Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro

It seems a Pro version has come out and has some improvements to the older version. I would not know as I do not have either.
I did a quick search and only found about 4 threads talking directly about the AutoDry system.
Shen seems to love his original as did the others in the other threads I found.

This has serious pushed me to run out and buy one next weekend for the weekly wash (almost every saturday or sunday since I bought the E in March 05).
I do like washing the E and use the Eagle 1 Wax as you Dry every time. I think that stuff is fantastic. I was never much into keeping my old vehicles cleans much less waxed.

Anyway, I was wondering for those that have either the original or the new Pro version, do you think I will still be able to use the Eagle 1 after washing and rinsing with the AutoDry?
Does the water sheet off to fast and dry the vehicle too quickly to use the Wax as you Dry stuff??

I have the original, I would think your able to use the eagle one. I use eagle one but haven't used the 2 systems together. Well it dry's about as fast as it would without the autodry system. It just runs the water thru a filter that keeps the water spots from forming. I usually use the auto dry when I need a quick wash and can walk away from it or when I'm going to pull it in the garage and let it sit overnight to wax in the morning. I usually use the eagle one at the local coin op car wash and put it on in the parking lot.

I bought the pro model but returned it after using it once. I didn't end up seeing any time savings at all, in fact it took longer. The main advantage of the pro over the regular is supposed to be the new jet spray to "power" off dirt and road grime, etc, etc. In practice, the jet spray ended up being what I was imagining the regular spray should be. It couldn't really take off anything that my regular spray nozzle wouldn't. Trusting the jet spray probably added the most time to the wash.

The accessories are also pretty cheap. If you are thinking of trying the autodry system, I'd suggest finding one of the regular ones on sale. Me, I'm gonna go with the Eagle Bucketless, Wax as you dry and a hose with a regular garden sprayer.

I have the original. Ive never replaced the filter, it never real dried for me so i didn't see the use in another 5 bucks for it to do nothing again. But I do use it as a bucket alterinative.

I took your advice and picked up the original tonight on the way home at AutoZone.
It was only $17.88, what a bargain. I also picked up a brush for cleaning the rims, a microfiber wash mit, new bottle of new Eagle1 Wax as you Dry (blue bottle), Eagle1 Tire shine, and a refill of the dryer cartridge. Total for everything was only $44 which is cheaper than what the Pro AutoDry is selling for.

Washed the car after I mowed the yard (damn busy night for me). I guess it dried faster, because as I was using the Wax as you Dry on the passenger side the driver side was completely dry before I got to it. Not sure on the "spotless" since I am following up with the Eagle1.

Either way I figure for $18 it is not that bad for the experiment.

The Auto dry doesn't actually dry anything. It removes impurities from the water so you can let your car drip or air dry without leaving spots. If you are imediately wiping down your car with quick detailer or wax as you dry there is no point in using an autodry because you are wiping away any waterbourne crud anyhow. I suppose it's useful if you have really high mineral content in your water. A bottle of quick detailer and a microfiber are cheaper in the long-run. Just wash with the hose.

Yeah, I was using the old bucket, car wash, hose, and micro fiber towel.
The water nozzle started to fall on me (would not always stop spraying when you released it) so I started hunting around for another one like I had.
It is a semi ruggedized hand gun looking spray but I can select multiple spray pressures by spinning the end. I have had it for years and it finally starting acting up so I know I got my money out of it.

Anyway like I said, I started looking for another and found them for about $9, for $18 I got to try the Autodryer. I do like the soap spraying ability vs the old soapy bucket deal. Sometimes the old bucket water would run out of the suds before you finished the car.


Way on a side note, did you see my custom wiring addition for my ipod unit? Threads here (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15100&highlight=radio) . I thought you might get a kick out of it.

I've got the Pro edition. It was around $30 @ wally world.

It works OK. I use it sometimes. It can be a time saver, in my experience, but doubt it can be used effectively for its described purpose w/Wax-As-U-Dry.

If you're going to Wax-As-U-Dry just dry the car normally that time & don't use the AutoDry setting as the filter has a limited life span--no reason to use it up if you're going to be drying the car anyway.

I got the normal autodry, and worked great for me, even w/ the horrible hard water we have. Just dried the windows because I thought I'd have to...worked great though.
