I have been the proud owner of a Sunset Orange Element for 9 days. And she has been christened "Plastic Thunder" in honor of her floors. No one except for Element owners can understand what this means to me. PLASTIC FLOORS. They are not only impervious to kids, weather, sports gear, ... this car welcomes the chaos. And wears it well.

I have never been a car person before. But now I'm ruined. I literally have the coolest car available.

Anyone else name their cars?[/i]

Heh lets see I usually call mine my E, or E Box. A few of my friends call it the Bang Box, because it looks like a square box and in reference to the good old Bang Bus. I'm sure there are probably a few more but none that I can remember right now.

My wife calls ours "Orange Elephant", or just plain "The Ellyfant"... sometimes I feel like I'm riding an elephant compared to my old Hyundai Tiburon...but the air is much cleaner up there! :D

let me take a stab at this:

My parents SOPY is Seemo (I don't know why yet)

is it because they can see mo' in their E?

hahahahaha

My E has been dubbed (not by me) the Johnny Cab, after the taxi's in the Total Recall movie...(the shape is kinda similar)

Mostly, I've been calling it the "E," but that's obviously not so unique around this site. One of my first road trips was to a cross country ski resort in the Adirondacks, and the owner of the place said, "Wow, it looks like a toaster." (It's Silver Satin Metallic). So I've referred to it as a toaster from time to time, but I'd like something a little more flattering than that. I just don't want to nickname it myself. I'd rather the name just appeared one day, like the Element itself.

My Element is known at the moment as The Big Pumpkin because it is SOP. I joked with my wife that Honda should have used green plastic instead of the gray. The other day on the highway a small green convertible was in front of me so I told my wife that it is the pumpkin's stem. My little twin brothers-in-law called it "mini-hummer" when they first saw it.

The Borg Cube.

I just got my brand new SOP 4WD EX. When my dad saw it, he said... "It's a LOLLIPOP!" I also like BugE.

Waited almost two months for mine. Before it arrived, I showed a friend at work a picture of the SOP in the Element brochure, and said... I just put in an order for this. My friend said... You're kidding! I just got the exact same car two weeks ago!

The other day, was on a dinner run to Taco Bell and found myself behind another E. We drove for several miles before both of us turned in at Taco Bell. Too funny.

It's a fun car. Love everything, but my mom has trouble getting in the back seat. Anyone find a solution to that besides getting the $500 steps?

Nice to find all these E owners.

I've never been one for naming my cars. Usually the only cars we've named have been bad names (such as a car whose auto-transmission was pretty much shot, and shifted VERY rough... named Lurch.. )

If I was to name my car though, it would have to be Leeloo (from the wonderful movie.. The Fifth Element) My brother-in-law just calls it the Fifth Element everytime he sees it anyway, and that was her name in the movie.

Yes, get the $350 steps from H & A accessories. A little tricky to install, but if you park your side wheels on a curb you can do it yourself. My parents can get in and out now. They are very sturdy and look good too. (they are the honda parts for alot less, especially without paying for installation).

Woobie2. I had a prelude for 15 years... my first car, bought it with 70k on it. It lasted 'til 330k! A friend of mine dubbed it the Woobiecar, although another buddy called it Smokey Joe for the 15 minute warmup every morning. DOH!

Since I'm planning on having this one a LOOOONG time, and it'll stay close to me, Woobie2 seemed appropriate.

Most of my cars have been female. (Except a Dodge Shadow that was known to all after a while as the S#*&Box, for a variety of workmanship and design flaws). I guess I have always followed the custom of naming cars like ships - "she" names. But then ELVIS just came to me. Its black, and boxy, kind of like ELVIS' hair in the 50's. Mr. Presley was known as "E" to his friends.

Although driving it back from Texas to Arizona, I happened on a radio station that played 24/7 JOHNNY CASH - The Man In Black. So I could be the Man In the Black ELEMENT.

Also thought about ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK, but my E really is a male car - even though every red-blooded Texas cowboy driving an American truck pointed and laughed as I cruised through West Texas! Took care of them, romped it to 90 when safe to do so and passed them laughing back.

My E has different names depending on my mood. When I first got it, I told a friend that it's definitely not a car, and I don't like referring to it as just "my truck", so now my friends and I call it the E-Rig.

After packing everything back up after a campout and it all fit so nicely, I closed the rear hatch and said, "Good job, Big-E".

Safari Mobile does fit. I sighted my first E pulling into a parking space as I walked out of Blockbusters, and my first thought was that it looked like it was just pulling in from the Kalahari Desert. Had to go see what it was and was instantly hooked.

