Hey everyone.

I was rear-ended on Friday (not too bad, pretty low-speed accident; no one hurt and pretty much only the back bumper is visually disfigured) and I'm looking for some recommendations for a body shop. My wife took her Accord to some place up on 183 near Lamar (I think) and they did a good job, but I can't remember the name of the shop, but any recommendations would be appreciated!

Thanks.

If you have a receiver hitch, be sure to check the spare tire well for damage.

Good idea, trickyvick. I don't have a hitch, but I should still like to prove that that area hasn't been scrunched any.

Has anyone used (or heard of) Deckard & Haas Collision Center? That's where I'm thiking of going at this time, but I'm not 100% yet...

Okay. I've got the repair work done and I'm ready to report back on the job they did.

Ultimately, this may be a slightly skewed review, as pretty much every body shop in town was really busy due to the severe hail damage in the area recently. Most places I called gave me a 2-4 week wait before they could even get to my Element and they all seemed rather hectic and anxious on the phone.

Anyway, the guys at Anderson Lane Body Shop did a decent job, and they came in under budget. That's the good news.

The bad news is that the guy I was talking to gave me a few stories about how my rear bumper trim worked (at first he told me it was double-sided tape essentially). When I went to pick up my car (which, by the way, they called me at 4:45 pm on a Friday to tell me I had about 15 minutes to come get the car), the rear bumper trim was not applied properly. When I brought the guy out to look at it, he said that it was fine and that it wasn't double-sided tape, but a post-and-insert deal (insert post A into tab B sort of thing), which I knew was incorrect, but he insisted. I just pushed down on the trim, which seemed to reapply it. He also told me it was a brand new trim (another lie), but I didn't call him on it at the time.

Fast forward to now, where the rear bumper trim is coming off again. I'm thinking about calling them up and having them deal with it (although I don't want to lose my car for x-amount of hours). However it's only $48 from H&A and it looks like an incredibly easy thing to install, so I just may do it myself. I'm just a little frothed at the fact that they should have done it right the first time and that I shouldn't have to do this at all....

Anyway, to sum up: Decent job on the repair work, under budget (which allows me to pocket a few bucks from the insurance company), but I have to fix part of the repair myself (thus taking $50 out of my pocket).
