: Ah very nice!
lwclancers 04-17-2005, 09:56 PM So nice to be clean with nice new tires and fogs for the week. Wax as You Dry worked good, but still left water spots bad....had to buff those out with a soft cloth which took some time. Oh and Sunflower oil + rag worked wonders on removing wax stains on the panels :)
lwclancers 04-17-2005, 09:57 PM Damn, my EOC sticker cant be seen too well.
Oh well, hey T-mAc, get those vinyl ones ready so we can order them!!!! :)
Very nice!
Although I voted "no" on the white letters yes or no thread, your pics have made me change my mind (at least for black Elements)!
booggerg 04-18-2005, 12:26 AM get DX wheels painted black.. it would make it look much better.
BIGRIG 04-18-2005, 07:20 AM I'm lovin the white letters!
Their on my short list
wankerklink 04-18-2005, 07:28 AM Lookin GOOOOD! I wonder how white letter tires would look on an SOP?
wankerklink 04-18-2005, 07:30 AM What brand tire black did you use on the tires?
Hondamade4dogs 04-18-2005, 07:50 AM It looks too good......its time to get it dirty!

Yup, thats my feeling too. A Black, white, gray, or silver colored vehicle looks better with white letters in my opinion.
Glad there is so much fanfare, it does look great. Maybe I can get me Element of the Month for May. I shall start the campaign :)
lwclancers 04-18-2005, 10:35 AM get DX wheels painted black.. it would make it look much better.
I was going to get some black or anhthracite rims with the new wheels, but I needed new tires on our Envoy as well.
Otherwise I actually kinda like the OEM rims to be honest.
lwclancers 04-18-2005, 10:36 AM What brand tire black did you use on the tires?
I used Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Spray:
http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detailpage.cfm?sku=g-121&store=meg
I thought it would be a foam, but was more like just a spary (reminded me of hair spray).
Man it so pained me to drive the E to work today.
booggerg 04-18-2005, 10:46 AM im actually imagining this kind of look

OK seriously, with all the stuff you say looks so god awful, how could you imagine anything referring to that pic.
That thing looks terrible...poor Xterra.
Get those bad thoughts out of your head booggerg!!!
SRLNCLT 04-18-2005, 01:38 PM get DX wheels painted black.. it would make it look much better.
Yuck!! Why? DX rims are nasty. They remind me of when a high schooler has a civic and wants to make it look "ricey....er racey" so they take off their hubs. I'm sorry anything looks better then DX rims. I don't think there are many that are going for that look. I know there are a couple on here that have painted their DX rims and that is the look they're going for. IMHO, EX alloys or aftermarket. And don't get me started on that nasty Xterra.
L.
SRLNCLT 04-18-2005, 01:39 PM I worked with a guy that had a Xterra jacked up like that. About 2 months later the front suspension went out, not sure why, but the front end was almost on the ground. Looked like it had hydros.

M1 1I 1K 1E 04-18-2005, 01:58 PM Otherwise I actually kinda like the OEM rims to be honest.
I agree! The only reason i'm considering new rims is for a bigger width
booggerg 04-18-2005, 03:35 PM Okay,, that wasn't the best Xterra as example.. the wheels were a bit too big.
I think the black steel rim look is very appropriate for the Element.. Guess it's all what look you're going for. Looks like you girls don't know any better. This is a better example:
And dont get me started on aftermarket rims. I've seen plenty of gay lookin' ones posted on this forum.

 You like trying to wind people up don't you booggerg?
Black DX rims are one thing - I agree that they can look pretty good. Why bother showing us examples of vehicles which are obviously set up for off road use in a way that the Element couldn't possibly handle?

because i couldn't find the examples of them on this forum.
And yes, I do like to throw a zinger into the mix once in a while.

Does anyone else think this Xterra looks like an Elephant with it's intake? Or maybe they coverted it to a diesel.

bigred1 04-18-2005, 04:56 PM The black E's do look nice when they're clean!!!!! Don't have all the accessories YET but they are coming!!!! Slowly but surely
SRLNCLT 04-18-2005, 05:15 PM Back to the original topic. Damn!!! Your E looks great with those tires!!! I don't tend to like white letters, my wife has them on her CRV big mistake. But those look sweet. I'm actually looking foward to next winter when I can get my new winter tires put on my aftermarket 16x7 rims. Congrats!!!

Thanks man! I am so happy with them right now. Look good and feel good going down the road. Not to mention the Meguiars Hot Tire Spray adds a pretty good hand :)

Well, I usually dont slam other peeps rides but i think you should use a Sharpie on those Tires. Otherwise nice ride.
m3th0d 04-18-2005, 11:05 PM Man we've got the same taste ALMOST. My E's gonna look almost like that except the OEM wheels. They look too much like my Mom's Honda Accord rims.. they don't match the Element at all! JUST MY OPINION. I have to agree with Boogerg, the painted DX wheels would look hot if you're goin' for that rugged look. Anyway, your E's hot bro.. you get my vote for E of the month.
BTW, how are those tires riding?
vegasbaby 04-19-2005, 09:00 AM So what size did you get finally? Those look bigger than mine.
lwclancers 04-19-2005, 09:34 AM Well, I usually dont slam other peeps rides but i think you should use a Sharpie on those Tires. Otherwise nice ride.
To each his own. Jury seems to be split on white letters. If I was lowering it and going with bigger rims and lower tires liek some of you SoCal guys I would never do letters. Please realize the tires are LARGER and I do not particularly like larger wheels and smaller tires.

