Is this really for the element??
Last time I checked my E, I didn't have electric rear windows, or sunroof option :)

It's for Hondas in general.

just kidding Emass, I was waiting for this so I could put in a remote starter. In the intructions it was talking of tach wires and other wires I would not know where to look for. I think there only a couple missing I will have to find out, but this is a good start...Thanks Emass

EMASS,

I am installing Infinity Reference speakers (components up front, coax in back [6.5"]). Following your wiring information below regarding the stock speaker wire colors, am I correct in believing that the first wire color noted for each speaker is the negative (-) lead, (eg. pink is the negative for the RR speaker)?

Additionally, is the stock system using crossovers to pass only mid/high frequencies to the doors or are they receiving the full signal? I just want to confirm that since I am intending on connecting the stock leads on the existing door speaker to the Infinity crossover and splitting thereafter to the new tweeter and door speaker.

I appreciate your help and all the information you have already provided this forum.

Thanks,
mprystauk

thanks for the wire-color info. by any chance do you know where to tap into a reverse indicator (on a manual transmission)? I'd rather not tap into the white back-up lamps (they are so far back there)

I dont know how useful this is, why is negative and postive not listed on the speaker wires, etc?

I'm having some issues with my alarm install. it's a 2004 E without any factory security.

#1: For parking lights, I can use + red/black at the driver kick panel. I can't find this wire. Which harness should I find it on

#2: For door trigger, I found the green harness. But since I don't have any factory security, this harness is just dangling. Should I still tap into the wires there?

#3: For the door trigger, I think DEI is wrong for the passenger side. I found a gray/black wire, not a green/black. Should I go for gray/black?

Thanx everybody!

Jae

Probably to keep the average joe from messin' with the factory wiring. If applicable, I would HIGHLY recommend that you not hack into the factory wiring, else you might void the electrical warranty. If you are putting in an aftermarket stereo, any reputable stereo house will sell you an adapter for about 10 bucks that plugs into your factory plug at one end, and has (clearly marked) wires at the other end. Likewise, there are adapters for the speaker connection as well so you don't have to hack that end. Well worth the investment if someday you ever sell your "E" and want to return everything to original factory condition. This is ESPECIALLY important if you are LEASING your vehicle!

Sorry to ressurect a dead thread, but after searching, this thread seemed the most appropriate.

I have read about the 05's using shared wires for different purposes (in the trailer threads), does this affect these color codes? I've peeked under the dash and found a few, but haven't put my multimeter to it yet. I was an installer for years, so I'm comfortable with handling the wiring and the airbags, but this was prior to the new shared wiring - around 9 years ago.

After installing the alarm and stereo on my last vehicle (01 Silverado), this reminds me why I enjoyed working on Hondas, Toys and Nissans. Everything is clean and easy to identify under the dash. Also the components come apart and go back together as they should.

Thanks in advance.
