH and slowly make my way over, entering the Mt. Washington Valley via Crawford Notch, with the final destination of N. Conway. I'm picking my my two labs after two weeks without them. It should be quite the reunion! Last time I was a away for so long my black lab got a bit too excited and gave me a fat lip with that big 'ol block head of his.

Enjoy your days NE Element owners .... we truly live in a beautiful part of the world.

Kebba,

I've been following your posts and I being a serious homebody buried out here in the ruralness of where I live, I feel your excitement to be home. The orchrestra of the wilderness i.e. birds, chipmonks and the locust are all welcoming sounds.

I was curious who wacthes your dogs for you. I justed watched my son's shepherd for 8 days. What a sweetie.

Glad you're home safe and your dogs are in heaven now.

When I travel my ex watches the dogs. We got the dogs together, but I took them when we split. She actually asked to split up the dogs, she'd take one and I'd take the other but there was NO way that was going to happen. They absolutely adore each other and spent most of their time together. Plus, they clearly look to me as the leader ... she was always just another member of the pack!

Looks to be a beautiful weekend in New England!

I've actually had my Element (2003 EX, black) since April and have just got around to posting here.

So, uh, hi!

Read about the meet at the end of August... not going to be able to make that, too short notice for me at this point. Ah well. Now I know to watch here.

And special greetings to:
- The guy in the black E who held up a "elementownersclub.com" sign to the window on Hoosick St. as he pulled next to us at a stoplight.
- Whoever it is I saw today and yesterday in a different black E (very nicely accessorized!) coming west down Hoosick St. Nice looking brushguard and grill.

Hey all - Jersey City here! I just found this New England area and am glad I did. I only wish I had seen it sooner as I just made reservations with friends to go to the Catskills the weekend AFTER the meet :-x I do hope there are more in the future. Welcome, Beaker!

I just coined a name for our recent gathering in the Catskills (maybe someone else had the same idea first): Rainback Mt.

I didn't get my tent pitched, dried, and repacked until late last week. It had about a gallon of water in it and didn't smell so great.

should have slept in the E!
Easier to dry out:)

Besides - sleeping in the tent was risky there, at Rainback, with the blackbear visiting every few hours:-o

Hello E owners!

This is my first post but have been a long time lurker while dreaming of the day I can get my E which has finally happened! I am a new E owner now.

My baby is a used 2004 Satin Silver Metallic 4WD EX AT with Gray/Blue interior. I took delivery of it on Sept. 12 2006 from Herb Chambers Honda in Boston.

Checking the vehicle's history, the car is not that old in terms of years. It was bought new on Jan of 2005 (registered Jan 14, 2005). In the year and a half the previous owner had it however, the owner managed to accumulate 35k + miles. I don't know yet if that is a good or bad thing.

The car is clean. There is a 2mm X 3mm area where the paint had chipped on the exterior with some small rust buildup. I'm going to take it to a body shop to fix. The cargo area in the back has seen a lot of use. The plastic has scratches from items being pulled in and out and sliding around.

No mods yet! But I will be starting with window visors and seat covers. I will then get side steps and fog lights at a later date. After that... well, no concrete plans yet. We'll just have to see.

So far, I am very happy with it. I'll post pictures as soon as I can. I'll be taking some this weekend.

Glad to have found this site! :)

heh I'm InSaNeBoY on the 'tex too (I'm member #141 :???: )

lesse, cleaned the MAF and ISV, clutch cable is a threaded one. I bought it with a blown tranny. so I've replaced that, clutch, radiator, upper flange and o-ring, coolent expantion tank, v-belts, timing belt, tentioner, strut, springs, tires, bumper, fuel filter... most recently I got a set of ecode headlights and taillights shipped in from germany so I got those on this past weekend, last thing I have to do is wire the rear fog light up. my second car was an 85 GLi, and aside from a Saab 9000Turbo and the Element every other car has been a VW. (actually sold my pair of Passat wagons to get the element a 92 GL and a 97 GLX)

Now I'm trying to track down a v-belt shield, belts slip in the rain with the A/C on. I also have to replace the o2, there's a short somewhere in the line causing some serious problems in the rain (have it disconnected now, so it runs, fuel economy has gone up a tad too heh)

city lights on... not that ya can really tell with a 10 sec exposure heh

sheet aluminum, make a pattern out of card board and tape and then take it to a shop that does duct work and have it made out of aluminum and use some sheet metal screws to hold it in place. have 2 or 3 made b/c it's easy once they have a pattern. sell an extra one for profit to offset your expences and then keep one for spare for that raccoon or possum you will ineveitably run over. i used to work at a race car shop so fabbing sheet metal is cake for me. i offered the shop $20 to borrow thier brake and shear and did it myself in half an hour. the plastic OEM one sucks... strong wind or a good puddle and you'll be looking for annother non-existant hard to find peice. or you could figure out how to go serpentine, it is possible. 2.slow stuff fits, not cheap or easy but if you find the collection of right parts it's 100x better than V-belts.

