I just bought my '05 Element EX. I have read all about the converting the AUX and Sub to work with an aftermarket radio. But what is required for me to get an aftermarket radio and hook up XM? Is there a box I need? Can I use the stock antenna? Is there anything I need to buy? Someone please help me. Thanks guys

Sure....if you don't want to use the stock radio you don't have to. Just buy the adapter for the new head unit you would like to install, hook up the sub and aux and connect to the stock antenna. The antenna will work on all radios......whether it has XM or not. :)

See I want to retain my XM radio and use the stock XM antenna. So if I bought a head unit that was XM Ready (Pioneer most likely) what else would I have to purchase?

This is a question I need answered as well. Plz someone plz know the answer to this. The question is where is the stock xm reciever. xm now has a universal xm reciever but I'm not interested in shelling out $100 buck to get my aftermarker cd player to work.

The E has a special plug coming from the antenna pack in the back.It does not have a Motorola plug for AM-FM.At this time,Metra is working on making an adapter.I think some Acura's may also have this special plug for 05.

I am trying to replace my stock system and at this time I have NO radio.

I think I can find a way to adapt the antenna but what I am concerned about is if I can use the stock xm tuner. Obviously it is one of those odd harnesses that plug into the back of the stock radio.

I don't think anyone knows. You might want to post on xmfan.com or xm411.com. Both have an installations forum and you might have better luck there.
