you've got the two opposite ends of the spectrum there with a box on wheels and a bubble on wheels. you could set up some cool pictures with those in the daylight.

With the E being my first non-vw...I have to say I'll never purchase a new Dub again! Just took my wifes Passat in for the 20K service, $497 I almost dropped another nut! Outrageous for a glorified oil-change.

eek. Don't tell me that. Well, then again considering this car is going to be basically for getting my wife to and from work, it'll take a while for 20k miles since we live less then a mile away. It took almost 4 years to get our civic to 18k miles and it was our main car.

What is your guy's experiences with the beetle? This is only the second time I've bought a non-Honda, and the first time was a nightmare. I tried to talk her into an Accord, but she was hell bent on the beetle.

We're known at work as the couple with the funky cars. I love 'em both. The New Beetle is far more roomy inside than I ever would've imagined. In fact, it has just as much headroom but nearly twice the (front) passenger legroom than my E.

Why do many people bother to "black out" their license plate numbers whenever they post a picture of their vehicle?

Is there some rampant license plate identity theft ring out there that I'm unaware of? And if there was such a thing, couldn't thieves just copy down license plate numbers of vehicles they see in the street? Why would they have to bother with finding such info on the internet? It just seems like a wierd bit of over-precaution to me. What's the fear? :?

(Those actually in the Federal witness protection program, need not answer...) :D

Yeah - color me shocked to see your post as well...I remember Dede telling me you guys had one a while back, but it really didn't register in my brain until I saw this thread.

Toy run...we usually do, but I'm not sure what they are planning on doing this year. It's normally in tandum with the Irving Christmas Parade. Here's a thread I started to get them talking (we did mention it at the meeting, just nothing has been done yet)

You would be amazed at what people can find on the world wide web. I know it does not work in every state but there is actually a website that allows you to look up license plates for owner and address information. For people who have expensive audio/video equipment or other big ticket items, advertising their E complete with possible location information may be less than desirable. Also, some people just like to play it safe because you just never know who's lurking out there.
