I ordered this Panasonic flip down DVD with SD memory card slot and wireless earphones from Crutchfield back in March (got the very last one at an amazing price of $699), but just didn't have the stone to cut the headliner and everything myself. So I took it to the shop who put dual headrest monitors and dvd player in my Envoy a few years back.

This unit is extremely thin for an all in one unit, includes a dome light replacement, has 2 wireless headphone, creditcard size remote, and the SD slot is perfect since all my other devices use SD. It has AV ports on the back of the unit for say a video game console, master power switch on the back, and what I really like is the blue illumination around the top edge (only visible to rear seat passangers...love that as it matches the lights I put in under my dash.

The shop hardwired it to the radio using an FM modulator...he put a tiny switch under the left side dash so I can flip it on or off when we want it on surround sound/radio.

Just thought I'd share this

Im not too educated on electronics, could you go into more detail about how they wired it into your cars system

Pretty groovy.... I like the blue lights around the rim of it.

Shame it didn't come in a light grey though.... would have matched the roof better.

Nice...I like the way the screen swivels...the blue accent lights are cool as well.

I did not go into too great of detail with the guy. There is an audio out from the unit itself. He ran an RCA from there to an FM modulator, then ran that to the radio. When you flip the switch on the modulator it sends the audio to the stereo using one of the FM frequencies (for me it was 89.1). Having it hardwired prevents any static as opposed to a wireess FM modulator.

I hope that helps...a little anyways.

You will be hard pressed to find an overheard unit in a light grey. There were some I found that were a dark grey but they were 2 to 3 times thicker which looked like crap.

This was one of the thinest all in one models I found, if not the thinest.

And its actually not that bad because so much of the interior is black anyways.

Oh, I should add, those red looking lights really dont show so much...thats just the infrared for the headphones :)

Just like the IR LED in a remote control, you generally only "see" the light emitted from them when viewing them through a digital camera.

How often do you think you'll use the unit? Is it for rear seat passengers, or will you rent a movie, and have a night out with your lady?

That would be Blade Trinity.

Usually I drive, so my wife can use it when we go on trips. But we have a baby on the way so for awhile it will be lots of Baby Einstein, thus the desire to hook it to the radio...not like those headphones will fit right away :) In a few years they can see it more.

In laws are about 3 hours away, so with the wife and baby back there either can watch movies on the way down to visit.
