: Zaino Claybar sucks!

I got my stuff from Zaino and decided to wax my E this weekend. I followed the directions of mixing the Z-7. It started crumbling and turning to mush. I went thru both of the bars. I just e-mailed them to complain. I am hoping it was just a bad batch...

They sell one at Target, I may just get that one. Has anybody tried others?

Bad batch. I bought one can of clay from Zaino over a year ago. Used it twice last year and about two weeks ago. Worked like a champ. Sal will take care of you.

Could you explain exactly what you did? I have been using Zaino products for over 5 years and might be able to offer some advice... Or call Zaino and ask to speak with Sal he will be able to help you as well.

I put the Z-7 in a spray bottle with water. It was going fine for the 1st 15 minutes. Then it was almost as it started melting in my hands. The car was clean. I took it to a self wash and hosed it down when I got home. The polish worked great! Easy to put on and remove.

Sorry for the title of the thread....I was just a little frustrated. It took forever to get the little chunks off and out from the corners...

That is odd. So sorry that your first claying didn't go well.

I've been using Zaino claybars for 5 years and used one on Saturday to clay a Range Rover -- no problems, ever. But that's no consolation. Nothing quite like a good clay.

e-mail Sal. :)

I have observed with guys that the first time they clay then tend to exert too much force. That'll cause a claybar to crumble. Gentle, fellas, gentle.

You own an 05' why would you claybar it anyways?

Claybaring will remove over spray and many other things that are factory.
It does make a big difference. The paint feels and looks wet when done.

My '01 Miata was three months old when I clayed it for the first time (and my first time) -- it was an epipheny in car care. Stunning difference, could hardly believe how much smoother the finish was. Did a friend's Range Rover last weekend, also a dramatic result.

Did my '04 Element a couple months ago and it was really only necessary on the lower part of the door panels. Barely discernable higher up. I now wouldn't recommend it for a new E.

The difference between being transported from Hiroshima instead of Ohio. Apparently train transport gets a lot of "rail dust" on the finish.

UPS today brought Zaino resupply, including the new Z-8. The Z-18 claybars are now red instead of yellow. Probably won't use a claybar on it again until '06.

From the day you buy it it has alot of impurities in the paint. Most of them come from shipping to the dealers and sitting out waiting to be bought
