We came to Denver for a national dog evaluation and what was supposed to be a 4 day trip, turned into a 6 days. We were trapped due to the record breaking snow blizzard. I-70 from Denver to Kansas was closed and did not open up until this afternoon. We drove in the snow (about 12 inches), and we were very impressed by the AWD capabilities of the Element (aka JuneE). Actually I don't know if it ever kicked in or not, but I did not feel the car slip once. The Element drove right through it. I put it in 2nd, reverse, then went forward in 2nd in the 12 inches of snow. Actually it was deeper in front of JuneE because of the snow drift. I had to laugh because there was a Ford F150 4WD who was having problems getting out. Even the tow truck driver was slipping & that was in the plowed section!
Here are some pictures of JuneE in the snow, but it was on the second day after I had already smashed some of the snow down.
