: Meguiars car care products?
gfxguy 03-09-2005, 02:01 PM Anybody with any experience with this company's products?
I can get a package deal for
* Gold Class Car Wash 16oz.
* Liquid Cleaner Wax 16oz.
* Spun Gold Wash Mitt
* Applicator Pad
* Ultimate Wipe
* Car Odor Eliminator
* Protectant Wipes
* Bug & Tar Wipes
* Leather Wipes
* ScratchX
* Glass Wipes
For like $25.00. For the record, I've only ever just used the cheapest car wash and Turtle Wax (just the liquid nowadays). I'd wipe the interior with a damp cloth. Cars always lasted and looked good for 10+ years.
babyhippie 03-09-2005, 02:05 PM We like Meguiar's products. My husband uses them on his '57 Chevy, my Dad uses them on his Corvettes & I use them on my E. We use the Gold Class Car Wash & Cleaner Wax (solid) most often.
joemama 03-09-2005, 02:56 PM You really can't go wrong with Meguiars products. In college I used to work at a Porsche Dealership detailing cars. I have tried lots of products.
Meguiars is a family owned company that (to my knowledge) only makes appearance products for cars, trucks, boats and believe it or not violins.
STP Armor All and others are just huge chemical companies that happen to also make car care products.I like to stick to small companies that are interested in good products and happy customers. Not mass sales and bottom line for shareholders.
The package you outlined seems like a steal. I would get it.
Go to the meguiars website and fill out a car care prescription.
The Meguiars Endurance tire treatment is the best I have found.
I think you will be hooked on Meguiars when you try the products.

gfxguy 03-09-2005, 03:31 PM Thanks guys. Can't really go wrong for $25, but I was worried about getting another armorall or something that might actually be bad in the long run.
biocube 03-09-2005, 05:11 PM no way. they make great stuff.
i use their shampoo/soap to wash, and a few times a year their liquid wax.
JamesCzar 03-09-2005, 05:21 PM So where are you getting this package? And how can we get one at this price?

geoduck 03-09-2005, 08:21 PM Meguiar's products are great. I just seem to trust their products more than any other brand, maybe the hype is more low key.
Your list has some nice products, but for my Element I actually have been using the newer NTX line and have been much happy. The NTX high tech wax goes on quickly and looks very glossy. The NTX protectant I have applied to the plastic body cladding doesn't seem to smear and brings out a richer grey. It also seems better than Armorall on the interior paneling.

I've been using the Mequiar's Gold Class liquid wax for a couple of years now and I'm very happy with the results, but does the paste work any better or seem to provide longer-lasting protection? I'd imagine that the paste would be a bit more work to apply... eh?
I also use the Quick Detailer occassionally between washes when I'm wanting to quickly restore the E's gleam. Sometimes you've just gotta show off a bit, y'know.

I work for a television broadcasting company that Meguiars advertises on. Sometimes my company negotiates reduced advertising rates by including discounts to company employees. From what I've seen online (I found package deals online, too), the discounts are not that fantastic as to make it worthwhile for me to buy for you, and even if I did I'd only be able to buy for one or two people.
wankerklink 03-29-2005, 12:02 PM I have been using meguires products for 25yr. and am totally satisfied. the difference between goldclass paste and liquid is as follows: {I use both}
You may wax your whole car before removing the liquid and it goes on easier.
when using the paste {sparingly and preferably with an orbital buffer} do one
section at time and do not let it dry.
the paste is more economical in that you get more waxings and the benefits
seem to last longer, but it takes much longer to wax your car. paste also removes light swirl marks better. In my experience Meguires Medallion is a longer lasting benefit, but doesn't have the brilliance of Goldclass.
You won't go wrong with anything fromm Meguires

Don't mean to be picky here, but unless your paint has oxidation, then don't bother using a Cleaner Wax. The key part is cleaner. That cleaner isn't there to pull off dirt. It's there to remove oxidation. Oxidation won't happen until the paint is at least 6-7 years old.
I would use the following products:
1) Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash -or- NXT Line Car Wash.
2a) Meguiar's Deep Crystal #2 Polish -and- Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax.
2b) Or instead of 2a, just use Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wax. It is a Polish Wax.
NXT Tech Wax is a Pure Wax and does not bring out the wet look so it should have a seperate polish.
Now, if you want even more deep shine, then after about a week, re-wash your E and apply a pure Carnauba Wax. Carnauba doesn't last long but it looks amazing.
Now, if you want the best wax that will last a long time, then there's only one product: Zaino. It will last 4-6 months, can be layered and looks amazing.
In my experience, Meguiar's Gold Class Wax lasts about 4-6 weeks. Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax lasts about 8-10 weeks.
