I'm getting ready to upgrade to 18"s, but I don't want to go with a low profile tire. I like the look of Box4Rox tire size, only I would like 18" wheels. Looks like the height of a 235/65/17 is 29.03". 235/60/18 is 29.10" in height and a 255/55/18 is 29.04 in height but I think it is a low sidewall. I don't want to cut anything or have them rub anything. Any help would be great.

Hey Guys,

Are your wheels wider than the stock wheels? That's one of the things I don't like about the stock DX wheels is they look to skinny. Nice E's and wheels by the way.

Also if anyone is looking to sell their stock wheels at a good price let me know. I'm looking for the ones that look like the picture I've attached, if I have the funds available at the time. (the stock DX wheels are not pretty)

Look forward to seeing more pics for ideas.

The wheel is a Shuk WR1 17x7.5 +42 mm offset (same as the old ASA FR1ís). Itís kind of simple and skinny looking and itís forged so I was able to gain a pretty good weight savings. I hear you on the 18 inch wheel ; I had a hard time deciding myself . . . Ended up falling in love with a dang tire (Yokohama Geolandar G052 235/65 -17) and they donít make one in an 18 that would have fit. You are right on with the other 2 tires sizes you selected Ė I would look for a wheel offset right at +40 mm if you go with the 255ís. Iíll bet youíll still have some slight rubbing and it would ride a little harsher (low sidewalls).

My ďplanĒ (ha !) was to get the overall diameter up as large as possible (limited by the strut interference) and then lower (Eibach 1.7 ď) the E down until I ran out of room. Kind of a different look , I know . . . but hey itís an E.

I just removed the side steps which changes the look more towards what I was after Ė I think Iím going to leave them off.

rgkgraphix - stock wheels (steel or alloy) are 6.5" wide . . . most "basic" upgrades seem to be 7's or 7.5's so far

Thank-you, Thank-you, Box4Rox, And the problem is?? Go for it!! I wanted to go the same as or a hair smaller height than stock, so I could use the factory spare and not have to carry an extra tire and wheel. There is a 5.7% diff between stock and spare. With these it is about 3.6%, so they are closer in size than the factory tires.
I did not want to take a chance on the very different sizes and have a problem with the AWD, If I ever needed to use the spare. Tim

Enkei LM1's with Pirelli Scorpian AT 235/60/18. (Will go with 235/50 or 55/18 next time due to slight rub while parking - 'braking to a stop' hard left turn.)
