: Xm Question?

I've been loving the free XM radio in my car the last three months, but am reluctant to sign up after the free period runs out. The reason is I already have a roady2 that I pay the monthly fee for. I had used it in my pathfinder before I traded it in for the E, but still use it in my office and home. I understand that XM offers a "family plan" that brings down the cost for a second unit, but the AUX/MP3 input offers an easy way to continue using my roady2 in the car. I just wish there were a way to hook into the existing XM satellite receiver in the E rather than using the magnetic one privided with the roady2. Anyone know of an easy way to tap into the E's satellite receiver? I suspect that in the end I'll just break down and pay for the two units, and its probably worth the extra 7 or 8 bucks a month for the convenience of using the OEM radio and not having to take the roady2 in and out of the car every day, but I'd like to explore all options before going down that road.

Probably the cleanest way to manage the Roady2 is with a hard-wired car kit. With my SkyFi2, I had the cradle wired into a 12 V source and then installed an adapter that plugs into the CD changer port on the back of the EX head unit. Its very clean (no exposed wires), and only the cradle stays behind in the E. In my case, the cradle is mounted at the top of the subwooder enclosure. If there's a downside, its that the adapter for the changer is not cheap, and you are involved in either a signficant project or a fair amount of installer labor (plus the cost of the car cradle). Oh, and you'll also probably need to run an antenna. I'd cough up the $8/month, even thought its frustrating to need to do so. I'm just not sure any mod is going to have significant payback.

BTW, I'm intrigued by the reggae bungees mentioned in your signature. Red, gold, and green? Love to see what they look like.

Picked them up on ebay, they go well with the green interior. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BEST-Honda-Element-Seatback-Bungee-Radical-Reggae_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42612QQitemZ7988 998397QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
I'll probably just pay for both satellite units and enjoy the convenience, at least until the end of the baseball season.
