: Interior cleaning / protection
I know there is a dozen or so threads on this. Hell I have read almsot all of them.
Very few mentions on the F21 Turtle Wax interior cleaner/protectrant.
Also very few mentions on the Mother Back to Black or Mequirers.
I was using the infamous AA Cleaning wipes. Wife bought them for me so I have been using them up.
I just picked up some F21 and plan to start using it. Curious though why no-one else makes and intertior cleaning/protector in a wipe??
I have using spray stuff because you 1) get it on stuff you did not mean too (windows, gauges, etc...) or 2) End up streaking it because you can not get a good coverage spraying a towel first.
Anyone else F21?
Anyone have some good pointers for using spray type cleaners?
lwclancers 04-27-2005, 10:40 PM Since everytime I go to the store they are out of the Meguiars wipes and spray I grabbed some F21 too, but havent used it yet.
This is what I keep trying to get but its always sold out:
http://www.meguiars.com/estore/product_detailpage.cfm?sku=g-136&store=meg
These are the wipes:
http://www.meguiars.com/estore/product_detailpage.cfm?product=Gold-Class-All-Purpose-Cleaning-Wipes&sku=G-117
Or these wipes:
http://www.meguiars.com/estore/product_detailpage.cfm?product=Gold-Class-Protectant-Wipes&sku=G-115
I could spend alot of money from Meguiars website :)
The place I went to (Autozone) had the Meguiars spray for like $5.
I have never seen the Mequiars wipes or I would hav got them for sure.
The F21 I got is a little spray bottle, only $2 and is more like I sample.
I leaned towards it because of the 3 the store had this was the only one that seem to make a lot of comment on its sun protection.
I still have a new bottle of Mothers for the exterior I have yet to try.
I really like the Eagle 1 stuff.
I also picked up some Eagle 1 Wet Tire foam.
Something is seriously wrong me, I actually get a kick out of cleaning my E.
lwclancers 04-27-2005, 11:04 PM Yea I got the same sample bottle. Just go Autozone around here too...they must all carry the same thing. I think I am just going to make a fat order from the Meguiars website :)
I recommend the Meguiars Hote Shine Tire Spray...works awesome (here is is again, ya know as if I havent posted this enough as is):
biocube 04-28-2005, 12:54 PM i just use the same 303 that i use on the outside, sprayed onto a rag, do do the interior.
Meguiars, all the way.
The first day I used the interior detailer (the product that lwclancers mentions above) and thought to myself "this stuff is just as greasy as Armor All". It smelled better, but when I got done wiping my dash down everything felt greasy and too shiny. I was a little disappointed.
But.
The next day I came out to my car and either that had sunk in or the greasiness evaporated because the interior was GLEAMING clean. There was no hint of left-over residue like Armor All leaves and plus Meguiars smells like a new tennis shoe (which is good).
I use this stuff on the interior once a weekend (obsessed) and my dash looks brand new - no grease, no dust, no build up, no greasy chemical shine.
Meguiars has me hooked for life now. I just can't be more impressed with this stuff. Initially applying it I had my doubts, but after only one day the difference was insane.
I used it on my exterior panels (not the same product, but a Megiuars interior/exterior plastic cleaner/conditioner) last weekend and it's been raining ever since - no streaks. The panels are darker and much more healthier looking (but not greasy...fantastic).
Can't say enough about it.
lwclancers 04-28-2005, 08:27 PM SWEET, thanks Sier. I guess it was good I found a different Adavnced AUto that actually had that Meguiars interior spray in stock, and brought it home this evening. Probably wont get to it this weekend, but I will soon :)
Im still thinking about getting the wipes, and well, a bunch of other things on their site.
Well I used the F21 for the first time last weekend. Interior stills looks great and doe snot have any greasy slimy feel to it like the AA did.
Stuff is great. I also used it on some of the plastic panels in the engine bay.
MavRick 05-16-2005, 10:48 AM Does the Maguiar's put film on your glass with evaporation, like AA does?