Can someone inform me on the fascination with the DX steel rims (painted)? They remind me of flying saucers...so I dont see how they are so "cool"
lwclancers 04-19-2005, 09:37 AM So what size did you get finally? Those look bigger than mine.
They are 235/70/16
vegasbaby 04-19-2005, 12:33 PM Rats! I should've gotten the Toyo's in that size. They feel nice on the road?
lwclancers 04-19-2005, 01:02 PM They feel nice on the road?
Extremely! My wife even commented it did not feel like we were riding in a lowrider anymore :)
... My wife even commented it did not feel like we were riding in a lowrider anymore :)
Lowrider?!?!? I haven't found the ride quality anything to complain about and the E certainly isn't low to the ground
vegasbaby 04-19-2005, 01:11 PM I guess its time to put some more miles on mine to wear these tires out. That way I can go up one more size... Nice!
lwclancers 04-19-2005, 01:45 PM Lowrider?!?!? I haven't found the ride quality anything to complain about and the E certainly isn't low to the ground
Get out of a GMC Envoy and its cooshy ride, then hop into a stock E on those POS tires and somewhat firm suspension.
Basically the new tires alone you dont feel the bumps nearly as much. Much smoother ride, and not near as harsh.
lwclancers 04-19-2005, 01:46 PM I guess its time to put some more miles on mine to wear these tires out. That way I can go up one more size... Nice!
Just make sure the tread is not to squared at the top as that COULD make it closer and rub. Although by the design of your tires it does not seem as though that would happen.
You can thank PaulJ for teaching me that :)
Get out of a GMC Envoy and its cooshy ride ....
Now I see. My basis of comparison is different. I am not a fan of the "cooshy" (is that a combination of cushy and squishy?) rides of N. American vehicles. My last few rentals (Jeep Liberty, Pontiac Grand Prix, Chevy Blazer among them) made me realize how poorly these vehicles handle as a result of their soft suspensions.

I feel the same way, I have been looking all over for an example of this look and nothing, so Im doing it myself...
I picked up a set of these
http://www.pacerwheels.com/pacer2003/031.html
at the local 4*4 shop and am waiting on my Revo's. When its done I will post some pics. By the way way, the wheels only cost 69$ each.
booggerg 05-24-2005, 01:51 PM Nice looking rims! Finally someone with some smarts!
I don't see the bolt pattern matching the Honda's are you gonna use an adapter?
adverb 05-24-2005, 01:59 PM I was told they would fit perfectly, the backspacing is even right on...We will see, like I said Im waiting on tires so I havent had them put on yet, though its on the shops dime if they do not fit, so I am sure they checked first, hell I heard them ask the manufacture..!
lwclancers 05-24-2005, 03:58 PM Nice flying saucers you picked out!
booggerg 05-24-2005, 04:13 PM Better than most of them damn ricer rims out there..
But I guess a lot of ricers are now switching over to the crude black steel rims... i guess even some of them have the smarts..
dj se7en 05-24-2005, 08:56 PM I can sell you black steel wheels for $50 a piece through my work...
adverb 06-20-2005, 09:30 PM I finally got the $ to get my wheels, so here are those "flying saucers" ;) It is EXACTLY the look I was going for, and the pics don't even do it justice. So, if you don't want the Low Pro's on 4by4 look, here is another direction.

adverb 06-20-2005, 10:24 PM They came black...
http://www.pacerwheels.com/pacer2003/031.html
only 83$ each, and a guy up a couple post said he could get some cheaper. The pics really doesn't do it justice either, it looks like a completely diferent vehicle with WAY more testoserone...
http://www.laldesigns.com/Images/JewelryWeb/eLeeMentLG1.jpg
m3th0d 06-20-2005, 10:32 PM That looks great! I was gonna go exactly for that look but didn't know how they would look. Thanks for providing the pics!
BTW, did you have those wheels shipped?
adverb 06-20-2005, 10:41 PM A local 4by4 shop got them for me within 2 days, I think the choices are slim, because the offset on most steel wheels are geared torwards the Jeeps and such. These fit perfectly, and the tires are 235/70/16's with no rubbing, its close, but no worries...

And actually the rubbing isnt even that close ;-) I have checked on mine (since I have the same tires) and you have a good 3/4" clearenace bith above the wheel and behind the wheel on the strut.
Arch E Type 07-20-2005, 04:03 PM I'm close to getting my Revos of the same size as yours. When you say that they don't rub at all, does that include when the E is confronted with a primitive road?
BTW - the Revos with the dark painted DX Steelies looks gnarly! I requested a photoshop idea of what the Revo's would look like on my CK with 1) black DX rims and 2) DX rims of the same CK color. I still haven't seen it. Anyone? Anyone?
lwclancers 07-20-2005, 10:18 PM I'm close to getting my Revos of the same size as yours. When you say that they don't rub at all, does that include when the E is confronted with a primitive road?
Theoretically (PaulJ correct me if I am wrong) it wont make a difference. The strut tower is going to move with the wheel anyways...thus if there is no rubbing now there should be no rubbing then.
I think...
