I just bought a used Element and want to return to the stock head unit. I'm looking for one with XM. Any ideas?

What year is the Element you bought? Only the '05 EX model came with an stock XM head unit. If you're looking to add XM, and you don't have an '05, you're better off finding an aftermarket head unit that is XM ready. The stock head unit also needs the XM receiver which I believe is located behind the plastic panel in the right rear section of the cargo area. An aftermarket XM head unit would definitely be more cost effective.

Are you sure the looks are worth the added 2.5x cost? Stock units easily run over $500 and not to mention you'd have to add all the XM wiring since your E does not already have it.

No, I'm not willing to pay as much as that, though I knew that would be the figure if I bought it from the dealership. I'm hoping to find one someone doesn't want because they are swapping it out for a different head unit. I'd be willing to pay a fair price. Any ideas?

If you really want a factory Honda XM HU, keep an eye on Ebay...this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7975357171&category=43947&sspagename=WDVW) recently sold for $260...although you'll still need the antenna and related wiring.

If you want a stock 270 EX system you will also need the amp and sub as well which is supposed to be mounted behind the passenger kick panel.

Thank you. The sub is already installed. I'm assuming the amp is there as well, although there is a pioneer deck installed and the amp is probably not being used. Haven't checked yet. Not sure how to.
