I bought this indoor/outdoor "runway" carpet from Home Depot for $1.69 a foot. Comes is a 27" width and is easy to cut.

It matches the dark grey interior nicely. I am going to re-cut these to better fit some of the round edges. You can make your own carpets for $20. Carpets have a no slip pad underneath them. I plan on attaching the front mats with velcro.

Looks nice!

I simply got a few rolls of rubber shelf liner that I put down when I've got things that might slide around in the car. Other than that, I like not having carpet to dirty. Might get an all-weather mat for the driver's side when it gets wintry out here... don't want to have my snowy feel running water all over the floor!

Got the same carpet from Walmart for $7 and covered my DYI armrest with it as well as the front floor. But I split mine....think I like the way our friend here did it in one strip!

I messed up a few cuts but since the front piece cost only about $5 I can always make another one. I am going to wait for this one to get trashed and then I will use it as a template.

I like it! I was thinking about the same material then using spray adhesive to attach the shelf liner stuff to the back. I have been considering some "wet suit" type of material as well.
When I was visiting a friend out west I spoke with a lady who flipped her semi upscale floor mats to make a floor covering that withstood the family and could be beaten and flipped back for special occasions I thought that was novel... her toyota 4 runner... 03 looked more like an Element than ever !!!! I may be up at Waly World this afternoon... if for no other reason but for the ride....
