I saw a posting for this on a forum about improving gas mileage. Anyone ever heard of this company?

I know a couple of people that drive Hybrids. According to them, one of the reasons they get such great gas mileage is because they constantly see what kind of mileage they're getting. This makes them more of an active participant, rather than just doing the calculation when you fill-up at the gas station.

Hmmm... I don't think getting MPG through the OBD-II connector is possible on the E. So this won't work for us.

There is a "minimum set" of data points required by the EPA, and Honda only has the required points at the connector. The Big 3 domestic makers "publish" much more data through the port, and it would be no surprise to me that fuel rates are part of it.

Also - and having some experience getting data this way on the E - the "handshaking" between the OBD-II port and any computer is flaky. I was toying with the idea of having a small (or handheld) computer as a permanent dash display to gather more data for some trivial mods I was playing with, and discovered to my dismay that it would sometimes take up to two minutes for the computers to "sync", and that the connection would get dropped a lot.

So... bottom line... the idea is great, but this way of doing it won't work for us.
