Sup folks:
I have some scratches on my wife's 98 Accord with dark green paint/saddle interior. Unfortunately, this past winter while getting about 18" of snow off of the car, my carelessness led me to hit the surface paint a few times. The scratches are very narrow, some as thin as a hair. They look white when contrasted with the surrounding green paint.

The paint has never had any abrasives applied. The car gets 2 hand applied paste waxings per year and reguler washings and spray wax. I'm also going to clean the engine and engine compartment. Wifey wants to buy an 05 Accord so this is probably the pre-sale prep/detail.

It's a 98 Accord, 4 door, 2.3, 5 speed with 105,000 miles. Car just sits in my driveway. Wifey put about 75,000 miles on the Accord in the first 3 years. Since a promotion, she has commuted into the city by train since 2001.

Thank you in advance for suggestions.

I've never tried it, but a friend of mine said he had good luck with that color match wax stuff.

It's a short term fix, but if your selling or trading, that's all you need.

One of the Color Wax Mfg. also supplies a crayon type dinghy with it to fill in the scratch{Turtle Wax I think}.

I had a few light scratches from my snow brush from this past winter as well on my SOP Element. I got rid of them all in about 2 minutes. I used a 3M product. Can't recall the exact name, but I think it is a buffing compound. Just rubbed it on, buffed it off, then did it again to play it safe. Looks brand new as though it were never scratched.

Yeah, it's called a Chip Stick I think. These are DEFINATELY a short term solution though, and they only work well on a sunny day when the vehicle is warm so that the wax can melt into the crack.

As far as the white scratches mentioned above, that might just be the clearcoat finish. With a good polishing compound and a random-orbit buffer you might be able to blend any MINOR scratches out yourself. If you want a long term solution you might give this a try. And if in doubt about your skills I would highly recommend having it done professionally at a reputable body shop.
