Now let me start this off by saying that I have no clue about anything when it comes to audio, so if this is a dumb idea don't be too harsh on me. That said, I have an LX which has no sub in it, and I need all the extra space in the E that I can get so I can't put a sub back there. The stealthbox is nice, but I just don't know that I would need that kind of power, etc...
So my idea was, why can't I use say, a computer or home audio sub-woofer in the E? Many of those sub-speakers are rather small and I would imagine that it wouldn't take too much work to fashion something similar to the looks of the stock EX sub into that area. Is this feasible, or are there big-electronic-related-words that prevent this that I have no idea about?
Just curious, because if this is possible without too much work or cash, I don't see why I can't pick up a good-used component system and just use the sub.
Any thoughts or ideas?

the only problem i think you may have is power. i dont think your factory HU will run the sub enough to make it worth anything. now, if maybe you also bought a little amp to go with it, then yes, i dont see any problem with doing that. but how big of a sub are we talking about?? if i were you, id go out and get a powered Bazooka bass tube, especially if space is your main concern. but to answer your question, yes, i believe it is possible. however, i think youre gonna some sort of small amplifier to power it, because your factory head unit wont do the trick.

Yeah I'd say it might be easier to go with a small powered sub also. Most only take about 3 or 4 wires to hook up. 2 power wires, ground and your RCAs or speaker wires. They are small and have an amp built right in. Here are 2 from Crutchfield that would probably even fit under the rear seats and maybe even the front seats.

Hey Phoenix,
Don't computer speakers that have satellites and a sub need ac power? I think it would work but there would be a lot of noise coming from the ac converter that you'd use to power the speakers.
Go with a powered sub that's definitely the easiest way.
Thx, Phil

I saw the topic heading and was hoping to see something like smoked trout, cucumber mint yogurt dressing and grilled vegetables stuffed in a hollowed out baguette. Oh well.

Thanks for all of the input. Like I said it was just a quick idea and I wasn't sure if it would work or not, or even if it would if I would just be better off doing something else. I hadn't seen those small powered subs before, so I just might give that a look - thanks for the suggestion.
I just love the space and quasi-ruggedness of the E, and I just didn't want to sacrafice that by putting a sub in the back. Speaking of which, I gotta sell my sub and amp from my old accord still, its just been sitting in my room for 8 months...
Thanks again for the suggestions - and as for the Quizno's-Sub, I say put a few led's on the side... thats at least 20 extra ponies right there... ;)
