For those of you who have XM or Sirius radios. Did any of you mount the antenna on the dash instead of routing it to the outside of the car? I am too lazy to route it outside. I was wonder if there are any problems with the reception by mounting it inside the car. Any input is appreciated.

I had my XM antenna on my dash in my old pickup. I found with the E that the windshield is too vertical to get good reception, so the antenna went on the roof.
I recommend the roof. With the antenna on the dash, anytime the metal roof is between the antenna and the view of the satellites, you will lose reception.

It takes a hole 20 minutes to put it on the roof and hide the wires.
You must be a busy man.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess that I am not too lazy....I don't want to take the panels off and risk breaking something. Maybe I will have to suck it up and put it on the roof.

Hey man if you want to, you can put it on the back part of the roof near the existing antenna then run the wires down the seal of the back hatch, then into the spare tire place then you can push the wire underneath the plastic on the inside. When you get to the front run it behind the passenger seat and then up the middle between the seats if you need pics just ask. I have sirius and i did it myself and it was simple

I put my XM antennae next to the FM one, then ran the wire all the way to the windshield by placing it in the water channel. (Or whatever that is called between the plastic and the metal.)
I then lifted up on the corner of the plastic (against the windshield) and placed the edge of the antennae in it to hold it nice and taut. Then, I ran the wire down into the passenger's door (where it hinges). I duct-taped all of the extra wire (those antennaes are ridiculously long) underneath the glove compartment.
Took me 10 minutes, tops.

Call me lazy too.
I rolled my XM antenna slack up into the glove compartment, and down under the the dash panel to the passenger door, and up the passenger door strip, and put the antenna on the front roof where the windshield meets the roof above the passeneger dash.
People get in and out, and really do not notice it.
I did it for a quick hookup when I got my radio, and never had the need to change it.

Not that lazy, just make sure its on the roof, front or back, it doesnt matter. I put mine on the front of the Element too. All your looking for is that 6" of ground plane that you cant get from a plastic/rubber dash. :)