InSaNeBoY
10-25-2006, 01:52 PM
that's a good idea... I know a guy that works at a local HS that has a full autoshop and machine shop in it that he gets to use nights/weekends see if I can get him to make me one ;)

serpentine ha! that won't happen as long as I want to keep my A/C still got a working R-12 system in the car and it's way too expencive to do a proper R-134a conversion just to use the 2.slow compressor. (keep in mind the GTi is my commuter, so I con't have to waste all that gas driving the element 60 miles a day)

Well today was the final straw for me....I snapped. Went to the Drs today as part of my weekly treck to the surgerns office. Well I lost 1 lb big deal. It is stress I know this that is why I didnt lose weight. Now for those that dont know I am on a liquid diet and salad diet for a while and have managed to lose 45 lbs. Prior to me having Gastric Bipass. I need to lose 46 more due to medacare guidlines and the insurance carrior that the hospital carries for mal practice. And as my luck would have it another person had to remind me that I needed to be under a set weight, and I snapped BIG TIME took me 2 times to try to compose myself before I could make it home. I drive 140 miles round trip and have been doing this now sence 9/21. I work nights and travel there after work so to say that my "fun meter" is about pegged to overflowith is an understatement. So I managed to make an appointment for next week and was on the NYS Threway and well as some of you know the exit for the Northway on 90east I was talking to mom she said to pull over I did and sitting there was a cop. I was there for about 10 min and well he called it in a NYS Threway person was now pulled in behind me lights flashing and then the cop that was running a speed trap. They came up to my car and asked if I was ok and I was embarased and well I got on my way. Talked to the surgern and told him that I was stressed to the max with work, mom needing a knee replacement and money has been tight to say the least and that was the main reason that I have not lost weight. We agreed that setting the date back would be a good Idea so I am not going under the knife in January.

The up side...I realized theis later is that a person from management will be having her knees replaced and well she will be on my floor and I will get out of taking care of her....although I wanted to wake her up at 530 in the am I guess I will have to suffer threw not doing that

After being in a not so fun accident and having our last car totaled, my wife and I just bought our first Honda! A 2003 Element, 4wd EX, Nighthawk Black Pearl. We've test driven it a bunch of times and it's currently at the dealers getting certified.

We can't wait to get this car home and start driving it for real! We've got one messy daughter and are expecting a 2nd child soon, so the easy clean feature is a definite plus! We're also doing a lot of driving over the next year or so and the roominess compared to our old car (a '99 Pontiac Sunfire) is going to make this much, much easier.

Hi,
New member here. After debating for a long time, I finally bought my new Element 2 days ago: '07 Galaxy Grey 4WD AT. I HATED negotiating at the dealership (also Herb Chambers; he seems to be popular!!) but think I got a decent deal. The finance guy pulled a fast one, though -- or at least I think it was a bit sneaky-- he calculated the sales tax and registration into the financing without asking me. So heads up. I had done my homework, though, and read quite a bit on this site, so I was about as prepared as I could get.
I did find that the local dealerships lied very easily about their online quotes. They could all "do better than that" when I gave them other dealers' prices, but then reneged in person.
My salesman was only 22!! (Yes! a zygote, practically) and was ok-- began to view me as a mother figure :) and made me laugh when he complained how he didn't like having a job where everyone assumed he was a scumbag. I told him it could be worse: he could be a lawyer, or worse here in Boston, a priest. Just joking, in case any of you are lawyers or priests.

Two days into my new (used) 2004 EX. I've always been a German car guy, so this is a big change for me. I got to the point of simply not wanting to constantly repair the German cars anymore, wanted a Honda, and couldn't pull off the Acura. Between that, the dog, and all of the work we're doing on the house the E seemed like a good choice. At $16k and 30k miles, it was a good deal.

