So nice to be clean with nice new tires and fogs for the week. Wax as You Dry worked good, but still left water spots bad....had to buff those out with a soft cloth which took some time. Oh and Sunflower oil + rag worked wonders on removing wax stains on the panels :)

Although I voted "no" on the white letters yes or no thread, your pics have made me change my mind (at least for black Elements)!

Yup, thats my feeling too. A Black, white, gray, or silver colored vehicle looks better with white letters in my opinion.

Glad there is so much fanfare, it does look great. Maybe I can get me Element of the Month for May. I shall start the campaign :)

I was going to get some black or anhthracite rims with the new wheels, but I needed new tires on our Envoy as well.

Otherwise I actually kinda like the OEM rims to be honest.

I used Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Spray:

http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detailpage.cfm?sku=g-121&store=meg

I thought it would be a foam, but was more like just a spary (reminded me of hair spray).

Man it so pained me to drive the E to work today.

OK seriously, with all the stuff you say looks so god awful, how could you imagine anything referring to that pic.

That thing looks terrible...poor Xterra.

Yuck!! Why? DX rims are nasty. They remind me of when a high schooler has a civic and wants to make it look "ricey....er racey" so they take off their hubs. I'm sorry anything looks better then DX rims. I don't think there are many that are going for that look. I know there are a couple on here that have painted their DX rims and that is the look they're going for. IMHO, EX alloys or aftermarket. And don't get me started on that nasty Xterra.

I worked with a guy that had a Xterra jacked up like that. About 2 months later the front suspension went out, not sure why, but the front end was almost on the ground. Looked like it had hydros.

Okay,, that wasn't the best Xterra as example.. the wheels were a bit too big.
I think the black steel rim look is very appropriate for the Element.. Guess it's all what look you're going for. Looks like you girls don't know any better. This is a better example:

And dont get me started on aftermarket rims. I've seen plenty of gay lookin' ones posted on this forum.

Black DX rims are one thing - I agree that they can look pretty good. Why bother showing us examples of vehicles which are obviously set up for off road use in a way that the Element couldn't possibly handle?

Man we've got the same taste ALMOST. My E's gonna look almost like that except the OEM wheels. They look too much like my Mom's Honda Accord rims.. they don't match the Element at all! JUST MY OPINION. I have to agree with Boogerg, the painted DX wheels would look hot if you're goin' for that rugged look. Anyway, your E's hot bro.. you get my vote for E of the month.

BTW, how are those tires riding?

To each his own. Jury seems to be split on white letters. If I was lowering it and going with bigger rims and lower tires liek some of you SoCal guys I would never do letters. Please realize the tires are LARGER and I do not particularly like larger wheels and smaller tires.

Get out of a GMC Envoy and its cooshy ride, then hop into a stock E on those POS tires and somewhat firm suspension.

Basically the new tires alone you dont feel the bumps nearly as much. Much smoother ride, and not near as harsh.

Just make sure the tread is not to squared at the top as that COULD make it closer and rub. Although by the design of your tires it does not seem as though that would happen.

You can thank PaulJ for teaching me that :)

Get out of a GMC Envoy and its cooshy ride ....

Now I see. My basis of comparison is different. I am not a fan of the "cooshy" (is that a combination of cushy and squishy?) rides of N. American vehicles. My last few rentals (Jeep Liberty, Pontiac Grand Prix, Chevy Blazer among them) made me realize how poorly these vehicles handle as a result of their soft suspensions.

I feel the same way, I have been looking all over for an example of this look and nothing, so Im doing it myself...
I picked up a set of these

A local 4by4 shop got them for me within 2 days, I think the choices are slim, because the offset on most steel wheels are geared torwards the Jeeps and such. These fit perfectly, and the tires are 235/70/16's with no rubbing, its close, but no worries...

And actually the rubbing isnt even that close ;-) I have checked on mine (since I have the same tires) and you have a good 3/4" clearenace bith above the wheel and behind the wheel on the strut.

I'm close to getting my Revos of the same size as yours. When you say that they don't rub at all, does that include when the E is confronted with a primitive road?

BTW - the Revos with the dark painted DX Steelies looks gnarly! I requested a photoshop idea of what the Revo's would look like on my CK with 1) black DX rims and 2) DX rims of the same CK color. I still haven't seen it. Anyone? Anyone?

Theoretically (PaulJ correct me if I am wrong) it wont make a difference. The strut tower is going to move with the wheel anyways...thus if there is no rubbing now there should be no rubbing then.

I think...
