I was out on my sales rounds today in a town just north of here along the Fox River. Down this little side road along the river was three cars and a police car pulled over. I stoped, and they all pointed out to this island about 100 yards out. Out on the island was a Sieberian Husky just howlling up a storm. Well, I grew up in this town (Carpentersville) and I knew that the river is only about three feet deep if you stay on the gravel bar. Just put the E in low, got a little running start, and drove on out, picked up the dog, and drove back. Those goofs just couldn't believe it!
Well, about that time the Fire Chief John pulled up. I grew up with John, we said our hellos, he said "thanks", and I asked if I could use a fire hose to clean out the E. He said "sure", so all ended up well, the E justas good as new.

Post your story here and maybe the moderator won't whisk you off to the Stallag! Your story about towing all those big bad 4 x4s was funny!

right.........................

you used a "fire-hose" to clean out the inside of your E.

Not only would you fry all the interior electronics, but the water pressure alone from a firehose is in the neighborhood of 150psi -300psi depending on if you grabbed the 1-1/2" hose or 3" hose.
Needless to say it takes more than 1 person to hold it steady, there is no "turn in on a little" with fire valves and lastly you would have blown every window out of the E along with the Dirt.

And thats even if you think I buy the story of you driving through 3 feet of water :D

Nice story though, make a good commercial.

Three feet of water? Your exhaust pipe would definitely be underwater, and most likely the intake would gulp water and hydro lock the engine...

Did I miss something tonight? Is it "make up absurd off road stories night"?

Maybe this weekend I'll take my E over to Shelter Island without taking the ferry...yeah, that'll save me the $14 round trip fee...

=trying to see the humor here IRV...is this in response to Element4life's post?...you're so silly=

he forgot to mention that temperatures were below 0F and commuters were skating up the Chicago River to Michigan Ave :)

By the way, did this occur in the Elgin IL part of the river, or further upstream near Waukesha WI?

This happened in the Illinois section.

Other midwest news yesterday: A 400lb black bear was sighted near Waukesha and captured in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee, WI not Milwaukie, OR :)

Well, the bear was 155lbs and in Wauwatso. But why let facts get in the way of a story?

You will have to tell the story again! The rookie moderator sent you to the void.

This place seems to be troll central lately...first post with a story that reeked of BS...I would have removed it as well.

Its the guys from the off roading site. They are stupid enough to compare the E to conventional off road vehicles. They dont know that some of us own those chevy's, fords and dodges but we are much more sensible to drive the E for work or just to economize. AWD is good for traction and safety. We just dont have to do anything to activate it.

Ignorance and stupidity should be painful.

The story is dumb. He could have just used the bridge I bought and kept his E dry.

Man, I just get hated on. I tried to tell a simple story and I guess no one appreciated my superior skill. Come on man, what kind of forum is this! :( And BTW, it wasn't my first post. So, people, tell me, what kind of other trucks do you guys own/drive other than your wicked awesome E's? Fords with 265 all terrains as your bad ass offroader? Ram 1500 Hemi with rugged trail A/ts? Chevy 1500 with a 4.7L vortec and goodyears? I bet. You guys are NASTY!! If I told ya'll what I drove you'd crap your pants.

Probably something that your mommy and daddy bought you.

Chevy 1500 comes with a 4.8L not a 4.7L . Again, stupidity should be painful.

I have a YJ sittin' on 33s that will soon be on 38's. Under the hood is a bowtie 350.

I enjoy offroading my E much more than my jeep. I feel so much more in control, not to mention the better gas mileage. I guess I just need to get rid of the YJ because I feel that my E is far more superior to it.
