I would like to know how you handle bathing/laundry on extended E camping trips?

As for bathing, we use campground showers when available. Private ones always have showers. Most state parks do also. Same for the larger British Columbia provincial parks. But many forest service ones don't (US and BC). If showers aren't available, a selective use of a wet-wipe takes care of the areas that cleaning most.

Laundry is usually done on the occasional motel stop, though some private campgrounds have machines. Some trips we also stop by family or friends.

The frequency of such stops can vary widely. Last fall's loop through the American SW, included 6 nights in motels or with friends, in part because the route included some long stretches of freeway. Last summer's trip into some remote parts of BC didn't include any motel stops, though we did spend 4 days at private campground with good facilities (and well spaced sites). On our longest trip, 3 months some years ago to Alaska, about 2/3 of the nights were camping, the others inside in some fashion or other.

Wal Mart sells a camp shower for about $8. It's a big bag with a tube and an on/off spray nozzle. The bag is black on one side and clear on the other.

You fill it, then sit it in the sun for an hour or two, and it heats the water up to a comfortable temperature. I use it. It works.

As for laundry, on any extended camping trip you're bound to pass through some town with a laundromat on your way to the campground, or when you change campgrounds. Carry a week's worth of clothes with you, and you should have no problem stumbling across a wash facility before you run out of clean clothes.

If you plan to stay at a motel at any time during the trip, Motel 6 usually has a washer/dryer near the vending machines.
