took the E in for a 10000 mile service last week.

i mentioned to the shop that i keep hearing a rubbing sound coming from the rear passenger side wheels when coming to a stop?

Anyways they said the brakes were worn, so they replaced them for free under warranty, which was awesome ;)

Anways it still makes the noise sometimes, wondering what else the problem could be, i know there are probably some posts about it, i will have to search.

Getting ready to take mine in for the 10,000 mile service- how much did you pay?

Wait a sec. They replaced your brakes under warranty? Isn't that considered normal wear-and-tear?

Could be your parking/emergency brakes that are dragging. The E has a seperate set of brakes inside the rotor for that. Try pulling the parking/emergency brake up as far as you can and releasing it... maybe that will reset it or something.

I'm only 1,300 miles away from the big 10K.

I'd like to know what they charged you and exactly what they did at 10K miles; other than what's on the schedule.

i have posted several times about the problems i have had and still have with my rear brakes. In making a long story short, my rear brakes and rotors were replaced at 29,000 miles and were covered by the dealer. Still had the noise afterwards. At around 44000 miles i brought it back to the dealer cuz the noise was getting louder and they blamed it on the pads wearing unevenly. They wouldnt cover them this time cuz the rotors were damaged. I am going to have them fixed when they are completly gone and done by my own mechanic. I asked about the E brake and they said it was fine. Not sure what the problem is but hopefully when i get the complete rear brakes done we find what is causing the noise.

From what I've been told by my dealer its around $125 or so for the 10K service. If you do a search on this through the board, you'll see that this "10K mile service" is a sham. Better off just having your tires rotated and oil changed if its needed. The rest of the "service" includes topping off fluids which they should be doing anyway at any service, "checking brakes" <physical check only> which should be done as well, etc. It's only bout $30 for the rotation and another 20 for the oil change, save yourself some $ and avoid it.

Good advice, I think I'll do that. I've called about 5 different dealerships and gotten a price range of $115 - $130 at each place. Seemed like a shame to me too...

It's even worse if they try to charge you seperately for a brake check when you're having a tire rotation done. The tires are already off the car, checking the brakes should be free!

The hardest part of a visual inspection of the brakes is probably taking the tires off. Here is something. Next time you go in, at 10,000 or 20,000 or 30,000 miles, ask to have a brake inspection. Then say, while you have the tires off, rotate them please.

Brown's Honda Baltimore, MD (Glen Burnie, actually) $77 (last week). They may have given me their "regular customer & good guy 10% off," but I forgot to ask for it. I waited for the car for about 90 minutes.
Oil & filter change
Rotate front to back (or back to front, I forget  ) tires
Check other fluids

Also I had a waranty issue. Driver's side headlight was aimed a bit low.

I'm biased towards Brown's Service Department. They kept my 95' Accord running w/o problem for over 240,000 miles (10 years.) I'm easy on a car (the Accord was still on the first clutch), but I always felt that they took good care of me & my car. I bought that Accord there, and bought the E (same salesman--Ken King) there largely because of my experience with the dealership over the ten year period.
If you're in the neighborhood, they are worth a try. IMHO

Can't order online, but they are carried by many dealers and shops. I've never heard of them before. Snake oil?

Well, glad I didn't go to the dealer then! Just went in to NTB this afternoon, got to watch part of the Bears game, and was out the door for about $30 w/ the oil change and tire rotation.

The typical factory service I get would've run about $55 for the 10K mile service. I had it done at Marysville Honda ( 11 month old dealership who is buillding their customer base up), out the door for $38. Dropped the E off, went and had lunch with the wife. As we were leaving from lunch they called me on the cell phone and had it done. Bought my E from them, very happy.
