I just got a tunsten T5 palm pilot and was wondering if anyone here had any pictures of their palm's mounted and being used for GPS....I did a search and saw a very minimal amount of people going with this method, with no pictures. So if anyone has a PDA mounted in their element, please post pics here! thanks!

I use a NavMan PIN with a suction cup mount form Arkon. I'll post pics later.

Try the Bracketron Freeway PDA combo (search the forum). I use it with my iPod--at the time it was the only decent iPod mount that worked well with silicone skins. In addition, it also works great with my iPaq phone/PDA which is about the size of your spiffy T5.

geoduck:
I found some of your past posts on the bracketron, it looks good-clean and out of the way

vagasbaby:
most of the pda/gps type holders i've seen have been the suction cup kind, i'm interested in seeing how this looks on the element since our windshield tends to be further away and more verticle than most car windshields, can't wait to see the pics!

TomTom makes a gps unit called TomTom Navigator 5 (http://www.tomtom.com/products/category.php?ID=1&Language=4) that can be used with the Tungsten T5. You can order one from shipdog.com for $270.
Plus you can use ProClips (http://www.proclipusa.com/default.asp) for mounting the thing.

thanks MTP! I've heard TomTom is a great company for GPS and i'll more than likely go this route! I'm still looking into mounts tho, proclip seems like the best choice since it is easily removable, but i've yet to see a suction cup mount in an element

Would like to hear your "review" of the T5 and TTG5 GPS.
I am looking into getting one and right now I am heavily leaning towards the TTG300. However, having a nice Palm PDA again would be sweet as well.

I'll probably be buying by the end of the summer, the site you gave me said "available soon". how soon? not sure, lol, but as soon as it becomes available to me I will be purchasing!

Go to Shipdog (http://www.shipdog.com) and look under the Vehicle GPS section. They list it as $270 and it lets you order it. I would assume if they let you put it in the "cart" than they mudt have some in stock.
The actual TomTom website seems a little slow as they also show things like the external antenna and extra power adapters for the TTG300 as "Coming Soon, Yet I have found numerous places that already have them.

I'd call shipdog if I were you. Not pushing shipdog, I have never used them (yet :)) but I did some searching and they seem to have the best prices on the actual units. I found the external antenna and power cord cheaper at TigerGPS (http://www.tigergps.com) .

thanks MTP, i looked on the online retailers that tomtom had listed and hadn't made it to shipdog yet, but it looks good, perhaps the GPS will be coming sooner than i thought!

and take your time vagasbaby, whenever you have a chance! thanks!

EDIT: MTP--couldn't find the GPS on shipdog...more specific link?

Looks like they pulled it since yesterday. It is missing now.

Sorry, maybe they didn't have any or are out of stock now.

I hit there once a day because the price of the TTG300 keeps changing.
One day it is $520, next $542, today it is $538.
If it drops back to $520 I might switch to PB&J for lunch for awhile and order it :)

Here found it at TigerGPS (http://www.tigergps.com/tonablgpsfor.html) for $292.23.
Either it seels like hotcakes or Shipdog did not have a lot in stock when I saw it.

So how do you like the T5? I had (have somewhere) a M505 and M515. Did a complete custom software change of the firmware in the M515. Removed tons of stuff I would never use and added several things I did to the firmware chip. Made them run faster. It just got to the point where it became more of a toy than a needed device...you know what I mean?

I like the T5 alot, granted i've never owned a PDA before, it seems to perform well and do everything I need it to do.(keep appointments, open word, excel, and powerpoint documents, take memos) It doesn't have built in wi-fi which is kind of lame; however, it is very slim because of that, and the wi-fi card is only 80 bucks after 20% rebate for registering the product. Also, I think if I shopped around the wi-fi would be even cheaper and definately has the potential to go down in price.

thanks vagas baby, it doesn't look too bad...i like the proclip mount a little more but they seem awfully expensive for what you are getting, thats the only thing that is keeping me back, but i'll keep you guys posted on what i decide and the final outcome! thanks again for those pics, it really helped!

Well I ordered the TomTom Bluetooth for my Tungsten today as well as the Proclip mounting system, I got the TomTom from TigerGPS for 255...the price went down a lot so I had to grab it while it was still hot seeing as how the price for this thing has gone up and down for awhile. I will post pics and write a review as soon as I get it and try her out!
