:?

Ok, this one isn't my fault, but I could use some good advice...

GUM. Must have hit some on the road and it promptly slimed the entire length of my car.......there are several slimy strands running on the metal and the plastic.

Unfortunatley due to the nature of the beast and my location (hot and humid South Florida) this stuff will not harden like tree sap where I can "buff it out".

I bought a non aerosal spray bottle of a sap/bug remover compound and it did nothing exept color the gum white. ANd smear it. Ugh.

Here is the idiot part...

I know not to put wax on plastic. The bottle said you could rub it off plastic however. Not the case. Now I have that idiot-who-tried-to-wax-his-bumper look going on.

I need some advice on removing both!

Peanut Butter... it gets the gum out of hair, and the wax out of panels. :)

Can you elaborate? Rub peanut butter on like it's wax and rub off? Do I let it sit there?

Chunky or smooth?

Seriously, any other advice/elaboration would be great..

Choosy moms choose Jiff!

No seriously, creamy, you rub it in and then wash it off.

PB on the panels.
If you don't have access to prepsol or acrysol, I'd try denatured alcohol on the paint, maybe some kerosene.
Be sure to wax the paint afterwards; not the plastic.
:-P
Good luck.

Agree with Ranger... used isopropyl alcohol to get the glue off from when I took the dealer's decal off. Worked like a charm - did it when I was washing the car, and then waxed afterwards. Worked great.

Go to an Auto parts store and buy a can of "Quick Freeze". It's real purpose is to trick hvac systems into the heat mode, but I've used it to remove gum from cloth seats. Just a short spray on a small area will harden the gum immediately and youy can scrape it off with your fingernail.