HandA 05-16-2005, 05:18 PM Does the Maguiar's put film on your glass with evaporation, like AA does?
the 303 stuff doesn't leave the film on the windows near as bad as most others I've tried.
geekysteve 05-16-2005, 10:11 PM i just use the same 303 that i use on the outside, sprayed onto a rag, do do the interior.
Winner!
Again (and I hate to sound like a broken record), but avoid using solvent-based products on your tires and interior pieces. Especially the interior pieces.... why? The same solvents that leech additives from your tires leech additives from your dashboard. Ever known someone who had a car from the 80's or 90's and they complained that after they used __________ their dash cracked?
Guess what... the dressings from that era had a fair amount of DMS (dimethylsilicone) and solvents. Together, they effectively displaced any of the flex agents in the dash board and left behind their own oils/solvents. Once the driver/owner/user stoped using _______, the dash literally fell apart because the DMS/solvent that had pushed out the additives was now gone, and there was nothing left to provide "flex" for the dash. People's interiors literally became DMS/solvent junkies.
So, please... don't use solvent-based products on your dashboard or tires. If you think I'm being overly paranoid, call Honda, or Michelin, or Goodyear, or Bridgestone, or whomever, and ask them if you should use a solvent-based dressing on your interior or tires. And when they tell you "no," ask them why...
Just my $0.02...
treetopflyer 06-05-2005, 01:12 PM So, geekysteve, what do you use on your interior and plastic/rubber panels?
vegasbaby 06-27-2005, 04:36 PM Anybody heard of using Lexol on your interior and dash? That was the recommendation awhile back here on the forums. It works for me. Iuse the leather stuff. Some people like the Vinylex. Hey whatever works.
adreed24 06-28-2005, 12:40 AM I have heard that the interior plastic of the E can be sensitive to certain chemicals. I read about the "Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer" on the Meguiar's website, and here on this site.
I was wondering how safe the "Interior Detailer" is on the dash, door panels, and other plastic surfaces inside the Element?
wankerklink 06-28-2005, 07:19 AM So, geekysteve, what do you use on your interior and plastic/rubber panels?
So please answer the question.
paulj 06-28-2005, 12:07 PM Why did you quote a 303 testimonial as preface to your warning about solvent based cleaners? It is not solvent based, as far as I can tell. The 303 'tech facts volume 1' says it contains no petrochemicals or silicone oils nor does it remove protective waxes. (www.303products.com)
For what it is worth, 303 is recommended by dry suit manufacturers such as Kokotat for protecting the latex gaskets on their suits.

Irishman 06-28-2005, 11:35 PM I've used Meguiars for yrs, a bunch of them in San Diego. Lotsa uv light. I've never seen any problems. I've been using their #40 rubber and vinyl protectant on my Element-particulary the front plastics 'skirts'. Couldn't be happier.
Their website used to have a Rx section. They will individually recommend products and frequency of wax, etc based on your area.
I love advice on acid rain-living as I do, in Portland, OR.
prior8t2000 06-30-2005, 06:17 PM I use 303products their just great on all the plastic.
Only for the fact I want it to last long and look great.
Meguiar's products work just fine and there a good company. I use there product for my tires.
Snarf77 07-05-2005, 11:47 AM Anybody heard of using Lexol on your interior and dash? That was the recommendation awhile back here on the forums. It works for me. Iuse the leather stuff. Some people like the Vinylex. Hey whatever works.
You use the leather cleaner/conditioner? I ask because I have some left in the basement from when I had leather seats in a volvo and I'd love to get rid of it!
vegasbaby 07-05-2005, 11:49 AM Yep. Its been posted in these forums before. I use it about every other month. Keeps it clean and protects.
gfxguy 07-05-2005, 02:11 PM I used the Meguires wipes on my 4 year old Odyssey a couple of months ago... made it look like new and it's still looks that way after 2 months. Used them on the Element, but the Element was so clean and new it barely made a difference.
303 user here. Its a great product and doesn't attract dust on the dash.