I may have a contest with some friends from church to name my E, perhaps as a fund raiser for charity. I'll charge a dollar a vote. The two candidates so far are:
Gus - short and sweet, seems to go well with a faithful dog or work horse
Zirc - fullname would be Zirconium, a lesser known element (number 40 on your periodic table)

I've owned my Element now for two weeks. My brother named my Element and unfortunately tne name has stuck with my family, friends and co-workers. The story goes, my brother called and I told him about the Element and my mother was in the background saying "I knew it, he got a Hummer didn't he?" My brother started laughing and said " nope more like a Honda Hummer!" I thought the story was funny and told some friends and the name has stuck. And yes, I was also looking at Hummers when I purchased.

I'm the mascot for a professional hockey team. Since I tote around all my mascot geat in it I've been known to call it the SMELL-EMENT.

I think I'm gonna get a license plate that says SLAP WGN. My alter-ego's name is SLAPSHOT.

Also thought I'd get a plate that said PIMP WGN, that didn't go over too well.

Great names! Especially Leeloo! I wish I'd thought of that one.

We've been calling my SOP "The Omelet". Silly, I know, but it stuck and now that's what we call it. :D

I actually have never named a car before, and always thought folks who did were kind of ....different. BUT, I've had my new '04 SOP E for a week now, and it is the first car I ever owned that actually seems to NEED a name! Since I can't now, nor likely ever will, be able to afford my Porsche Boxter, my wife astutely pointed out that the E could be named "Boxter" with a high degree of appropriateness. So "Boxter" it is!! Lovin' my E!!!

I'm not sure if these have already been posted yet, but one lady called mine a "Little Safari Vehicle," and another friend seems to enjoy calling it "The Space Ship," which looks like it may stick unfortunately, haha.

The green gives it a military look.

Bought some steel DX wheels which I'm going to paint to match the E, then I'll mount 235/70/16 BFG All-Terrain KO's. Should look pretty good.

Thinking about the Aries brush guard and tail light protectors as well.

My Sunset Orange Pearl 2003 Element Y 4WD is called "Stardust"!

I chose the name basically because I'm a David Bowie fan, and the color of the E reminded me of Ziggy Stardust's hair... Lol!

Not to mention that the Element has an out-of-this-world look, and I've been asked, "Geee... From which planet does your car come from?!" Lol!

So that's the first name that came up to mind when I first looked at it, and it stuck! :P

My mother's Fiji Blue Pearl 2004 Element Y 4WD is called "BébéDoll"! Lol! Now don't even ask me the story behind that one! It would be WAY too long to explain!

I have a Samba Green Pearl Del Sol that we call Greeny. I'm still thinking of a name for the Element. My girlfriend says that when she lived out west everyone called their rides their "rigs". I started calling it that and she made fun of me so I quit. I still think its kind of cool though.

Wow another Whovian! I believe the "scientific by BBC" term was Dimensionally Transcendental. We pick up our E Monday. She's been dubbed the GypsyWagon. Whenever one of our dogs is bad, I tell my husband that I've called the Gypsies and they'll be by in a day or two to pick them up and take them away. Xena gets the "Gypsy Warning" alot! Well we're going to be a year long tour starting in November - with the two dogs...which is why we're adopting the SOP-E. Jokingly I said if you can't beat 'em join 'em. So we're applying for the GYPSYWGN plate.

We nerds should stick together! I have a Velma figure 1" tall that was velcro-ed to the instrument panel of my former ride (82 Honda Accord), she's moving to the GypsyWagon SOP on Monday. My husband has a Shaggy figure in his truck. They came from the WB store that used to be in our local mall. If you're interested you could probably track one down on ebay? Which by the way, how about E-Bay for a Blue E?

I just have to say:

LOVE the Leeloo, Lunchboxter, and Spamcan names!

Starduster--- Yay! My husband always wants to hear "Space Oddysey" in our E!

We named ours the "Totoro Bus" from the movie, My Neighbor Totoro. Totoro is the grey creature in my avatar. In the movie there's a really cool Catbus, and we were going to name it that if we got the Orange one, but since we got Silver, we call it Totoro because it's boxy and big (compared to our past cars). The little green leaf is like my iPod mini which is green. :)

Just for reference as to why I think the E is so -big-... I used to have a Hyundai Accent that we called "The Scooter" because the engine was SO WEAK I could hardly even make it over a snow pile 1" high without a push!
