: What's this button on the speedometer?

There's a button on the left side of the speedometer with a little diagram of a guage below it. The manual explains the "trip/reset" button on the right side of the speedometer, but I can't seem to find a reference to the other button. What's it do?

It changes the brightness on the gauge

Okay I am feeling a little stupid....I never even noticed this knob! I have had my E for just over 3 weeks and I just went out to my car to make sure this knob was there!

Yeah, and I'm feeling stupid too... all I had to do was push the button to figure out what it was. :) Guess I was afraid that it was some secret ejector seat button or something. Hehe...

p.s. Number of times I've been asked about my E at gas stations in 2 weeks: 3

How many times have you been at the gas station? If it's 3 times, then there is a direct correlation between getting gas and being asked about the "E".

Haha yeah... I've gotten gas 3 times now (in 2 weeks... only have about 560 miles on the car) and been asked about the car once per visit. Twice by patrons ("wow... reminds me of my old Woody"), and once by the attendant, who said he'd sat in an E at the auto show and was really intrigued.

In two weeks I've gotten gas three times and been asked about it each time. I also get asked about it in parking lots. One woman yesterday even asked if she could look inside it. But I'm forever getting asked 'What is that thing?' and 'Who makes it?' and 'Is that a real car?!'.

No, it's fake. I just like to stop and fill it with gas at $1.70 or more a gallon because I'm so rich that I'm insane. :)

Heh...

I watched out my kitchen window as a jogger went past my house, then stopped (jogging in place), backed up 30 feet, jogged sideways into my droveway and then three times around my E (slowly) before heading back into the street and up the road.

You don't see that every day.

I was up on my roof painting the wood base to a weather vain as a couple walked by and stopped to look at the E. They then noticed me on the roof and started asking a bunch of questions about it. Nothing like yelling down from the roof about your car! Then about 4 weeks after I bought my E and showed it to my neighbors they bought one.

Thanks for this thread! When my salesman told me that you couldn't adjust the intensity of the dash lighting, I was able to tell him that yes, you could...there's a small button somewhere... :D
