Anyone using Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale™ Spray Seal (http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Z-8&Category_Code=Zaino)? If so, if a little overspray winds up on the unfinished panels will there be a problem?

I'm using Z-8 (fantastic - so much better even than the excellent Z-6) and have not noticed any on the plastic panels.

I think the Z-2 and Z-5 polishes are the products with permanence and require isopropyl alcohol to remove.

The best resource for Zaino information is www.corvetteforum.com (http://www.corvetteforum.com/) in the car care section. Sal Zaino is a Corvette guy and that's the circuit where Zaino first took off and where the super zealots congregate en masse.

You could also go to www.zainobros.com (http://www.zainobros.com) and e-mail Sal. He's known to answer questions.

I called Zaino and spoke with, well, whoever answered the tech line... probably Sal. He said Z-8 on the panels would not be a particular problem, but stressed it was not intended for the panels... Z-8 is for paint. Duh.

LOL - nothing like stating the obvious.

To be cautious, when you are nearing the plastic you could spray the Z-8 on your towel instead of on the paint. You're supposed to be very sparing with it, in any event.
The unofficial Zaino mantra is: less is more.

I suggest treating your panels with Zaino's tire dressing / exterior vinyl protectant. It soaks into the panels just like lemon oil on fine wood furniture. Initially, it might take 2 or 3 light applications to get a nice even coverage, as it does seem to soak in quite a bit. The protectant has a high U-V rating, the color looks much richer, and water beads up on the panels just like on the polished painted panels.

Having used that on the panels, getting a little polish or overspray of Z-6 on the panels hasn't been an issue for me. I haven't placed an order since they came out with Z-8, so I haven't had any experience with that.

Thanks for that tip, HappyCamper. Hadn't occured to me to use Z-16 on the panels.

Just discovered Z-14 (glass polish) will clean the chrome exhaust extender.

Thanks for the advice. The "what product on the unfinished panels" is a long-standing issue. I just bowed to what seemed to be recommended most often, i.e. 303, and ordered a bottle.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit, between an autopia.com order and the Zaino order I've nearly spent $200 in cleaning/detailing stuff in the last day or two.

So, I'll have to use 303 until the bottle empties. At that time I'll definitely consider Z-16.

You're welcome, hickerchick and fiAsco. Let me know how it works out for you. I applied it very lightly with a large sponge and let it soak in a little between applications (I think according to directions on the bottle or found online). It might have looked a little streaky until about the 3rd coat. That was true the first time only. After that, just an occasional light refresh coat is all that is needed.

Actually, I need to take my own advice and detail my entire E. In November, I moved from my apartment to a 1950's house, and getting that in order has been more of a priority for me since then. Hopefully talking about this will get me inspired to spend a little time on detailing my ride.
