"For what it is worth, my complaint about scratches on the composite body panels to the service manager at *a dealer* in KC brought this response today. "Honda will be releasing a product to fix the scratches very soon." He could not say more than this because that is all he was told. Whether this is true, and if it is a Honda formulated product that works is anybody's guess."

I firmly do believe that Honda will come out with a series of products for the care of these composite panels. We have to remember that Honda has put in an incredible amount of time and money into the development of the Element. I sincerely doubt that they are going to allow the composite materials to be a giant problem.

It's not that I don't think there's a problem, nor do I disagree that Honda has an incentive to minimize the problem in order to keep happy Element owners talking up their cars everywhere.
It's just that from what I've seen/touched/know of the materials, it seems like the change in the plastic that would bring about scratch-proofing would have to be a big change, in the plastic itself, not a surface application of a scratch-removing or scratch-resisting product.
I am anything but a materials engineer, I know nothing of plastics, and I'm just speaking as a layman - er, laywoman, er, layHellcat.
