Just ordered a part to be painted yesterday....I am taking it to a person who painted his panels on his Avalance. It will be a test before i rip anything off my E

Great! Let me know how it works! Are you using any specific technique (paint thickener, primer, etc...) since the panels are flimsy :?:

I've been thinking about painting the panels on my SOP. Was there a lot of prep work to do and did they use a proper paint to allow for flexability of the panels? Did they remove the panels for painting? About how long was your "E" in the shop for?

Cheers

First of all, the paint job looks great! About how much did it cost?

Also, I have read some posts in the past where people are against painting the panels because they think it will ruin the 2-tone effect. I have an SOP and was thinking about painting the panels silver to maintain the 2-tone look. Has anyone seen this done before?

I'm sorry but the picture I received from a friend in Califormia that sent it to me....he says a dealer offers it as an option..... :?: ..My wife's Element ( soon to be delivered.... :?: ) will be a Orange and will have the panels...I posted the picture to show those of you that are thinking about having the panels painted...

and Rycam...find a host online, copy the properties of the picture you want to post...then type: .....now copy the properties....and close it with ...
Good luck and sorry for the misunderstanding....

I wonder if getting the panels painted would better protect them from scratching. Though I don't seem to be having too much of a problem w/ any scratching yet even w/ a 128 mile daily commute (knock on composite!)

Wonder what mine would look like all black....

I'm painting my panels in about two weeks. I am taking it to an auto body shop. They are charging me 2500 for every piece of plastic on the car except the silver plastic on the front. They are gonna make it look bone stock. They are going to paint it over body color, then they sand it. Then they paint it again, and sand it. Then paint it one more time, clear coat it, protect it, the whole deal. This is supposed to be a 3500 dollar deal, he showed me the invoice. Though expensive, still a good price. I'll post pics soon.

Cool! Let me see when you get done. All black will look nice. I am going to do it myself using a friends body shop. Let me know how good that method works.