So far, I like it, thought I'm really looking for some ways to make it more cozy inside. It's rather spartan. I'm thinking, for starters, the storage armrest, some carpets (possibly SCA, but would like to go a bit cheaper), and at some point a new HU.

Anyway, I'm in New Haven, CT and am looking forward to seeing some of your mods in person. I've been an avid modder of Vespa scooters for years now and am looking forward to customizing and making my E my own.

Hey Dr.....

We welcome someone new to the group and Bald Eagle has a mailing list to contact everyone about meets both Local, unofficial and Offical. We tend to have 4 seasonal Official meets with several mini-meets in bewteen.

If you'd like just ask Bald to put your name on the List, so you get informed. I'm not far from you and we travel all over New England.

Check The Official Winter thread about New Hampshire meet. This is a relaxing time, not modding. Check the Official Spring meet, this is camping...... kayak time. (some folks hang at camp with a huge feast on Sat. night)

Sometimes we meet to do only mods for the weekend, like Justin said, at camp Carly. I got my PIAA yellow fogs, rear inside latch opener and my gutter guard grill at the last meet.

So, enjoy this community of great, They are knowledgable and have great E insight.
always,
jurn

Well, truth be told, I favor going home and getting some nice deep dish from Giordonno's in Chicago. I'm a Chicago by through and through. But I do enjoy a good apizza. I'm partial to Modern, but I'm on the other side of town and I don't kae it over there too often. If found that a little place in my old neighborhood that delivers and is about 9/10 as good as Modern. Meatball and onion all the way!

Thanks all for the warm greetings. I'm definitely interested in the events, so please do have Bald put me on the list. I used to be a very avid backpacker and rock climber, but have become married, complacent, and fat. The Element has inspired me to get active again, so I'm really very excited. What's the easiest way to contact Bald?

You're on the list! I only send out reminders for the quarterly get togethers though...can't keep up with all of the mini meets. Keep an eye on the Northeast Chapter threads for the complete social schedule.

I just wanted to say hello to the other Northeastern E owners!

I'm new to the site, but got my E in August. It's a 2006, my first brand new car ever, I bought it specifically for my dogs, and I absolutely love it. I definitely look forward to hearing about get togethers. I live in MA now but will be moving to Maine very very shortly.

SisMorphine: don't let Bald Eagle pull the feathers over your eyes! The NE group is the friendliest in the whole damn place! (They even include me in their shenanigans!) They're mainly pet-friendy, too, though excessive biting, licking or leg-humping is mainly discouraged before dark!

New member from Upstate NY. I have been looking at getting an element for about a year and in my research found this site. I am a long time Honda owner, although I am new to the Element. The civic is my area of expertise so please excuse any dumb questions I may ask. My fiancée and I currently have a 91 CRX Si, a 97 Accord and a 97 Civic. I’m looking for something with 4WD and 4 doors! I really want a 07 EX-P, however I am really thinking about getting something a little older and re-painting it to have body-matching panels.

Anyway, Hi to all. I'm sure I'll enjoy my stay here very much.

Welcome to the club Mrs. Baker!:)

I stumbled upon this site exactly the same way as you did: while researching the Element. You will love it here, especially as a "newbie"...so much fun checking out the various forums, learning about the E, seeing what others have to say, making new freinds and attending meets. Congratulations on your decision to be a member instead of a lurker!
(You can still "memberlurk" if you want but it is much more fun logging on and posting!)

Good luck in your purchase decision. If you havn't taken an E for a test drive make sure you do and I bet you'll be "hooked" even more. Good idea about buying and "older model" and painting the panels even though many folks here will cringe at the thought. Buy an Element, customize it to your needs and ENJOY IT!:-D

Let us know what you end up buying and in the meantime try and take in a Northeast Chapter E-Vent to meet some GREAT people here drving some very cool "toasters"!

I've had my E since 5pm today. Cool red EX. Can't wait to let it loose in my hometown of Atkinson, NH and the rest of the area. Heading to Nova Scotia soon also. :D

I know what you mean about options. I won't be happy until I have it all. So far I got cargo cover, net, mud flaps, sunroof screen, window visors.

Picked the E because it is four-footed family friendly. We have two dogs and five cats. The dogs love to ride, the cats not so much. Add my husband and myself and we needed a roomy vehicle with a view.

New England meet in May sounds interesting. Hey maybe it will snow!

There are four seasons in New England - almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction.
