What's the informed opinion on transmission coolers and Elements on trailers at or near the maximum towing weight?
I'm looking at a Taos popup which will be right around 1500# with a moderate load of the usual camping paraphanalia.

You may want to check this thread here (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13034&highlight=transmission+cooler)... Having an additional trans cooler certainly wouldn't hurt if you use your E primarily as a towing vehicle for the Taos popup you're looking at.

As soon as I get the time Im going to install the cooler in my E. I do a massive amount of driving both freeway and in the city. I have over 9000 miles on my E that I purchased in february. Needless to say, it will start to take a toll on my trany.
I would get a grill to protect the cooler. Its a good thing to at that time because you will have to take the front panneling off to install the cooler. I would attach it to the front of the radiator. Keep in mind that there is not much space in there and who ever is doing it has to know what they are doing. its a simple thing to do but, a very sensitive thing also. You dont want to have any leaks.
