Nevermind. I have to shrink the file so much that the picture looks like crap.
Anyone know how to remedy this?

just resize the pic to 4x6 and save it as a jpg.

it can be up to 180k, iirc.

you may have to drop the resolution too, but screen resolution is only 72dpi, so if you drop it to 200 or so, no worries.

I know that what you are saying is probably a simple procedure, but it sounds like you're speaking Chinese to me. I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to doing that type of stuff.

To best be able to help you BC, first, perhaps, you could tell us what software you use for editing your pictures. Ie., is it something that came with your camera, something that came with the computer, a printer or maybe Photoshop.... That would helps people better tell you how to correct or manipulate the photo.

Also, what settings are you using on your camera and what camera do you have. Is it a Digital? If you have images 3mpxls or larger and shoot Fine and Large, you should have no problem posting them in decent quality. Since you are saying that your pictures were too large, I would assume you have a fairly decent resolution (Megapixels) camera. Remember, you should be able to size a picture down with little problems but resizing up is where you should loose most quality.

Perhaps your pictures are taken at a lower quality setting and can't stand much manipulation.

So, to start, as others have mentioned, resize your picture. Don't worry about the 72ppi or 200ppi as those effect the printed pictures. Make sure your image is no larger than 640 wide x, whatever the aspect ratio of your camera is. This might be a little technical but if that is 4:3 than 640 would correspond to 480. If 3:2 than the picture would be 640 x 426. That is assuming you are using full frames and havent cropped your image to an irregular aspect ratio.

Then, re-save your image to a new file, (Rename it so that you don't ruin your original), and save as a .jpg or JPEG file type. If and when asked about quality to save, save them as a medium quality or compression. I use Photoshop and it gives a scale of 1-12 for quality. I usually save about 5 or 6. Some programs, in the window for file type and location.... will ask for quality and give you the option of something like Best, Good, Basic or something like that. In the end, you should be able to get a good picture down to about 100K or so. Most of my pictures, like the one below, come in around 80k or less

640x480 77.2K

To see what sizes and file sizes others are getting, right click on a picture, click properties and check for sizes.

As for saving your images, I save mine in my own ISP (FTP) space on AOL. Most ISPs give you a set amount of space for a webpage... On AOL, for example, iirc, it is about 2 meg per screen name. I get 5 names on my account. Check into that and see if you have some space on your ISP to save photos. Then see how to upload photos there. AOL is a bit of a pain unless you have 1 or 2 files to manage. You have to do them one at a time. However, using a program called CuteFTP, I can upload larger batches of files or delete files to my AOL account more efficiently. Almost as easilly as going into Windows Explorer and maintaining my hard drive files. You can also upload them here to EOC and that shouldn't be too difficult. I did a quick search for How To on the subject and found this.

http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3975&highlight=Upload+Photo

Click on the upload link in that post and insert your member name and then click on Browse. You then go through your hard drive to locate the file and then select it. The rest should be done for you. Note the file name and location, (URL) that is given to you and put that into your post surrounded by and . Your picture than should display on your post. The best thing about saving on your ISP is that you can manage the photos yourself. Upload them, remove them, change them.... on your own decisions. By posting to EOC's server, you could find your pictures purged if the group runs low on space for pictures. Many groups like this will regularly purge old photos after a set amount of time.

Again, for more specific help, let us know some of the specifics of your photo and software you have access to. If you have access to Photoshop, open the picture, click Image at the top of the window and then look for Resize. Select Maintain Aspect in the checkbox and put 640 for the width. Then, save as you normally would and as mentioned above.

The grille is made by B-Cool and I just used a little silicone to attach the emblem. The wheels are 20" with 245/40/20 tires and it is lowered with the Eibach Pro-Kit. I originally used springtech springs, but it rode like a shopping cart.
