Yea I'd like to see how the Dream system looks. I passed on that because the thing was so bulky and thick, but because it was a Sony I was still interested. The main reason I chose my Panasonic was the slimness of the unit plus the SD slot.

Looking forward to your update!

Very cool, rootyblue! :)

Thanks for the pics!

I couldn't help notice you have encountered the dreaded "recessed deck" problem...

With my install, I found the deck looked much more aesthetically pleasing when I moved it out a bit. It's really easy to do - just drill out the brackets that hold your deck in place. Once you remove the bracket from the deck (!) you'll notice there are two little "nubs" that become perfect pilot holes for the drill bit location; this moves your deck out just far enough that you don't have a gaping recess to stare at all the time.

Still though, very nice job! It's good to see fellow "E" owners doing their own installs! :)

Nice work! You must do a short write up of how you mounted your monitor to the roof. I have a dvd player waiting to get mounted, but I have yet to see anything on how to remove the headliner.

You can get to the roof by taking the side door seals off. Un pop the cover over the door hinge Then I took the dome light off the roof liner is not attached so you can slide you hand up in it with no problem. The DVD player isnt attached to the roof this model is very light so Ive mounted it where the dome light was....... with a light board and some short drywall screws the DVD is attached only to this board not the "E" Im going to move the DVD back about 4"s and put the light back in this is my one regret No light! so I will fix this problem this weekend and when I put the Light back in it will make the monitor feel stronger from the mounting. Ill take more pictures this week end as I didnt take any of the mounting board.

Thanks for the pics...not too shabby! I must say though that I am glad I passed on the Sony and went with the Panasonic. Nothing against your choice, but that monitor unit is THICK and it doesnt even have the DVD player in it....hows your rear view mirror view affected?

Was that bezel that drops it so low stock, or was it an option (I ask because the Panasonic came with the bezel as well, but was not affixed and could be used if needed)?

Oh the Panasonic came with dome lights ;-)

But that is a nice install you did...you do have some mad DIY electroni skills :)

I went with the sony because a buddy at where I bought it said out of all this is the one that they havent had come back (yet) LOL! Id love to see some pictures of yours....... And no the clip was built on put it really isnt as big as it looks. Did you get a remote with yours and wireless headphones? The headphones are great so I dont have to listen when the kids are watching.... And how many inputs do you have I have 3 extra inputs so Ive added my Mini Disk to one and looking to get a Ipod on the others, and lastly a extra Game cube...

Only one set of inputs but I did not want anymore than that. It came with wireless headphones, SD slot, built in DVD, and is 9"...all in about a 1-2" in thick housing...if that. The remote is about the size of a credit card.

I paid for the install...was too chicken $hit to do it myself

You need me (or someone like me) as a neighbor as I have no reservations of cutting up a brand new $20,000 vehicle...I've got skills dammit! No lack of confidence here.
