How do I hook up an amp 2 ohms vs. 4 ohms? On my Rockford amp it says I will get more power at 2 ohms. So how do I do this? It says 250 watts at 4 ohms while I could get 500 at 2 ohms. This is on an old school Rockford amp so I know the power is way higher but I just need help hooking it up to get the most wattage!!!
Thanks
L.

The ohms is the resistance of the speakers. It depends on what you're using the amp for inorder to decide how to get the most out of it. Are you running subs if so whats the impedence. If you running mids what are they how many

I'm running one RF punch power 12. It's 600 watt rms 2100 peak. Nominal impedence:4 ohm/8 ohm. This is out of an old brochure that I have from '98. Thanks for your help!!

Hey,
If you run two 4 ohm speakers in parallel you will have a 2 ohm load and thus your amp will produce the higher wattage. Be careful though, the amp must be capable of running at 2 ohms. Some will say this but get very hot and burn-up.
Thx, Phil

sub or 2. What the impedence of the subs...ie... 4ohm.... 8ohm....dvc 4ohm....If u have 2 4 ohm subs the you really can't run that amp at 2 ohms mono because it will burn up. If u run 2 8 ohm subs mono and drop it down to 4 ohms mono that should peak the power of the amp. or if you run 2 4 ohm dvc (dual voice coil) subs and parallell the vioce coils on each sub you will be running 2 ohms stereo. It be easier to draw it out but no matter how hard I press on the monitor it won't transfer to the screen
